Does this remove 4 curse counters or 8? The discription is a little confusing.

Unless "The Powers that Be" (TM) have changed it....this is not an LDoN puerchase-able spell....it is a drop only off of a named 'shroom in echo caverns.

Ok..if SOE wants to see people hunting in zones with creatures that dot-curse in ways that just never wear off...then they need to make this spell FAR more available.

Class - Points - Level?
# Mar 22 2004 at 10:54 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I know that different classes get this at different levels and at different camps. But no one has spelled out exactly what classes go to which camps for how many Adv points and at what level.

Anyone?

This is purchased at certain LDoN vendors with Adventure Points.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 09 2004 at 6:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No it is not, Remove LESSER Curse is puchased with Adv points. Regular Remove Curse is still only obtained by killing the Great Saprophyte in Echo Caverns and rarely at that.

how it is supposed to work...
# Oct 12 2003 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
From what I have learned (by asking a great number of people), once you are cursed, you continue casting this spell on the target until the curse lifts. Better hope its not a DoT...
Please reply if I am wrong. I am looking forward to trying this (although not looking forward to the curse).
Is there such a thing as a Curse?
# Oct 08 2003 at 8:20 PM Rating: Default
I camped the shroom 3 times, got the spell twice. Sells upwards of 3k (that is if you are VERY lucky, and no one else is sellin...) I sold one for 1500, and the other for 2500, just depends on the day.

??? Tho...what is considered a Curse, I have a lvl 47 Paly and a lvl 65 Cleric, and have NEVER had a use for this spell...

go into a LDON dungeon, and start whacking on boxes, crates and coffins. You'll get cursed fast enough.

Before LDON it was primarily the powerful guilds who raid high end zones, who needed ths spell. Now we all do !

I havent tried to get this spell yet, but I would assume that it would be hard for a lvl 39 cleric to get it. That is if it where a NO DROP item. But sence it isnt a no drop,(assuming the link is acurate)all a young cleric would need to do is go to the bazaar to purchase it. I would also assume Its gonna be pricey. So save you copper and I'll see you in the game.

Pricey is an understatement. 4-5k on average for a lvl 39 spell is ridiculous. What actually makes it difficult is not killing Sappro, but finding him up or not camped. Worse thing is I usually find it camped by plat mongering wizards.
Very useful
# Sep 14 2003 at 2:36 AM Rating: Default
In addition to the luclin mobs and a few LOY mobs, this spell is extremly useful in LDoN.

In LDoN, most of the traps, be it on the ground or in chests/boxes/etc are curse based. They usually have unpleasantly sounding names that end with the word 'curse'. Usually someone in the group will either ask or try themeselves to cure it with cure disease or poison, they will fail.

Those curses DO hurt, a lot. At one point our group got hit by a trap that caused all our spells to take a lot longer to cast, gate was 9seeconds :o most heals were so slow, we were seriously messed.

Another curse we got hit by was a 100hp/tick dot. It wiped out our group and i had barely enough time to gate and then die.

This is because curses do not run out like poisons and diseases, they stay with you till you die or get the curse lifted.

And here comes this spell and the reason why its so useful. With this spell you will be able to save your group's lives and/or sanity in many cases while you adventure in LDON.

The first version of this spell, at level 24, costs 12 adventure points and i see in it butcherblock wayfarer's camp. Second version of this spell at 39 comes from a mob in echo caverns.

SO yeah, if you are planning on adventuring in LDON, which at the time of writing is the latest expansions and thus has the best exp (whenever an expansion comes out, the exp there is better than the 'old world', remember when kunark express came out for example?) this spell is extremly useful and very recomended.

Dzauron, cleric.

Maybe I am wrong on this.... But if this spell reduces the curse counter by 4, then curses do have a duration. The problem is that curse counters are extremely long and most do not live to see then end of it unless someone cures them. I was in a ldon and got cursed once by a trap that basically made you very drunk for a very longtime.... And yes I did out live the curse and it eventually faded. Trust me curses do have a duration.

