Comparison with Wildmagic Blast Rk. II

I like to keep one fast-casting low-mana nuke on hand to weave into my bigger nukes, so I can vary my efficiency on the fly. Sometimes it's good to have two of them up, in which case I'd use this and Wildmagic Blast Rk. II (being parked as I am at L85 for AAs). When I only want one of them, which is the best bang for the buck? Cast times are the same, so I'm going to look at average damage as a surrogate for average DPS when used in a rotation (e.g. when excluding recast time considerations), as well as average damage per mana (DPM).

Chaos Combustion Rk. II
Assuming "Decrease Hitpoints by 1882 to 3764 (random)" is an even distribution:
1882 + (3764-1882)/2 = 2823
Avg. damage = 2823
2823/431 ~= 6.55
DPM = 6.55

Wildmagic Blast Rk. II
1: 35% Chance to trigger: Chaos Combustion Rk. II (see above)
0.35 * 2823 = 988.05
2: 35% Chance to trigger: Claw of Gorenaire Rk. II (1: Decrease Hitpoints by 2724)
0.35 * 2724 = 953.4
3: 30% Chance to trigger: Pure Wildmagic Rk. II (1: Decrease Hitpoints by 4866)
0.30 * 4866 = 1459.8
988.05 + 953.4 + 1459.8 = 3401.25
Avg. damage = 3401
3401.25/388 ~= 8.77
DPM = 8.77

So it's pretty clear that Wildmagic Blast is superior. However, tweaking the math for my 5/5 Ro's Flaming Familiar, there's an extra 35% fire damage and nothing on the magic or cold components of WMB. So the math becomes:

Chaos Combustion Rk. II
1882 + (3764-1882)/2 = 2823
2823 * 1.35 = 3811
Avg. damage = 3811
3811/431 ~= 8.84
DPM = 8.84

Wildmagic Blast Rk. II
0.35 * 2823 * 1.35 ~= 1333.9
1333.9 + 953.4 + 1459.8 ~= 3747.1
Avg. damage = 3747
3747/388 ~= 9.66
DPM = 9.66

Which means Chaos Combustion has a slight edge in damage output, and almost catches up in mana efficiency. Of course I didn't factor in the resist mods, which are -50 for SVF/SFC, whereas the magic component of WMB has a -250 SVM mod. Personally I'll stick with Wildmagic Blast when I only want one high-efficiency spell in my rotation.
