On the time-locked progression server, Coirnav, I got this in the Plane of Sky on the Keeper of Souls island.
Question

What exactly does Increase Disease Counter by 16 mean? Does this make the mob more Disease resistant? Or what?
RE: Question
# Nov 19 2004 at 5:14 PM Rating: Default
the tendancy for a buff to avoid being removed is basically connected to how many counters it takes up. e.g. it would take two abolish disease (i think removes 9 counters) to remove this (i.e. 2*9>16)

hp regen spell Quiescence .

The theory the OP from 2004 would be proposing is something like:

-use the Area of Effect slow on the incoming train of mobs in a raid. Cast the health regen spell on yourself to soak the early hits you (shaman caster of the slow) will take before rest of raid (or appropriate person) takes aggro.

This is the only post 51 slow that is usefull. Otherwise dont waste time or money on the other crappy slow spells.
Death wish?

Is this spell a guaranteed death or is there actually a hate reduction with it? Would be usefull for bad pulls when you lack a chanter but not if it gets you killed.

This spell is actually useful. Yes the AE type slow spell can deffinately become a huge CR for a shammy, but used wisely can be quite effective. I use it when I'm raiding quite a bit. Usually when pullers are clearing areas they pull 5+ mobs to about 12-20 other people. 1 or 2 well placed AE slows will save you a ton of mana. Yes sometimes its resisted by a mob or two, but i've landed it alot more than i miss even at 61. Most of the time on raids there are 3 or more slowers and even though this is only a 50% slow it really helps cut down on damage your raid party recieves initially, as well as saving the lives of support who draw aggro from mezzes etc. When fighting in regular groups I hardly use this spell, but it is in my gem just in case. It can be quite effective in getting instant aggro to train, or when landed efectively spare your group from a bad pull CR. Like any good spell practice with it will make you quite effective, and one of our main jobs is to be the group/raid slower it makes sense to work with an AE slow as well.
re what?

this spell is also diseased based and can land easier then regular slow.

Why does it say Resist: MAGIC(0) then... are you sure?

My experience has been that this is definitely magic based. Although the resists seem to be about the same as Tigir's, I use this spell quite often in LDoN missions. As long as you have someone who can peel off one or two mobs that rarely rush you its a great way to save mana and the puller when you get a big pull.

I keep my pet back to handle any that rush me, but often they dont come after me even when I get resists. The hate reducer may or may not work if the mob resists, but with a little practice you will learn to love this spell in LDon. Smiley: clap

One other thing, if you are AoEing mobs who have the same name it can be be a real pain to figure out which one resists when you get a resist. Try to watch the animations to see who is hitting faster and ask the tanks to help you out in targeting the unslowed ones.

I haven't been doing the planes lately so I can't comment on its usefulness there yet. Don't forget that if you are too close to the target you will slow yourself also, and overwrite buffs like I did if you are full on buffs. Smiley: jester

I paid 2k on the Rathe btw, and it was well worth it. Enjoy and be safe.

Why use this spell when the 51 spell has a 70% and its the same mana? I think its something to do with the hate thing though

The hate reducer is great but the main reason is because the AoE effect is a good raid tool. For groups until the puller comes back with too many mobs then instead of targeting that one then that one then that one and all the recast time ect you just cast this and BAM you can start slowing with Tigurs individualy and not worry if it resists cuz they are already slowed enough to not hurt your shammyness too bad before melee can come help ya out!!

Because this spell is an AE spell....it slows more mobs at the same time ;-)
