Assuming you can get one charmed in the first place, buff your pet with granite stance and you'll probably never have to make a break for the zone unless you've just caste granite stance before recast time is up and it decides to take a bunch of damage from a few mobs and granite stance wears off.
Iceflame Guard(or Body) helps quite a bit in prolonging granite stance's lifetime.
I find it fun to give it all the pet toys I possibly can and loot it later when i decide ol' Jabarn needs to come out of suspension.

Granite stance not only makes this pet a god by mitigating 1/3 the incoming damage, it also snares it by 80% which REALLY helps you mez/charm it again without a problem. By the way...if you happen to be insane or daft, do not cast Velocity or Expedience with granite stance on...it will break it.

ok i just went the other night after dinging 65 to use this spell in BoT. I went by myself at first and charmed mob cleaned my clock in like 3 seconds 2 times. 3rd time i took a ranger friend with me and had him manage snare on the mob. that was easy enough. let ranger target charmed pet then invis and let ranger snare when charm breaks<invis auto breaks charm>. Then recast a malosinia on it, Then charm. let ranger pull, shoot his bow, and thats about it. Always easy to get a ranger,so many of them, and they are always LFG. most are glad to get the 3-4% AA xp in the whole 15 seconds it takes charmed pet to kill a mob. Is this spell useless? I dont think so.

I have tried using CotAM in BoT, first on the lesser elementals. Then I cast BO5 on them. The damage is colossal! Anyway, what I was going to ask was:

#1. I have 3/5 trains in Elemental Fury. Does this also affect charmed mobs? From what I've seen, it hasn't really shown...

#2. My charisma is 185 and even so, CotAM only lasts a max of 11 minutes for me. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong here? (I wouldn't be surprised)

This was the worse spell you could of given mages for BoT, for the longest time we used to have to zone in invis cause there always was someone training the zone(mainly mages lol)

Ok for those of you trying to use this in a solo situation save yourselves the aggravation :0)
This is an awsome spell in a group setting. Best I have found so far is LS in BoT.

1.Make sure you have spell cast time % modifier or cleric % spell
    2. Have Charm and mez up and hotkeyed
    3. Open your pet window so you can easily see when charm breaks
    4. Find earth or fire as they seem to be the only ones that dont summon you
    5. Call it in with Mala line spell, and then mez it
    6. get it hasted and snared if possible
    7. Charm the pet and park him in the corner your group is fighting in
    8. Equip him with everything j00 got, then go stand at the max pet command radius(not required but does add DPS)
    10. With VoQ or even c3 you should easily be able to nuke each mob, just keep an eye out for the break and be ready to mez and charm. With a cast % modifier you will have enough time even if the mob isnt snared to land the mez before he reaches you.
    11. Rinse and repeat...

Nuking is important otherwise your pet will take a large chunk of exp, plus it gets boring sitting there doing nothing.

Ive done this quite a few times and had my pet offtank the adds instead of having them mezzed. The only thing you have to remember is to have a group that is on their toes and ready for CC when your pets charm breaks. It is honestly amazing to see the mobs drop when this is organized properly

I got this spell 15k. Went to BoT some of the best exp pts in the Game that I can get to.
Charmed a Water Elemental wiped out 2 DB mobs and gained a Hash Mark Per kill of 90% AA's and that was it. You have no time to do anything but Charm, Pet Kill, And a Burnout v...Rest of the time your standing way way back cause when the Charm breaks your hauling *** for the zone. Basically this spell is absoutly worthless unless your grouped. Which is your grouped I am not sure if you want to be messing with a mob hitting for 470ish hasted 80+ %?
They Nerfed Charm kills badly for Mages its roughly 97% the pet gets and you get 1 or 2% for each kill......the time and running for the zone I think that the Exp pts in the Mines of Nurgia are better..3-4 kills is a Blue bubble and that stuff is easy to kill if your a soloer if not join a HoH or BoT group.

Are you Brave? Are you Bold? or Are you a Newbie PL'd Mage or EBAY'd Mage?

It comes down to this, Is your Defense Max'd? Is your Agility 200+? Is Channeling Max'd? If no do not use this spell. I took all the good suggestions on this spell and I've been to BoT a grand total of 10 times(6 with this spell). Go in petless, have your Gift of Vex Bag filled with Pet Kits and sell... Hahaha...(cry) No I'm joking (but you can sell kits easily in BoT). Find a group, Malosinia the mob, Mez the Mob, Charm to mob, (then I use /pet sit down immediately) followed by equipping it with a pet kit, not many clerics really want to Virtue this pet, so DS it and then have it follow you.

