I swear this spell is NEVER going to drop! I'v been hunting for it for four days straight now.... going from zone to zone, killing the mobs in succession (with th exception of th raid mobs. Still nothing. BY th way, vampire s are horrible resistant to poison and disease.... so much so that i don't even try to cast my dots any more...
Well once upon a time while mapibg the Grimling forest at level 46 or 48 (cannot remember now) I ran across this OwlBear on the Morden Rasp (Povar) server he coned Drk Blu to my Primalist BST so I let my warder CatBoy go after him. Avisiris was not to difficuld at that level and I was only bringing him down for the little exp I could hopefully get. This was the first ever encounter with him and had no ideah that he was a lvl 56 Spell droping Mob and Low and behold he drops this spell Spirit of Flame. Now I was not paying any attention to this basically due to the fact's that 1)I did not know about the spell 2) I thought it was the Low level fire Proc for my warder from sooo many levels ago as the whole of the Grimling Forest was just about all Green to my toon then. 3) the mob was so easy to kill at my then lvl 46 or 48.
So I never looked at it a second time I wound up selling it alond with the other junk loot i had aquires earlier that day.

I know I know, I wish I had thought at the time to look into the future of my toon then I would have know that the Warder Procs after like level 50 are seemingly all mob drops and the mobs all but this Avisiris OwlBear require some serious group action to kill! I wish the mobs we all soloable by the level of toon that the spells require but alas this is not so.
So as far as camping Avisiris my toon is now level 56 and I have only camped him for a couple of days now al in all probably 12 hours in total.
the cycle of the spawns seems a bit random but do happen about every 6 to 8 min as allready reported. There are Owlbear Razorbacks that are Light Blue and some Drk Blu and then Avisiris who so far is allways Drk Blue to my toon at level 56 but that all go down with no effort. I even killed several of them completly unbuffed sooo... I put all the exp to my AA's for this camp as its better there than is is on my normal exp bar. Know I know the mob drops the spell or at least he did just a month ago but so far every Kill but one resulted in no loot of anykind after I killed him for the 10th time he did Drop the Gloves( nice lowbie gloves) but so far after about 30 Avisiris kills thats it just the gloves. I know its hard to just sit and camp like that for some but unless you have a good group then there really is no other way. so I will be patient and Camp-ON! I will do a little note taking next time and post them here for all to see.

Camped Avisiris in Grimling Forest at loc -840, +1310 on Bristlebane Server with my 55 Beastlord. Spawns occur every 6-8 minutes.
07/29/05 Played for 5 hours killed nothing but Owlbear Razorbeaks. Avisiris never spawned.
07/30/05 Played 8 hours. Avisiris was there when I logged in. Killed him.....nothing. He spawned 5 more times during the 8 hours. Never once dropped anything.
07/31/05 Played 4 hours. Killed Avisiris 4 times. The only loot was a No Drop Shawl that had about a third of the stats the one I wear has.
The O.R.'s conned LB and DB to me. Avisiris was always DB. Both are easily killed without outside buffs. Figuring I was killing 1 every 10 minutes I killed 92 O.R.'s and 10 Avisiris's. Not going to waste my time anymore in that spot. If I ever do decide to go back and I get the spell. Forget K's, I going price at 3Meg plat.

As of today 4-28-2005 Avisiris still drops the Spell: Spirit of Flame on The Rathe (Karana)Server, I thought I would camp him to see if he still spawned, while waiting I camped out to another toon parked at another camp place and when i came back into Grimmling Forest there he was and he dropped the spell. Next spawn he popped again! Naked, nothing on him, two more spawns and he popped again and dropped the gloves.

I camped Avisiris for 2 days in Grimling Forest, everyone that tracked him said that he tracked to other side of zone. After submitting a petition, and not receiving a reply, we decided to go to Tenebrous Mountains and try our luck at Renaldok Masric again. When we got there our 70th level ranger said mob was on track. We cleared out entry way of the other vampires, and then our ranger went upstairs and pulled a few more down. We did this for about 20 minutes and then he found Renaldok and pulled him down to us. This fight lasted all of 4 minutes tops. I looted the Spirit of Flame spell and some black marble looking thing, not sure name, was too excited that my spell dropped. we took this vampire out with a total of 6 of people:

Just got this spell to drop today after about 8 straight hours of camping. I had been camping this off and on for the last few weeks or so. dropped from Avisiris in Grimling Forest at loc

I took my 56 bst (Zaax) to the Grimling Forest last night with a 55 wiz friend. I camped the spot by the Succor Pt near loc -840, +1310 (as mentioned in the other posts). My friend camped a spot in between the stream and the path near +719, -240 (Razorbeak spawns by small tree). We found that both locations spawned the Owlbear Razorbeaks. We camped both sites for about 3 hours. The wizzy had 5 named spawn, but no spell. She did get the shawl & gloves on two drops. I had 1 named spawn at my location during the 3 hours. She left and I moved to her camp spot. 2 more hours later, two named (Avisiris) spawned simultaneously. The second one had the spell, Spirit of Fire!! I would suggest camping the 2nd location where I found success. Good luck and plan on a long wait. We solo-ed these mobs fairly easily.

