Anatomy/Assassination

Does anyone have any updated information about the lvs a Rogue can Assassinate a target.

Let us say lv 70 without any points into Anatomy? How far down in lvs can the Rogue Assiassinate a target?

Any insight would be appreciated or an updated website with a chart.
backstab from front w/o aa

i have a 47 rogue on prexus and i have been playing him for a few days in a row now, and i just began noticing today that while tanking (i play just healer merc and i with DS pots) that i am able to successfully backstab from the front just as well as from the back. from the back my high backstabs are about 270 my lows are about 65, and w/sneak attack i am doing about 350. from the front i am getting the same dmg/hit rate.

is anyone else noticing they can backstab from in front w/o aas? if you dont believe me you may try making a rogue and see if you can backstab from in front. when i inquired in general if anyone knew about this, a 46 rogue reported the same experience today. i am not sure if i was able to yesterday, i only accidentally notcied it today while tanking solo with merc.

regardless, i am not putting in a bug report... why not backstab from the front til i get the aa ><

Edit: A fairly old rogue page says in its backstab section that "if you use the backstab attack from the front, it counts as an extra, normal pierce attack, but it will not trigger double attack and/or dual wield. You also will not gain skill points in backstab using it from the front."

Another old site further elaborates, and defines backstab as "an extra attack that does damage as a MULITPLE of the damage stat of [the rogue's] weapon." It goes on to say that "the rogue must be behind the mob when hitting Backstab to do this damage, otherwise the extra attack does only normal damage"

So before obtaining Chaotic Stab AA there is no backstab MULTIPLIER when backstabbing from the front. BUT when you DO get Chaotic Stab, then you will gain the MULTIPLIER when backstabbing from the front of the mob, though it will only do minimum MULTIPLIER damage (which should still be higher than the damage of a regular attack).

i.e. If you have not obtained Chaotic stab aa, then pressing backstab from the front WILL do damage, but only as much as a regular, non-backstab, weapon swing. AFTER you obtain Chaotic Stab pressing backstab from the front will do more damage than a regular weapon swing, but pretty much always less damage than if you were pressing backstab from the back.

Regardless of how backstab is SUPPOSED to work in the first place... i am still seeing max backstab damage from the front at 51 w/o chaotic stab ><.

Anyone ever seen a Quad backstab? I have done it on 2 seperate occassions and i have a screenshot of the second to prove it. I am just curious if it is a glitch in game or what it is.

I play a 65 Epic 1.0 (nearly got 1.5) Rogue on AB server.

I havent seen a Quad BS, but i regularly do 32k blows from Assasinates with Backstab and also with Throwing (so long as you throw from behind the mob), i also do 32k with Finishing blow and if you Crit any of them then it doubles to a 64k hp death blow.............its fun to throw a summoned dagger with 3 or 4 damage at a mob and drop it like a stone with 64k hp Assasinate, though it could be anoying if that was the only mob you needed to pull for a specific drop hehe

You should get double backstabs (chance to double) at level 55. I get crits only when using Sneak Attack or Thieve's Vengence.
RE: Quad backstab
# Jul 27 2005 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default
I believe this may have occurred when you were fighting two mobs at once and one shielded the other when you performed a double backstab. I'm not sure however as I don't have a rogue but I do believe triple backstabs are possible.

EDIT: Confirmed with a look at the AA list that triple backstab is very possible. I'd assume most likely that a mob got shielded and that's why you quad backstabbed. Unless you're very heavily AA'd in which case it could have been a true quad.

Charisma - is it important?
# Sep 15 2003 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
This may be a silly question (and, to be honest, I think I already know the answer), but does Charisma have any relevance at all to your chances of getting a successful Backstab. The reason I ask is I recently bought a new piece of armour for my level 25 Rogue. It increased my Strength, Stamina and Armour Class but reduced by Charisma by a few points. Before I bought it, when I hit Backstab I would get a hit 80% of the time but now, with my new armour, my success rate with Backstab is only about 40% and I'm still attacking the same sort of monsters.

Unless you're an enchanter/sk charisma has ONE significant use.... * BUYING A HORSE *. that's about it these days.
You're a rogue so...no not really, dont' worry about charisma on your default combat gear. A lot of people I know have a suite of cha geat for when the occasion comes.

But of course there is not such thing as too much of any stat, (-SK) but don't make it any sort of priority.

I know no one else that has BS for more than I have so was kinda curious. ( Not Including Assassinate)

although you do not get backstab. our guild has recently started putting mt in front of mob and all others behind (including me, the rogue) We seem to be getting better dps than putting all in front except the backstabbing little guy. bummer is, that i spent a LOT of time with my warrior remembering to stand in FRONT of the mob and away from rogues so that he could do his thing. now i'm the rogue and all melee but one is beside me.

Backstab classes are Rogue and.... Well Rogue.

Its a class specific ability. Nobody but rogues can do it. Besides, your warrior wants the mob to be hitting him, not turned away.

P.S. oh yeah and it was on a yellow-conning mob :)

Yes, it's true. Though my main is a Monk, one of my best friends is a Rogue. At level 60, they get an innate ability to do 32000 or 32,000 or 32k damage (however you want to type it) With a Backstab or THROWING WEAPON (She's done it MANY times) to mobs under level 48 (I think... it MIGHT be 45) and it DOES leave a corpse. It's actually pretty cool to see

What about a weapon determines how much BS you do with that weapon?

Ok, well clearly *some* things are obvious, but I mean what factors are contained within the weapon itself? Is it simply its damage rating? Or do some weapons just BS better than others with the same damage rating?

Thanks. :)

Damage first, in the weapon's damage rating. Then your ATK (STR included), and backstab skill rating.

A 15 Damage weapon will backstab significantly higher than even a 13 Damage weapon, and ATK has a direct effect on your maximum. Backstab skill influences the damage across the board and also, don't quote me on this, how much you hit with your backstabs.

Rogue Assassination is an innate skill that we get at level 60. You do 32000 damage to mobs UNDER level 45 or 48, I forget actually. It is addended to a Backstab, so must be done from behind. Yes, it's for real.
