waaa waaa. face it bards are the most underpowered class in the game. They can do things some others cant with kiting and charming(yes i know other dot classes can kite and enchies/necros/shm/dru can charm) Fact is bards will be outdmged by ALL CLASSES with gear thats close to equal. This looks like a way to add some dmg to what a bard does without it getting out of hand. Nice proc, anyone know how effective the pets the summons are? i am assumin they disapper when the mob you are fighting dies.
Most underpowered class or not, still the funnest to play to me. no other class even comes close. too bad we are weak for the most part )

wether bards are outdamaged by every other class or not, they are still the best addition to any group. A group with a bard is 10 times better than a group without one. Bards are the fastest runners, groups will deal more damage and regen mana and hp faster with a bard. Not to mention bards are one of the best pking classes, or are you on a blubie server?
If you play a bard and like it then why the hell are you talking as if you hate them? Maybe you should look over your character and see that a its strenghts outweigh its weaknesses...

Underpowered? where have you been and do you actually play EQ? And of course there outdamage by all classes , there not meant to be a DPS class fool
Actually, Bards are probably the most overpowered class in the game. ***** DPS. We can do things solo that other people wouldn't even dare try.

Ive cleared EVERY nonsummoning mob in PoV with my bard in about 20 minutes and gotten 5 AAs from that one kite before, name me one guild that can send in one grp to do the same thing in the same amount of time. You wont find one. Play your Bard to the hilt and learn the meaning of overpowered hehehehehe :P

Too bad they took away our AE kiting. But let me respond to your comment about the bard being underpowered and weak. First, I can out tank a warrior with my bard and get better agro, and have tanked consistently for groups in Wall of Slaughter (I would not consider myself overly geared either, have only 2 qvic bracers and most the rest of my gear dropped from 1 groupable mobs). Second, a bard can out DPS any class through consistency. I was just messing around once at midwall camp in wall of slaughter waiting for a port and decided I would try and out DPS a group of 67-70s wizzy, bard, cleric, SK, and two other classes that were holding camp in a group there. I used the same technique as when I'm tanking and, low and behold, ding AA xp after the mob dropped. I will not share any further about technique because technique is what makes bards so powerful, but I will say that we aren't the most powerful class in the game because it was just given to us in a nuke or a weapon; we are the most powerful class in the game because we can manipulate our seemingly insignificant powers for unimaginable possibilities. It's up to the individual bard to discover what they are capable of and just how far they can go. I learn something new about my bard every week =).

Whats next will we get a special bard port to every bard guild or a rez song :P
As DireAngel mentioned below, there's the Worker Sledgemallet. And a couple of limited charge items. Also The Binden Concerrentia, which is incredibly hard to complete, and requires a 100p+ component anyway. Perhaps the least expensive Gate option, after the hammer, is the Vial of Velium Vapors.
As for Resurrection, aside from several limited charge items, which may or may not drop anymore, Bards will have to wait for EQ2 to be able to rez people. (And even then, only the "evil" Dirge class of Bard will get the song.)

Actually when you are high enough to charm him, you can get a OT port hammer: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=473. Just gotta charm skelly foreman in OT outpost and give him a 13pp gem hehe, everyone else has to have faction. Plus with a singing steel helm you can summon an eye and kill it so you don't have to burn gate potions.

this isn't a song or even a special bard thing. In the elemental planes, every melee/hybrid class gets a weapon that procs swarm pets, even warriors and the other 'melee only' classes get them. This just happens to be the bard version (it is a proc, not a song)
