- Magician - Converted Dyzil's Deafening Decoy and Rage of Zomm to swarm pets so that they can be used while your main pet is active. Rage of Zomm is now much costlier.

It is now a swarm pet.

Edit: It now has a base cast time of 3 seconds and costs 725 mana(lol) hits for max 52. Lasts up to 18 seconds. Unsummons itself like a cleric hammer when it has no target. Recast time is 18 seconds.

And here's why.

Rage of Zomm hits about three times harder than any other pet for awhile. Mine hits for upwards of 100 and I've seen him hit for 500.
He can root, making it an invaluable aggro management tool.
It's able to proc a group heal, making it a great pet for groups.

Sure, it only has 500-600 health, but that just means that this isn't the pet to use if you're going to be soloing. I use this pet all the time when I'm grouping, and its DPS is higher than some of the PCs I'm with. On top of that, everyone loves the heal proc.

I tend to agree with the people who rate this spell more towards the 'useless' side of the spell tree. Enchanters were turning into Scaled Wolves and passing out Boon of the Clear Mind levels ago, and we still are getting spells that we should have gotten in our forties. At 55, Enchanters (who are rediculously powerful anyway), get an AE UNRESISTABLE Tash...how are Magicians still getting worthless AoEs and spells like this?

Well if you really play the mage to post 50 you will have an idea of which pet to use and why. Each has its own purpose based on situation. If you solo mostly air or earth. If you group mostly air or water. Fire is debatedly of the least value in most situations but is sometimes used in groups or raids.

I personally dont use fire at all post 50, which is funny conidering how nice they can be pre 50.

For more detailed explainations I suggest you go read some forum discussion at magescompendium.

How do you get the pet not to depop?

I as in an adventure, our group was fighting 2 mobs, when a wanderer joined in the fight and brought in 2 more. 4 mobs on the Main tank and 1 on the 2nd tank. MT went down in a flash leaving my water pet on the first mob. I was burning and watching my pets health go down (he had Temp) and started casting Rage of Zomm as soon as he died. The mob hit me once and I regained concentration. Rage pet popped, cast a spell and depopped within 1 second of spawning.

What did I do wrong. I had agro on the mob, I had the mob targeted, I didn't get time to get pet to attack.

This was the first time I have tried to use this pet in anger.

More then likely the mob did a riposte and killed your pet. VERY FEW hitpoint but will hit for more dmg then normal ones will. IMO this isnt worth using a spell slot for in almost every instance. You would be better off having your 51 earth in that spot to chain cast in case of emergency.

Hope this helps

yah i know what you mean. i was in burnning wood and i decided to try using this pet, thinking it would kick major ****...guess not because even though i had the mob i wanted to kill targeted and casted this "rage of zomm" it just poofed right after i casted so i waited and casted again, this time he ran out to kill the sarnak but got killed in seconds. so i then casted my 49 earth pet,(accidentally)lol. and that guy killed the sarnak. rage of zomm huh? pretty dispicable when a little 49 earth pet can do more than a 55 "suppose to save your **** rage of zomm" earth pet. sorry no answer to your question, i have the same question. if this is all it can do i wouldn't want this pet in my jewel bar taking up space.

This spell has it's uses, though A shorter recast time would be good. The pet has an awesome damage potential. It is not a pet used for soloing or most group hunting.

I just recieved the pet and have used it on many named mobs who are mostly melee types. Any mob with an AE is likely to kill the pet quickly, however. A mob that ripostes, enrages, and such will also lower the efectiveness of the pet.

Group settings are good if you are handling multiple pulls at once, especially in a kiting situation. An example is in PoV, the puller gets a mob or three, i summon pet and set it after them as it is kited ... Drop BO and Expedience ... the damage is like having two pets on the mob instead of one. Just need to make sure to get the other mobs on the pets hate list or it will suicide within a short time (10-15 secs.

The only thing I wish for is a shorter recast time .. maybe 60 seconds instead of 120 ...

I fully agree with this assessment. AE mobs eat this thing up since it has very few hit points. For the same reason you must cast this against a mob that has a melee in firm control of the aggro already because a couple shots from mobs you should be fighting at this level will annihilate it.

This being said the absolute best place to use this spell is in raids against non AE mobs. I use it all the time in Kael, HoT, and other raid situations where normal pets are frowned upon or plain forbidden to use. Many of the mobs in those 2 places still resist a fair amount of my spells (as of level 60) and this pet is the only way I can keep up even close to my normal DPS.

This pet hits for 70 points a shot and if the fight is going to last long enough it is worth it to put cast Burnout on it. At a cost of 200 mana this can be one of the most efficient spells in your ******* much like our sometimes overlooked damage shields.

Don't know why verant or whoever gave magicians some useless high lvl spells. other classes get really useful spells each level in the 50s, but not us mages. Most of the time you use this spell after getting agro and having no pet, the pet depops after summoned, and it has almost no hp to help save you if your real pet died. Plus the cast time is too long to be effective, its barely shorter then a real pet. I used to love using fire pets pre-50, so why did they have to mess with them and make them mostly useless low damage dealing assisters in 50s? I don't really understand that cause they haven't helped me solo or do groups/raids much even with the 58 fire pet and his stuns, which dont work on various mobs anyways. pant..pant sorry bout the ranting, just my 2cp
