This has very little to do with FT, but, I had to write this down somewhere so it would be picked at by all the uber folks out there.
In trying to explain necro twitching to my friend, I ended up taking 2 days figuring all this out.
I ask all the number crunchers, know-it-alls, and everyone else to please go through it with a fine tooth comb, and place corrections / comments here.
Thank you for your time and effort.
Here we go!
=======================================
Let's see. 3 twitch spells available to necros:
Rapacious Subversion (level 24)
Covetous Subversion (level 44)
Sedulous Subversion (level 56)
(Do you see why we call them "twitch" instead of the real name? LOL)
=========================
Penetrating the surface
=========================
Rapacious Subversion (level 24) 200mana cost = 60 mana for you
Covetous Subversion (level 44) 300mana cost = 100 mana for you
Sedulous Subversion (level 56) 400mana cost = 150 mana for you
=========================
Deeper.
=========================
Rapacious Subversion (level 24) 200mana cost = 60 mana for you
0.3 gained/lost
Covetous Subversion (level 44) 300mana cost = 100 mana for you
0.33333... gained/lost
Sedulous Subversion (level 56) 400mana cost = 150 mana for you
0.375 gained/lost
=========================
Harder.
=========================
All twitches take 3.0sec to cast and 48sec to refresh. 8.5ticks between shots. (Rounded down)
Rapacious Subversion (level 24) 60 mana for you = 7mana/tick (Clarity)
Covetous Subversion (level 44) 100 mana for you = 11 mana/tick (C2)
Sedulous Subversion (level 56) 150 mana for you = 17 mana/tick (C4)
=========================
Faster.
=========================
Sometimes, once every 8.5 ticks isn't enough. So you can chain cast two different levels. To make numbers easy, let's say 1 tick a cast. First, the highest level twitch lands. That's when the clock starts. One tick later the next level lands. Followed by the lowest level twitch last. (if applicable) Let's break down the possibilities: (Y = what you get) (N = what necro loses) (G = apparent mana/tic gained by you [Mana regen equivalent]) (C = apparent mana/tic lost by necro)
Level 44 + Level 24 = (Y)160 mana = (N)500mana = (G)18mana/tic [C5] = (C)58mana/tic
Level 56 + Level 24 = (Y)210 mana = (N)600mana = (G)24mana/tic [Lich + 4] = (C)70mana/tic
Level 56 + Level 44 = (Y)250 mana = (N)700mana = (G)29mana/tic [Demi-Lich - 2] = (C)82mana/tic
Level 56 + Level 44 + Level 24 = (Y)310mana = (N)900mana = (G)36mana/tic [Arch Lich + 1] = (C)105mana/tic
=========================
The after shocks
=========================
What does this do to your poor necro? How can he keep up? Let's calculate!
Meditate skill.
---------------
Capped at 250 = 25mana/tic. (might be changed now, but I doubt it)
NOTE: With a horse, it counts as if you are meditating at all times. (Hence, no need to stand up and cast, stopping normal meditation)
Seduction of Saryn (Level 64 HP to mana spell)
------------------
50mana/tic for 63hp/tic
Force Shield (Level 63 Personal Rune spell)
------------
2mana/tic
Gift of Brilliance (Level 60 Enchanter spell)
------------------
2mana/tic
Flowing Thought items and AA points
-----------------------------------
18mana/tic (FT 15 + MC 3)
Spiritual Dominion (Level 64 Beastlord spell)
------------------
9mana/tic
Chorus of Marr (64 Bard song, at level 65)
-----------------------------
21mana/tic (without instruments)
Let's add them up shall we? 25+50+2+2+18+9+21 = 127mana/tick max. (more with powerful string instrument for the bard)
As far as HP loss goes, +3HP from AA, +9hp from SD, +20 from bard song, +25hp from shaman regen, and about 10HP from sitting on the hoss = 67hp/tic
=========================
Make it so
=========================
With this ultimate set up, BST and Pet tanking, Bard melee, my pet, shammy pet, Enchanter dire charmed pet are the melee.
By just feeding YOU the cleric, I still have +22mana/tic and +4HP/tic.
How's that for a jolly sunday morning chat?
