Jewelry Making

The Jeweler can make magical rings, bracelets and necklaces that add to the player's abilities and stats.

What is the best way to develop and use the jewelry making skill? Which recipes are the best and the worst ones? Can you make a profit from making jewelry, and if so how? What class is best suited to this skill?

Post your strategies on how to best use and develop the jewelry making skill, and read, rate and comment on those posted by others.

# Combines to get to 300

I decided to keep track. To get from 182 to 300, using a no-fail potion, I had to attempt 2231 combines, of which 309 succeeded and 1922 failed.

Success rate of about 13%.

This was using recipes with trivials from 351 to 428, gem combinations using Miragestone, Alaris Gemstone, Harmonagate, Energized Gemstone and Uncut Rubellite. These gems sell for AT LEAST 50pp each on my server (sometimes as much as 200-300pp) so without the potion this process would have consumed something like 110kpp to over half a million pp, depending on acquisition costs for the gems. Minus what could be obtained for the 309 items made successfully, of course.

FYI, 1-182 is relatively easily and cheaply done, following guides here and on EQTraders.

I am having the same problem. I can no longer make any enchanted stuff. I read the newest jewelery guide I could find which mentions a particular set of tools in a ring, fine chisels, but so far can't locate anything except a solo setting tool and a square cut thingy.

Where can I go for more infomation????
Can no longer make enchanted jewelery
# Jun 07 2008 at 6:31 AM Rating: Decent
To make the other tools, put a Round Cut tool in your JC bag and combine. this will make the next type tool. Keep combining to make the next type and so on. There are about 7 different cutting tools; Round, Square, Oval, Half-Moon, Trillion, Marquise, and Pear. There may be more, I haven't had the need yet to go there.

As to the ablilty to make JC low level items. I'l start researching and find out.

the highest you can get any raw tradeskill is 300. once it's at 300 it is maxed and you cannot get any more skill ups, you can however get it above 300 with skill mod items, like a geerlok gem setter or an Expert Jeweler Trophy

Free JC to Skill Level 54
# Oct 20 2006 at 8:46 AM Rating: Decent
I got lucky enough to find this link https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2878 and get my jewel crafting skill level up to 54 for free AND be able to process GoD jewelry components. IE nihilite. It's in the abysmal sea and everything you need is there, banker, jewelry merchant for the jeweler's kit, and general supplies merchant for the food and water because you're gonna be there about an hour doing the combines. Well worth the time. Good luck and may whatever God you believe in bless you!!

Hi, I am a master jeweler (300) on Maelin. I looked at the sony station and saw there were some folks (4-5?) listed above 300 (across all servers) for JC. Is 300 a flat cap? (yes I have my GM Jeweler's eyepiece and my geerlok).
My other question is on titles. Once, I saw someone with a title of Grandmaster -tradeskill I thought. Perhaps I was mistaken. So, is there anyway to go beyond 300 and is there anyway to get a title for doing so?

I have an enchanter who's JC skill is now at 300(315 with trophy). I used a lot of blue diamonds and velium, and blue diamonds and palladium(scale ore and Gnomish heat in a reinforced jewelers kit) to get there. I used so many Blue diamonds in fact that i single handedly drove up the price of blue diamonds on the Povar server! By the way my enchanter is only lvel 19,I didn't bother doing the enchanted metals, so you can get to 300 at a low level, it just takes time and plat.

Turquoise Bracelet: 22

Hello all JC's out there!!
I am currently a lvl 4 chanter, with my JC skills at 140. My problem is that I am such a novice at tradeskills, that I have just had some Electrum Bars enchanted so I can produce some stat jewellry, but I have no recipes for the magical stuff in my bag, I have a list of combine recipes, but when I try to use the enchanted stuff (ie. the enchanted Jade electrum bracelet), the electrum bar is highlighted with red and I cannot use.:( What do I need to do to be able to use? do I have to find recipes? Please Help !!
RE: Please Help a novice JC
# Nov 30 2004 at 12:29 PM Rating: Excellent
Greetings,

The tradeskill UI is a fickle beast - some recipes will automatically appear when you advance your skill, but some have to be learned. I think all enchanted jewellery falls into this category.