I just want to confirm that this spell does drop off of the named owlbear Aviriris in Grimling Forest. It dropped for me yesterday morning around 11am CST. It did take a lot of camping to get it to drop, so be willing to take your time.

Got this spell to drop last night in The Deep off of Lhurgoz the Decayed. Only took 2 spawn cycles for it to drop.
Sigh 6 hours of camping still no spell and not enough exp at lvl 58 to be happy. Some loot but still I want to move on. Had to gave a few to help or they would eat me.

Can this spell be researched? I heard that bst spells can be, and i know that Acumen is researchable.

Hate to point out the obvious, but another good reason for using this would be that its our highest Fire based pet proc. Rellic is better now that they added the dex, but it is Cold based. So in situations where you are fighting mobs who are known to be resistant to Cold based attacks, using this Fire based spell makes alot of sense... to me anyway. Do I think its rare and overpriced? Without a doubt... but, as beastlords most of our spells are realatively cheap and easy to obtain. Take a look at other classes spells sometime and you'll see we actually have it pretty darn good. No need to flame me, just giving my 2cp. :)

Dumb about sums you up...without giving you a grammar lesson let me explain a few things about this spell. This spell, like many others has it uses (if you had ever played a beastlord you would know this...and that we dont have taunt). I have used this spell on my beastlord in pet groups constantly. The goal is to keep aggro on the player, not the pets. So boys and girls, would this proc come in handy? Yes... Perhaps said beastie is wanting to "ghetto fear", which means his pet needs to be low on hate list. Beastlord blinds mob after buidling aggro, sends pet, and steps away. The mob will now flee as though feared, with pet beating on it. This works as long as the beastlord is higher on the hate list than his pet...so would I wont a proc that adds hate or lowers hate for my pet? As for out taunting high level beastlords pets, perhaps you failed to realize that an NPC will always turn from a pet to a PC regardless of how much hate is on the pet. As for controling adds, beastlord pets have one of the highest taunts in the game, so as long as he had pet taunting, even with this spell he could taunt it off the cleric or enchanter provided they back up...otherwise even with the pet using spirit of rellic and taunting he is going to pound the PC over a pet. Perhaps next time before you going bashing a spell, you will at least take the time to investigate it, maybe even play the class, and remember that pets do have taunt so the proc is just an added bonus.

Are you dumb? A right buffed bst pet procs every at last one time a tick, so this does a really good amount of damage!

I'm sure there could be some situation in which you don't want your pet to build aggro during raids.
But, as you pointed, it is useful for aggro kiting.
Of course, without snare, it's not easy, but it still is a good way for beastlords to solo... Of course you have to pick up mobs that you can outrun with sow...

Is this spell the Beastlord's highest pet proc spell? I have looked throught the spell list and I don't see any higher lvl spells of this line.
If it is, then this is a little bit disappointing. I know I shouldn't complain and Beastlords are a great class with a lot of advantage's. But, we have nothing to add to our pet proc after lvl 56? Seems silly to me. Maybe they should add a new one at 65, or maybe make this spell not available till the 60's.

I must be one of the luckiest bsts in the game. Bought spirit of snow from a vendor in pok for about 10pp, (not there anymore) wish i had stocked up on it. Was wandering through grimling forest and found a named owlbear, easy kill for a 52 bst, nothing dropped. 6 hours later, killed it numerous times, (spawned every 2 or 3 times ph died, and was getting good xp). and then this spell dropped. WOOT, YAHOO, and a bunch of other congrats to me. told a fellow bst friend about it, and they camped him for 12 hours straight, no spell dropped, next day GF was redone again and named got nerfed. or at least i haven't been able to get it to spawn again (dreams of being able to sell a 50kpp spell)

Geezus why do they make these mobs soooo high? And the drops soooo rare? Granted now that i'm lvl 55 and i bought (fer almost 10k on Povar) Spirit of Snow i should be able to take this dude solo, cept he's a wizzy, and there's prolly a hord of vamps waitin to naw on me once i arrive. /sigh. grrreat looks like either gettin my guild (what little bit of 55's i have) to raid it, or to just hunt RM EVERYDAY til i gather 60k to buy this one. That's right 60!! someone did they're homework. Anyone on Povar wanna help???? send me a tell...... pls :(

this spell gives pet a 142 dd fire based proc, 2.0 sec stun and decreases hate by 50. durn good id say! got it today, dropped off renaldoc masric, the winged vampire in the cathedral in tenebrous mountains. dropped right after zone crashed.
i'm still only 54 but when trying to find spirit of snow i asked another high level beasty about it, he said it sells for about 5K at the moment (veeshan server). i said how i thought i'd leave it till i get to 56 and get spirit of flame he said this was even harder to get and sells for 50K (hard to believe) but looks like i'll hav to get some groups here

So far the only place I have heard of this dropping is from the named wizard vamp in Tenebrous Mountains. Unfortunately, it also seems to be a rare drop from that mob.

aye I have gotten this from Renoldack in TM vamp castle after 2 full evening raids there. It is a very rare drop. good luck getting he is an easy drop fro a single group of 55+ that works well together.
