in reference to below poster being unsure what line of heals this spell is part of, - as can be seen by the name it is in the "light" series, not the "remedy" series.

the cast time is likewise 3.75 compared to supernal remedy at 1.75. not sure where the blur comes in.

in reference to those complaining of the "high mana cost" - the prior spell in this series was "ethereal light" which had a mana/heal ratio of 4.08. at level 63, this spell has a ratio of 4.55 which increases to 4.58 at 65. quite an improvement.

in comparison, supernal remedy has a 3.625 mana/heal ratio.

this spell is a very nice upgrade to the "light" series of heals, and with a beneficial haste of 15% and blessing of reverence- the cast time is only 2.8, which is just 1 second longer than supernal remedy (which remains unchanged by foci or effects)

3 family of Healing spells

Just to cover the concept, there are 3 line of healing spells for clerics. 1, Good HP/mana ratio slow heals (Normal Heals). 2, fast casting somewhat long distance inefficient heals (Emergency Heals). 3, Heal over time (Gradual Heals).

In old EQ, there was only type 1 heals. Then came type 2, and then type 3. This tradition continued somewhat, though the line between them became less obvious as time went by. But still, knowing this in the back of your mind should help you intelligently pick the right kind of spell for different situations. Or at least help you understand why heal spells for clerics seem so bizarre at times.

I do agree though that this spell seems to blur the line a lot. I'm not entirely sure where it lies, though I reckon it's probably in the remedy line (type 2).
One good use

I was in a group killing Glimblax last night and our tank wouldn't live 10 seconds without healing. We had a druid, shammy and myself chain casting heals, and each heal from any of us would bounce his health up about 30%, and with that we had a lot of close calls.

Well as much as I love the thought of healing 2750 hp without using a Complete Heal. The mana cost on this is simply sick and wasteful 600mana ! Say that to yourself 600 mana for 2750. excuse me I must go cry I'll brb.

<sniff> <sniff> Sorry about that folks I had thought it was only 400 mana. Anyway this spell Goes to the back of my book because there is no way I can afford this mana drain when I have a lv 39 spell that heals more for less mana but takes 6.25 seconds longer to cast. I have a great emergency quick heal spell that is 400mana and I have great heal over time spells to slow the bleeding. If I was going to use this it would have to be 400mana.

That is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

100% Agree ... To High Mana Cost...

Happens me to Use it When i am in a heavy DPS group and we are moving fast so i waste mana on this heal instead waiting on CH :) but... it's only to justify my mana Lol ...Allthough i could use it on a good nuke that's true too :)

Well, focus items work with this spell, not CH. Granted, the mana is still costly, and it'd have to be a lot less than 400 for me to use it, it's still useful if you've got focus items coming out your *****

Blessed Healing + Quickening of Mithaniel (we can even cast one that stacks with other focus items!), these add up, and if you have the mana to blow, and these focus items up, it's likely more hit points/time heal, though the mana cost is still insane.

It's about 2.25 seconds for casting, and healing 3850 hp. It's, including refresh, 1711 1/9 hp/second, whereas CH is 625. Not really much without the focus effects, but get it for the potential.

Oh, and once again, mana cost IS insane, but with Preservation of Mithaniel, it's 480 per cast, just a bit above what you'd say you use it with.

Remember, mana to blow and a lot of hp to heal, use this, conserving mana with little DPS from the mob, use CH.

I use this spell for a few reasons.

Better healing per second than supernal remedy. We've all been caught in a situation where we are chaincasting a fastheal on the tank (because we blinked and missed the timing on the CH) and using just supernal remedy is barely keeping them up, this spell gives you a little more breathing room when you take into account the 1 second refrech timer between casting spells (also spell casting haste and BoR will work with this spell but will not work with supernal remedy).

Better mana efifciency than supernal remedy. Sure it costs 50% more mana, but it heals almost twice as many hit points.

Raids. We all know that there are situation when your tank is bound to run out of hitpoints before you run out of mana. Especially with big mobs that hit hard. In these cases, supernal remedy barely makes a dent, but this spell gives you a sizable HP boost.

I still use supernal remedy a LOT more than supernal light but you really need both memmed if there is even a chance that you will have your back against the wall healing-wise.

This spell is fantastic. I use it nearly as often as CH.

Now, first let me say, I have an improved healing 4 item, plus I have The improved healing AAs, which stack. I also have the crit heal AAs, so there is a chance of getting a double HP heal. I have healed 6600 with this spell before, although that its not typical.

On average, this spell usually hits for 3k-3300 hp non-crit.

I also have The ornate boots, which have Mana Preservation 3, So my mana per cast is only 540, not 600. Throw in Blessing of Reverence, and a spell haste item (they stack) and you drop the cast time below 3 seconds.

So, now we're talking about a 3200hp average heal, for 540 mana cost, and cast time of about 2.5 seconds. Does this STILL seem like a bad spell to you?

Note that most of those effects work on CH, so its 8khp max, for 400 mana, and 10 sec cast time. Now realistically, in most grind groups, the average tank doesn't have 10k HP, so you'll be healing around 4k-5k or so damage per cast.

If I have multiple mobs in the camp, I rarely ever use CH, since 140 mana is a small price to pay, for the opportunity to be able to save the chanter when mez/charm breaks, or slow hits too soon. If I was CHing, id either have to interrupt the spell, and risk losing the tank, or watch the chanter die.
