More useful when you extend the duration...

It should be noted that the AA 'Spell Casting Reinforcement' and buff duration enhancement focus effects will add to the duration of the spell. This obviously means the spell can scout a much larger area when you have a fair number of AA's and focus effects dedicated to spell duration extensions.

I currently am getting roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds duration, both with the AA previously mentioned and duration-boosting focus effects. And it can go even higher, I figure to around 3 minutes eventually. This 'eye' could travel a pretty fair distance in that time!

Guildmates and I were doing SoD progression tonight and they needed me to cast the eye ball to scout around for the named we needed to kill. Pretty useful spell.

But still good for Mages if you have Expend Companion AA.

Most use I've found for this spell, is Scouting Phinigel in Kedge, as the extended time is needed when your eye moves so slow in water.
invis

ANY invis kills pet, including vs animals and undead, thus why it kills pets and zomm doesnt. this one does last a while longer though, and invis does mean something wont sneak up on you while you are scouting around. mage pets arent necessarily cheap, only time killing off a pet is really bad is if youve summoned and gave him some summoned equipment. probably generally more useful for wizards though.

For a Wizzie this is not a problem since we don't get a pet per se. The pet we do get at 59 is basically a DOT that lasts until the mob is dead. We get a familiar but most of the time it's sent away anyway. Flapping noise is annoying, and the familiar is confusing in a group because its distracting.

Great Wizzie spell.

LoL, well if you are in a group that thinks that your familiar is distracting... it's time to find another group lol.

I never used eye of zomm because it lasts such a small amount of time, but once you get this spell it makes dungeon crawling much easier, especially when you're in an LDoN and you need to find the quickest way to your target. Great spell!

Why does the lvl 8 spell: eye of zomm, not destroy your pet when cast; however this lvl 57 upgraded spell: eye of tallon does?

It would seem this is a down grade rather then upgrade. I use the lvl 8 spell to see around corners so my pet does not go pop.

<Xegony> Smiley: disappointed

Eye of Tallon makes you invisible. Eye of Zomm does not. Explain anything? =)

When youre invisible; your pet destroys itself. Sadly to say, even invis to undead kills anyones pet. I found this out at a General raid (for rogue epic) and the beastlord had to resummon and rebuff her warder because i invis vs. undead'd her =( take caution when using invis in groups with pet classes!

Ok to make it simple... Cast a pet then cast invis... Enough said

Eye of Zomm lasts a short time?? I get enough time to run it around several corners and have 3 pac's casted. I'd say well over 15 seconds of travel time. I am wearing a leather mantle, but I don't think that extends the life of the Zomm.