1)Find a safe place to park it (/pet guard here)where if it breaks it's not aggroing more mobs to you.
2)Go about 50 corpse lengths away and park yourself always have Charmed Pet Targeted. Assist Tank and return to pet as a target. If Charm breaks use the following steps:

3)Have a Hotkey "Charm Broken Target Dynamite for Healing please"
4)Attempt to Mez the Mob again.
5)Have Another "{{ %T }} has been Mezzed preparing to Malosinia target again.
6)Have another Hotkey "Attempting to De-Resist my Mez {{ %T }}, if he resists I will try again." /cast (spell slot of Malosinia).
7)Now have the Hotkey "Attempting to Charm {{%T }}, if it fails I will try again."
    8) Hotkey " %T is now my PET for up to 30 Minutes"

Rinse and Repeat 2 thru 8 as needed. Zero pet deaths so I am 6 for 6 in BoT using the methods most of you have given me. To those that like the spell I agree, for those that don't, well go back to playing your enchanter.
For those needing practice using this spell go to a zone PoJustice and charm the rock golems there or any zone having the rock golems, if you can mez it you can charm it. Do not rely on sites for being 100% correct on type of mob.

Yes to an earlier question, Snare, tash, Malos the would-be pet, I use full blown Kjal's from South or vind from East, they work well. Try and get CHA buff from shaman or enchanter prior to casting Call. I usually do NOT gear the pets, as their DPS is sick with just Burnout 5. Nothing like Quad 471's .... Plus if you have a wipe the next thing you'll hear upon zoning back in is " Who the <bleep> left their ex-pet up in <camp name>?!?! fkr!! It wiped my grp!! ". Avoid that at all costs eheh. It will still wipe the group, but they will think it's just a real tough mob, not an ex-CotAM pet. Dirty? Yes. Necessary? You betcha. Rule 1 when using CotAM pets is, keep it snared, and park it as far away from you as possible when its not fighting. If you dont have a ranger / druid with ya ( I know necro's snare and SK's to a lesser degree, but it does damage and also doesnt last long at all) don't bother trying to charm. If snare drops off, let the ranger / druid know that he needs to be re-snared, and then invis and run like ****. When the guy or gal gets it snared, it will generally head for that person, run up get a fresh tash / malos on it and recharm. Rinse and repeat. I have kept a single pet like this for nearly 4 hours. If theres no SK/ Pal / War lookin for grps, use one of these as a tank, just stay back from it and don't heal it when it's fighting, always after the fight. Expect to die ALOT doing this, and make sure your group understands that they will most likely die alot as well. The XP is sick enough to make up for it however. Get 2 CotAM mages, a DC ench, a cleric and a druid and a ranger for a SICK pet grp. As a testament to how good the CotAM pets are, they routinely solo anything except nameds and Krigers. I once had a pet solo Oreen Wavecrasher to 20%, it was insane. Then charm broke I died in about .000002 seconds and the enchanter charmed my mob for me, and finished the job =D. 1.snare the mob?<do you need to do this??
    2.Mali. the mob<to lower resist
3.Mez the mob<to make it hold still
    4.CALL the mob
and can you do #3 first then #2?? dont compleatly understand mezing and charming yet. And this spell will break at anytime? And does this spell matter what your CHA is or not?? And dont give the CALLed mob a weapon due to resist? Is all this right?? J/W im only 35. LoL

I recenty got this spell on my 65 Mage and I have to say it is by far the least useful spell I have. As far as PoP goes, it works in Bastion of Thunder. Which is fine if that's where you do most of your hunting but...

    1) try to charm a plasma elemental in SolRo and be prepared to get your **** handed to you on a platter.

    2) Try to charm a Massive Stone Guardian in Umbral Plains, see statement #1

    3) Go to The Hole...yeah, ok...at 65 your pet owns every elemental in The Hole w/o so much as a pet heal.

    4) Shimmering Rockfiends in The Grey...why? Everything in The Grey is gimp. See statement #3.

    5) In every other zone where there are summoned mobs, the mobs are so weak that there's no point is wasting 500 mana on them. Yay! I can go to Steamfont and charm an Earth Elemental!

I am greatly displeased with this spell in so far as it's range of application is concerned. It would be great if you were able to charm any elementals, not just the ones in Bastion of Thunder. I don't know who's idea it was in SoE to create this spell, but thanks for nothing. Or well, thanks for making a one zone spell.

The LEAST they could have done when they nerfed it was to increase the number of mobs that were suceptible to it.

Have been using this spell in BoT DS for about 2 weeks now. With 310 INT and 290 CHA, we will typically clean out the room except for the pet. We pull it with snare, then Malosinia, then elemental silence. While stunned I 'call' it, and have been resisted maybe 2-3 times out of 40-50. The one thing that is definitely NOT consistent is how long the Call lasts. In general, it seems the first couple times you hit them with it, it breaks free pretty fast (10sec - 2 minutes). As you regain control a number of times, it seems to last longer. Longest Call so far has been about an hour, or 2 room clears. In typical Sony fashion, it tends to break when you want it to least, like when you get a pop add or the like.

