They revamped the fire pets a little while ago to do 50% less melee damage, but to cast a single fire nuke often and it self roots while in combat, making it difficult to move it around mid fight.
Basic info (rough estimates):
-HP: 1500
-Damage Shield: 49
-Melee Dmg: 25 (quads pretty often)
-Spell Dmg: 460 (can chain cast this sometimes every 2 or so seconds for amazing burst, longest i have seen it go w/o casting is about 10 seconds)
-Does not seem to bash or kick
I've tanked with this pet, with the level 52 pet heal, in Old Sebilis, Grigg's End, and the lower dogs area in Velks. While definitely not the tankiest pet, the DS and nuke add so much damage most of my time was just spent healing, and kill speed was still decent.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Make sure you Malo every mob this pet is attacking. The nuke can be resisted pretty often which will drastically decrease its effectiveness. I've seen differences between this pet doing 50 DPS without Malo, to upwards of 200 DPS with Malo. It's mandatory.

This pet is a beast! With pet weapons from the bazaar and the usual pet haste with phantom plate armor, this pet rips through the mobs in POD.
Is this pet any better if you have the Torch of Alna??
No, the Torch of Alna is for pet levels 49 and below.

Ive seen a few ppl use this pet b4 they seem 2 have no prob with killing a mob that they get exp from,this pet casts wizzy spells which is wonderful!

I found the 52 fire pet to be useless in both soloing and group situations.
Even with full buffs and summoned armor, it loses hit points faster than the monster summon 2 pet and even the level 49 fire pet. During melee, it hits with 50% less power (max is about 28 dmg?) and hits 25% less often.
Bottom line, it has horrible dps (damage per second) rating. I am safer with the monster summon 2 or even level 49 line of pets than I am with this one.

uhh....no this pet rocks.it casts amazing spells and **** but dont solo with it....

I personally love this pet. The spells it can cast can be very usefull. I know the AE snare has saved me on several occasions. Now that we have Kindle it can cast more often. True, you have to rethink your soloing strategies, but we are mages. We turn obscure tactics into profitable strategies. Since it can cast the actuall spell root, back him off and he will automatically cast his personal buffs. Fresh Steelskin. Hit attack and theres a couple more DD spells. You dont gain aggro and it saves you a little mana for healing.

The level has been defenitely increased - now the pet casts Greater shielding, Steelskin, ETC - still no good for being a tank but a great help in a support position.

I don't think this pet can be bought. If it can, it is sold in Fironia Vie or the Overthere.

This pet basically acts like a Wiz and hits for a max of around 29? Not a real helpful spell soloing, but kind of cool for parties.