Try a 600 DoT/Per Tick. Luckily the Cleric got lost and wasn't near the chest to get infected(no, the traps are NOT zone-wide, atleast this one wasn't) Since we comepleted the quest, he rezzed us so it was fun.
which???
# Aug 16 2003 at 4:37 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, bottom line, can someone tell me which spells are considered curses that this will work on?
Difficult
# Jul 13 2003 at 8:40 PM Rating: Default
I know this is a good spell to have because of the above posts. However it sure is a pain trying to get because the only guy that drops it is The Great Saph. in Echo caverns. He spawns about every three hours and its a rare drop. Being a lvl 39 cleric now it kind of makes me wonder if it should be this hard to obtain. I'll keep trying though.

I have had this spell for quite some time now and have often had the Sun Revenants in Scarlet Desert cast curse on me.

So far, not one casting of this spell has cured it. I've sat and casted it 6 times in a row with no effect.

I have also tried cure disease as a last resort to no effect too. I really do think Remove Curse needs to be looked at if it doesn't remove curses...
RE: Does this EVER work?
# Aug 31 2003 at 9:12 PM Rating: Decent
Agreed...I too have had this spell for quite sometime. I confirm that it does not remove Sun Revenant's curse, nor any other negative effect that I've encountered.
Can someone please confirm whether or not this spell actually works? Thank You.

Update: I had a Sun Revenant Magistrate hit me with two curses at the same time.
<1st> Sun Revenants Curse..(could not remove.)
<2nd> Curse of the Revenant..(My Remove Curse spell worked the first try.)

Note that this spell only removes 8 curse counters. Some of the more powerful curses add over 40 counters, so keep casting.
this Vs Nullify Magic
# Mar 31 2003 at 12:49 PM Rating: Default
I gather from reading about it that this sell will ONLY remove negative effects. Not like Nullify Magic which can end up removing BoA, Kei, and anyother opsitive buffs you have. An I right?
RE: this Vs Nullify Magic
# Mar 31 2003 at 2:38 PM Rating: Decent
Curse-type spells are their own class. Curses do not go away, EVER, until they are dispelled with either this spell, Remove Greater Curse, or the new Bard Song, Aria of Innocence.

Dispell magic will not remove curses, and remove curse will not remove anything BUT curses.

This is false. Some curses will fade given time. For example the "drunken curse" from LDoN's will fade after an hour or less. Sun Revenants' Curse also fades after 30 or 40 seconds ( if you live, that's a nasty bugger). Ok, maybe the SRC is a dot... but not that "drunk effect" from LDoN. Also in LDoN there is a curse which lowers attack ratiing, that too will fade after time. Our groups always wait until the mission is a success before attempting boxes, barrels or chests, so a non-damaging curse is no big deal.

# Mar 26 2003 at 2:43 AM Rating: Default
some LoY named mobs use curses. one is called Enfeeblemind which has a LONG duration and causes MAD fizzlerate like your a lvl 1 caster trying to cast lvl 60 spell witl ZERO casting skill pts. its embarassing as hell to see your screen fill up with fizzle messages. makes you look worse than a hybrid trying to cast something they've never practiced at.
Enchanter Tashan line?

If you have ever been to SD, you know the importance of this spell. Sun reaveants (or lucin mobs in general) in scarlet desert cast curse based spells alot. Not havimg this spell is kind of like back in the days in pc when you got creeping crude and needed to find someone with cure disease to get rid of it. You may not use it a lot, but when you need it, you'll be glad you have it.
RE: Have a use?
# Jan 30 2003 at 11:09 AM Rating: Good
If you've been hit by a curse-based DoT, then you KNOW the use of this spell.

Only a few Luclin MoBs use curse-based spells, but apparently they are DoTs that don't wear off, ever, until they are removed with either this spell or Remove Greater Curse. I know Lord Seru uses curse-based spells.