Click on the 'Experiment' button in the UI - you'll just get the bare kit appearing, with a 'combine' button at the bottom. Drop one electrum bar and one piece of jade anywhere in the slots and click 'Combine'. Look at the message you get if successful - normally, after your first success you will see a message telling you that the recipe has been added.

Go back to the normal UI and search for the new recipe - it should appear in your list as normal.

Hope this helps!

imbued items
# Oct 18 2004 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
I have 185 jc. Basically stopped making jc for a time to work on lvling and aa points. But will go back to it as soon as aa points are up to par. I find that imbued items are great on stats. But as a rule sell very poorly, as they can only be used by a player of a specific deity. (For instance M/Marr's), And people don't purchase items that way. At least on 7th Hammer. I've got stuff that just will not sell. Even with killer stats.

Is Jewelry Skill still worth pursuing, monetarily I mean.
# Jul 21 2003 at 4:53 PM Rating: Decent
Let me ask you this; is it still worth pursuing my jewelry skill? My skill is at one hundred something. I can take a few thousand plat and bring it up further, but is it worth it? With the bazaar and other competitive pricing, can you make a good profit at higher levels?

Thanks,

Well I have a chanter 65th with max JC and some aa in JC fizzle rate reduction. depending on your server the PoP jewellry can sell quite well. On VS 5k for a val ring is very normal. You can even make a profit on buying the components from the bazaar rather than getting them yourself. When I leveled from 150 to 250 I noticed I actually gained pp by selling to merchants. I had max cha and int and dex (280) at the time, so my fail rate was very low and chose items that actually gave profit and cost little to buy. Its an easy skill to get to GM as a chanter anyway. I did most of my work in odus as anerudite and used collaborate in Thurg when I needed other supplies. Not sure i needed too but hey mana is free. Hope this helps a little

I have a lev. 38 enchanter that has 60 exp. points I haven't used. I want to start making jewelry and am wondering if I should dump all those points into that skill and start from there or should I build my skill up and use those 60 points after I get my skill built up a bit.

# Jul 15 2003 at 11:35 AM Rating: Good
Greetings again,

What happened to the 'edit' button when they changed the msg board look? (Ah - there it is waaayy over to the right!)

Anyway - just realised - you need to use any training points you want to put into any tradeskill before it passes a level of 20. Once at 21, you won't be able to add any more skill by allocating unused training points. Best idea is to whack 21 in to start with, then go from there.

Hope this helps.

Greetings,

I personally put the maximum possible training points in to start with (21), then followed the advice at http://www.eqtraders.com/learn/learn_jewlcraft.htm

The step by step and Tal Kor guides there are particularly useful for starting out.

Hope this helps.

Question about PoP Jewelry
# Mar 07 2003 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
Hey everyone.

I've got an enchanter on Xegony w/ 250 skill in jewelcrafting. I quit playing him for awhile because I had done almost everything I could do from a jewelry standpoint.

Well, Pop and LoY has caused me to return (ooops, there goes another girlfriend....)

My question is simple. I've seen the INCREDIBLE stats on the PoP jewelry and obviously I'm interested in playing around with it. But I'm curious... since I had never heard of most of the components involved, I'm was wondering what the total cost is to make some of these things. Anyone know? Or can anyone provide a URL that might explain things better for me?

Thanks so much.

PoP jewelcraft is a major pain in the ***** Just getting the components to do a single combine is a huge undertaking in and of itself. The components are scattered across every zone and most of them are dropped of off harder to get to mobs in very little used areas. If you do happen to find a piece in the bazaar, the seller knows what it's for, and knows it's a pain to get. You're going to be paying through the nose for the harder to get pieces. Personally I've been trying to find an ivory skull on TarrewMarr for 2 months. Good luck on your quest for components should you decide you really want to work at it again.