When I fight with it, put it in the pull spot and use /pet hold and back up as far as I can to still be able to use /assist on the MA. I like to have rangers in group for their snare, but chanters stunds work well too, as long as everyone knows that if he breaks loose, we have potential serious troubles.

If you root them before being called, it is nice to pull to them, and relativtely safe, too.

Pet Weapons and haste mask are, of course, very nice to give them. The DPS they put out with Muzzle and Burnout makes me wonder how long it will be until it is nerfed. I believe that the XP suffers when using charmed pets, but when you can kill mobs faster than the monk can pull them, not a bad tradeoff.

The AA Frenzied Burnout has a nice bonus as well, the Flurry and Rampage never wears off as long as the pet is alive. Talk about damage. )

Good CHA items are the tradeskill trophies (which I use 2) and the CHA cups, plus the CHA buff. I did notice that when I failed to equip with my CHA gear, they resisted more.

i was in BoT in one of the camps one day when all of a sudden i see an elemental running up towards my group. i'm like ahh ****. so i run up and start whacking it (65 bard), essentially tanking it since we had just gotten back together, trained not long ago losing most of our group. i've got the basic defensive archetypes but this guy just owned me, bad... maybe like 5 sec after runnign up to it i'm down, and i had like 6k hp at that time. it ended up wiping our whole group out since a few ppl were afk and everyone but me was unbuffed. needless to say we found out it was a mage charmed pet given all the summoned gear and fully buffed, lol. all i can say is ouch...

Everyone keeps trying to tell me that Charisma makes a difference to Charm length. Have tried with increased Charisma and have never seen anything to indicate that. I am a level 63 Druid with COT my normal wisdom is only 65. I regularly charm kite. Average length of time over 20 casts with 65 wisdom 4.5min I tried with wisdom at 115 and over the same 20 casts 4.2min average length. Time of charm running anywhere from about 30 seconds to 15 min for both.

Your charistma/level/spell vs the mob's level/special resists/MR determines your success rate on the initial charm cast. Once charmed, the spell does the normal magic resist checks (only) every tick (or skips ticks depending on TD level) and has nothing to do with charistma. I have seen this documented and have proven it out myself. Tash that mob if you want to increase average charm duration. Also, don't cast illusions that proc nor give procing weps to charmed mob. The proc gives extra resist checks to the charmed mob.

just like the Enchanter charm pet spell, ridiculously overpowering and unbelievable they havent been nerfed completely...

Ive watched both an enchanter and a Mage each SOLO Lief Windfall in BOT a lvl 65 mini boss....

    Thats BS.

I fail to see how giving Mages/Enchanters/Necros/Dr00ds pets that pump out 900DPS with 15,000HPs as being remotely class ballancing in any stretch of the imagination.

If you think that charm fighting is so easy you should try it some time, get a gimp chanter and try it sometime you will be surprised. the only reason you are talking so much BS is because you only see people that have gotten really good at it from hundreds of hours doing it so it looks easy. Let me give you a small example. Mob A is a charmed pet hitting Mob B, Pet breaks charm (happens all the time in the middle of a fight) now you have TWO mobs quading you for 266 to 400 a pop (in case your math is a bit rusty, that = dead to any caster before he can even start casting a spell). I takes skill and luck not to get gangbanged on a regular basis. Most enchanters I know do not bother with it since it is a **** of a lot easier to just group. 90% of them only use the charm line for crowd control (it is a good alternative to mez in some circumstances). As for druids, they have it a bit easier because they have snare to keep the mobs at arm length long enough to get charm of again but in their case they are limited to animals only, there are not that many places were they can use it safely (PS: Most of the animals in tier 2 planes are Immune to snare and root so is crazy to try and use it there to solo). Again, it makes a great crowd control spell, but only works on animals.
Now, I know what you are going to say ďI can solo at all pass X level, why should anyone else be able to if I canítĒ All I can say to you is that you chose to play the character you have and it is very childish to cry over the fact that you did not get all the goodies. It never fails to surprise me how some people in are such babies that they have nothing better to do then cry that someone else has a lollipop they donít have so it should be taken away.

No kidding... Nobody is arguing that it's easy to charm a mob and sic it on something the problem beguns when charm breaks 20 seconds later and BOTH mobs come back to have a chat with you... and unless you're charming in steamfont that probably means you aren't gonna live long unless you've had a good amount of practice to regian control of the mobs.
