About this spell

This spell is really sweet in that it is not a spectre illusion lich (which while looks cool, wont let you ride a horse - Arch Lich). Demi Lich is a skele illusion and will allow you to med while sitting on a horse.

Also, a note about our lichs and FD. If you are in lich form and Feign Death (the effect), don't sit there and lich yourself to death; and yes you can do that. Click on the lich buff icon and you will return to flesh form and yet still be indifferent to the mob that might have attacked you. I have seen necro's kill themselves with lich because the didnt realize they could click it off while FD.

Another note... if you are begging KEI and are a Necro, don't come group with me. You are sacrificing allot of mana (killing uptime), because you are using KEI rather than Lich. Lich line spells are the "cat's meow" when it comes to mana regen. Just make sure you get hp stuff as well as int and mana gear so that you have the hps to lich yourself down some and still have a fair amount of hps.

The lich line is also a must have in uber guild raiding and sometimes with grouping, just so you have the mana to give to the cleric or chanter when he / she runs low. Trying to run on KEI or better even, rather than lich only means you are also making the group less than what they could be. The cleric or chanter will run lom in a bad pull and you wont have any mana to give them. You will have essentially killed your group just because you didn't want to lich. lol.

One thing you have to learn is using Vexing Mordina or one of the lifetap line of spells in conjunction with this one so that you are at Full health and full mana at all times. It takes some balancing, but once you got it, you can be the energizer bunny and just keep going, and going.. and going.....

Professor Taeldien is correct on all points.

I have yet to see a necro going with a 14 mana per tick KEI over a 20 mana per tick Lich or 31 mana per tick Demi Lich! If I do I will be sure to suspend them from the local Union of Bones until they retake Professor Taeldien class.

I would like to say that this spell Demi-Lich is well worth the 3k to 10k you will be asked to pay for it.

When I did my run from lv 49 to 56( before the revamp of all caster spells ) I noticed a hard core mana crunch without demi-lich. Going from 56 to 60 just using Lich would be nothing short of a nightmare. Think ahead and start saving or looking for the research words needed. Make it your number one priority. Necros who are OOM before they do anything special are a total joke and waste of a raid / group spot. If you are to cheap to buy this spell I suggest you go play a tight *** druid where your slacker play style will fit right in.

48hp/31mana ? What?
# Jul 08 2003 at 11:20 PM Rating: Decent
This is Interesting:

I'm a 59 Necro. I regen 9hp/tick sitting and 6 standing, I have innate regen 3. According teo eq.castersrealm.com I shoudl be 10sitting/7standing but whatever. Here is what is interesting:
With Demi-Lich on I lose 30 standing and 29 sitting. which means Demi-Lich is taking away 38hps TOTAL when I'm sitting(29+9), and 36 TOTAL when I'm standing(30+6). What is wrong with this picture, this isn't even close to the 48hp/tick mentioned. Now Demi-Lich is Alteration, so I'm assumng it lowered the amoutn of damage I take because of that. So I tried casting it several times, I thought maybe I had to meet the specialization check.. I did every time either that or spec Alt. doens't have anything to do with it and the stats of this spell are incorrect, or mei-lich with spec alt will always lower the amount of damage that one takes. Do some tests, what did you guys find out.

The answer to this is actually quite simple. The damage that all of our convergence spells do is considered to be a detrimental PvP spell and all detrimental PvP spells will only do 75% of thier damage. You can do tests with all of the convergence spells and see that they all only do 75% of the hp damage to you compared to what is stated by lucy.

I can confirm this, with Demi Lich I lose 36 hp per tick, exactly 75% of 48.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 25 2003 at 10:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well it may say your a "Master" with your research skill of > 100 but I have a feeling that it takes 180 to 200 to triv on this research. Note with my skill at 161 I just became triv with lv 44 research. Keep saving those words folks. You need to work that skill up. I suggest spending lots of PP at the guild. Hope you saved up them skill points.

49 and higher spells never trivial. In the days before PoP level 49 were the highest level reseached spells and would have been impossible to max research through practice (You can train research to 200 though)

Actually I think 49 spells MAY trivial at 200, unsure though.
Correcting myself
# Aug 26 2003 at 11:36 PM Rating: Decent
Correcting myself ... Above skill level 181 level 49 spells become trivial, I started another necro and tested it out and sure enough at 181 I got the trivial message. In addition to this at 183 level 51 spells become trivial, this makes me believe that the formula for trivials is 181+(Spell's level - 49).

So a level 50 spell would be 181+(50-49)=182

And a 60 spell would be 181+(60-49=192)

This is purely a guess, I'll update as he goes up in the final levels of his research.
Fine and Dandy

Well this new research stuff is all fine and dandy. But it seems the words are as rare a drop as the actual spell.

How to Get
# Mar 29 2003 at 1:16 PM Rating: Decent
I copied this from a link in www.eqcaster.com for the necro spell. Also, note that you must be a "master" in research. That is, Reseach > 100):

This spell can now be researched. You must already be a master in research. Go to Gunthak and find the merchant researcher just past the light house. Hail him and say "I am a (what ever caster class you play)" and he will give you a new book to do your combines in. He also happens to have the books for sale to tell you what is needed to make the newly researchable spells. When done with the books just sell em back to him for close to the same price. This spell is in the book called
Fecae's Memoir Volume III. All of these newly researchable spells you must have the new combine book, a quill, and a piece of parchment, along with the correct words. In this case words of awareness,
tenancy, and revenant.
Researchable??
# Mar 18 2003 at 3:47 PM Rating: Decent
With the LoY expansion, I've heard numerous times that the lvl 50+ spells are now researchable, besides being dropped.
Anyone know the words these spells use?
