What this does

The parsers and technicalities on effects that change aggro such as these can be weird.

When you LOWER by a POSITIVE number, such as in this case, you actually increase how much the mob hates you.

When you LOWER by a NEGATIVE number, you actually decrease how much a mob hates you. The ranger's Jolt, Cinder Jolt, and Jolting Blades does that. That is a VERY powerful and needed spell line as well. I wish I knew how much Jolt reduced aggro, if I find it I'll post it here.

700 aggro is by no means anything to sneeze at, that's TONS of aggro. This weapon should be used very carefully. If you're on a raid and you're not the main or secondary tank, PUT THIS AWAY.

Lowering your agro by a positive number is kind of a contradictory statement. Why not avoid all the confusion and say that it modifies your agro by +### or -###?

The messages are messed up. The text "lowers you on the hate list by..." is not from Verant AFAIK, it's what whoever wrote the casters realm spdat parser came up with. It should be read as "Adds X to your agro" or something. Positive numbers = more hate (this one, warrior epic proc), negative numbers = less hate (ranger jolt, wizard concussion or whatever)

Pretty sure Jolt reduces agro by 500. Possibly 400.

Jolt reduces agro by -500. Any weapon or spell dealing with agro that doesn't have a "-" infront of the number increases the amount of hate or agro produced. Prime example would be the warrior epic which is designed to increase agro toward the weilder.

Pretty sure it increases your hate by 700, not lowers it :).

that's exactly what it does, the spdat file just shows it as reducing hate by a positive # = increase hate. The ranger line of spells reduce hate by negative #'s = reduce hate. It's programer logic but the effect is the same, increase agro by 700 = uber taunt.

How do you view the spdat.eff file? With what program?
