I got the Lurid Dagger today from Griegs, it seems to be almost as Hico Rumrunner described it,

"It does not appear that is is an actual "scribbable" spell but rather a "proc" of the same effect of Shadow Vortex on a piercer that drops in Greigs End."

It does seem to have the same AC effect as Shadow Vortex however unlike Shadow Vortex, it does not give the AC it steals to the weapon wielder.

I correct myself, this is the exact same effect as shadow vortex, it does award the wielder 12ac for approx. 5 minutes. I have a Nightmarewood Bow and will test further to see if the 2 effects will stack since they have different names. /shrug, never can tell.
