surely, the 520 total are a mistake? thats about less than one average hit of the mobs we're fighting at that lvl.

It's a vie type of spell.
It blocks 10% of all incomming damage.
If you have a mob that is hitting 5200 or more, the max it will block is 520, but it will continue to do so for every hit that comes in.
It's still blocking damage off every hit while the spell is active, not like a rune that fades once the max is reached.

ah well, that would make it at least somewhat useful, provided it lasts for more than a tick - does anyone know how the tick duration is increased? it says L1 to L9, but what levels does that refer to?

re. aggro, I have to say it's a real waste of space - I entusiastically memmed it, but, after many hundred mobs, I dememmed it and took it out of my normal tanking lineup.

whatever the theory, in practice, it simply does not generate anywhere near enough aggro fast in order to get aggro over hard and fast hitting groupmembers in a serious grind - there, the good 'ole lvl 66 piety / lvl 7 cease combo still rules them all (how exciting!!); in longer fights, I might use this but its only a little bit of convenience as in longer fights where I am tanking, my dps doesnt matter too much anyway, so I can still cast the before mentioned stuns and maybe the occasional aa stun; to sum it up, another spell which is hardly ever used.

A bit late, so I hope you have learned the usefulness by now.
But, incase anyone wonders.
It's not for fast agro.
It's for the mitigation boost, and steadily builds agro for a few ticks while you do other things.

So you cast this on something, you get the mitigation. Then while you stun for a fast set amount of agro, or swapping weapons, or changing targets, or whatever, this spell is building extra agro for you, each tick. It helps over time. Very very handy on mobs that mem blur as well, like the wolf in the Harfange event.
