I made a Ranger shortly after Kunark came out, was on Cazic-Thule. Could of sworn he got Bind Affinity. Cause I was annoyed that I could bind, but couldn't Gate.

OK I've been playing the game for a decade on and off. On my most recent return, suddenly a caster (Druid, Cleric, Mage, Cleric) can no longer cast bind affinity on himself/herself outside of a city?????? When did this change? I've attempted to bind in zones that I know I previously was able to do this since my return, and now I keep getting the message that I need to try a city.

Bug? Or new unwelcome feature?

So in order to cast on someone you have to be in a group... does that mean you can't cast on someone else unless you cast on yourself too?

This spell is cast on your target only. The person you're casting it on just has to be in your group. This prevents you from randomly casting it on anyone you pass by or who passes by you.

This spell is sold by Celest Palestream in the Cleric's Guild in Northern Felwithe. Loc: 23, -442. And btw... why does the spell list link to the spell effect and not the actual spell?
Here it is

This spell will change your bind point to the location that you are currently in. You can cast on yourself and others, as long as they are in your group and in a city or allowed bind place.

Be nice, not everybody knows what "bound" means, I thought that was an excellant description for anyone starting Everquest

Totally concur Drahker - pretty unacceptable behaviour: these boards are there for explanation, like the one of bind affinity given here, not for mentally unstable ... well ... morons.

To cast on someone else you have to group with them, then cast the spell. Then disband group.

is this a self-only spell mislabeled target/group? I've tried using it on others in my group and it won't stick.

Who other than self does it work on?

With my druid on self it will work anywhere... haven't had the opportunity to try it on anyone else yet with either the druid or my baby cleric

It's gotta be in a town/designated area.

Example: Just outside CB or at the Orc Lift is fine. However, inside CB won't work (actually, it might... Never tried it.)

It will work with you anywhere, I am told.

Tried it inside Kurn's Tower last night with my druid, didn't work. Didn't try on other side of zone point. I used it with my enchanter to bind just outside the zone point for Black Burrow worked fine there. So it appears it depends on where you are at when you try to bind.

If yer doing Kurn's...you can bind just outside on the ramp outside the tower...nice place to rest as well when the skellys are being a bit nasty. Pretty safe too...even though you're look out over the pit full of badgers and lizard skellies...they don't aggro on you from up there, unless you peg one of them with a spell.

"Badgers??? Badgers???? WE DON'T NEED NO STEEENKING BADGERS!!!"

For self binds, this spell works anywhere except for specific dungeon/planar zones, so for example, you could bind in the middle of the lake in Lake Rathetear. To bind SOMEONE ELSE, you must be in a designated melee bind area, such as a city, adventure camp, or a spot like the gypsy camp in north karana. Step 20 steps away from the gypsy camp, and you can still bind yourself, but not anyone else.

No you can not bind anywhere in regular zones either. Try binding yourself near Giant Fort in Bwoods, it used to be possible, but it aint anymore. Ninja nerfed it seems
