Because... It's a song...

It's not a song, that was a myth. If it was a song it would stack with spells like Speed of Vallon and appear in the songs window, which it doesn't. You're right OP it should last longer.

from what i understand it acts like haste v3 which is like bard haste, so it will stack with worn haste AND haste from potions/buffs, but wont stack with bard haste. correct me if i am wrong

Increase Attack Speed means normal haste, and does not stack, spell or song.
Increase Haste v3 means overhaste and does not stack with others of the same type, but does combine with normal haste.
With these two types, you can also have Worn haste.

Worn + Normal caps at 100
Overhaste can go over the 100 cap.

Yep
The Question
# Sep 11 2004 at 11:37 AM Rating: Decent
What Version of haste is this? any1 know?

Haste stacks like this
V.0 haste -item
V.1 haste -song/spell
V.2 haste -song/spell (will say haste V2)
V.3 haste -song/spell (will say haste V3)
Proc hastes will fit into 1/2/3

So, just to help stop the spread of misinformation ...

v1 haste = Worn
v2 haste = Spell and Song
v3 haste = Overhaste (which comes from rare clickies and high level bard songs)

Haste v1 + v2 can only go to a max of 100%. v3 is the only thing that can increase your haste beyond 100%.

EXAMPLE:
- You have a worn haste item that gives you 40% v1 haste.
- You have a spell cast that gives you 65% v2 haste.
--- The total haste from both v1 and v2 in this case = 105%, but you only get 100% from it due to the cap.
- You then have a bard cast Warsong of the Vah Shir that gives you 25% v3 haste.
--- The total haste from v1, v2, and v3 = 125%.

The above post is actually the misinformation.

v0 haste = worn
v1 haste = buff -- normal spell / song / potion
v2 haste = stacking buff -- quite rare (only source is 2 bard songs at level 50 and 60) and useless type
v3 haste = overhaste buff / item AA

The highest of each type all stack together. v0, v1 and v2 combined is capped based on level. The cap maxes at 100% around level 40ish.

For example, using a 30% haste item (v0) with a 50% haste buff from distillate of alacrity X potion (v1) and a bard singing Composition of Ervaj for 10% stacking haste (v2) and Warsong of the Vah Shir for 25% overhaste (v3) you'd get:

30% (v0) + 50% (v1) + 10% (v2) + 25% (v3) = 115% total haste. 90% of that can't exceed the cap and 25% can.

However, with a 40 % item (v0) and a 70% buff from steadfast servant again with bard singing the same 2 songs Composition of Ervaj 10% (v2) and Warsong of Vah Shir 25% (v3) you'd get:

40% (v0) + 70% (v1) + 10% (v2) + 25% (v3) = 145% total haste. However, 120% of that can't exceed the cap so only 100% applies so you'll only get 125% total haste.

Most of the confusion surrounding haste is because of the v2 type. It's the weirdest and least common / useful type so can confuse people or be forgotten as with the above poster's analysis.

Another confusing thing is that you'll never see an official description of v0 or v1 haste. Worn haste (v0) is only ever shown as haste on an item. Normal buff haste (v1) is only ever described as "Increase Attack Speed by XX%" as in the effect at the top of this page. V2 and v3 haste are shown on most info sites as "Increase Haste v2 by XX%" and "Increase Haste v3 by XX%" as show in the above links for composition of ervaj and warsong of the vah shir.

TL:DR -- v0 = worn, v1 = buff, v2 = rare and useless so ignore it and v3 = overhaste. They all add up but only "extra" over haste can exceed the cap which is 100% after about level 40.

Robe of the whistling fists has a song effect, celestial fists has a spell effect. Both effects are only about 6 seconds long, and should be macroed. But celestial tranquilitiy is a spell effect, not a song effect.

How do you macro an item click? Is there a way to do it with a social? (ie "/click 4")

This would come in very handy when using click effects that you want to attach "/gsay xxx" to.

Click and hold on the item slot you want to macro, then click on the hotkey slot you want to macro it in.

Yes its a song, because you combine it with the robe, that also has a song effect, so it would turn out to be a song on the epic no wouldnt it?
Huh?
