With the 2nd half of the Rain of Fear expansion out now, changes were made to the Piercing skill. It is now split into 1H Piercing, and 2H Piercing. Your current skill is applied equally to both new skills. My warrior was 304 in Piercing when he hit 69, and when I worked to max my skill, I noticed the duality at 304 in each new skill.

i have a beastlord with dual weild. and she is maxing out skills but but causing as much damage as my friends who are smaller ( half elfs, dwarfs, humans, etc. most of them have found weapons that are hitting for 20 and 30 pts per hit. i have searched dilagently in the bazar and have found a spear and a pick that both hit for better than 20's when hitting well. but i cannot find faster weapons that will match these hits!
is my stratigy of sticking to piercing weapons going to be my downfall?? should i regress to 1hs and the measly 38 skill in it ??
any help appreciated! drpepper@charter.net

honestly i believe u should use hand to hand or possibly a couple blunt weapons beastlords aren't known for using piercers because they're a hibrid between monk(which normally would hand to hand) and shamans which are casters. SO IN THIS CASE I SAY U SHOULD GO WITH HAND TO HAND AND LEAVE THE PIERCING UP TO THE ROGUES.

I know this was 6 years ago, but if you ever come back, I just want you to know that this statement was ignorant and wrong.

for low levels, it's pretty good. plus it dont look like a tiny littly runt-dagger. found in dulak (get a friend/go bazaaring), with 7dmg/26delay.14-20 dmg per hit with 50+ skill.

What is the difference between "Pierce" and "1h Blunt"? Is piercing more effective than 1h Blunt?

The major difference is when it comes to Rogues--they can only Backstab with piercing weapons. Other than that, it depends on which skill you've trained and what weapon you want to use. The dmg/delay are what makes a weapon more effective, not which skill it uses (of course if you have a 0 in 1HB and 200 in piercing, it's probably best to use piercing, for example).

ok this is something ive been curious about since i joined everquest. the difference between 1hs and 2hs. or any of the 1h skills vs. 2h skills. now obviously u will do more base damage with a 2h weapon. but if u have a char like mine (iksar sk) who bashes and a weapon that swings fast (lower ratio) which would do more DOT? and since im an sk should i b worried about more DOT or more immediate damage (under 15-30 seconds?) im gonna post this on the 2h skills pages too.

When you are tanking, it's probably best to use 1HS & a shield with which to bash (so you can interrupt spellcasting and/or stun the target). Plus some sheilds have build-in anger procs, like Furious Bash II for example. When you are DPS, a 2HS is probably best to use. Plus the longer delay will allow you to cast a spell between swings without losing any melee dmg time.

ok well basically 2h wepons are going to do more damage than a 1h wep. and to answer your question about you ikky sk you probalbly should use a 2h because you are a sk and get double attack...not duel weild. also because you are an sk you should wory about DOT than DPS

He means mobs (game designer acronym for monsters) that are higher level than you which would kill you real quick normaly except a higher level grp or player has them engaged. Your skill will go up quicker against tougher mobs, this is a way to up skills faster, especially if you are lagging in skills because you rose too quick in level due to getting addicted to MG Ageo before the nerf.

i.e. The wee lvl 18 rouge nicely asks the level 55 pally camping the ice giant if he can practice his backstab and piercing on the level 40 Ice Giant. Once the foolish pally has been corrected on fact that level 18 rogues can't succesfully pickpocket level 40 mobs (we only wish we could), much skill raising was done by hitting (mostly missing) the Ice giant with small damage hits and backstabs, after the pally started whacky it around.

PS - Attempting the same thing when kind level 55 druid is kiteing an Ice Giant, sadly, leads to very quick demise. (another reason to ask permission first) Melee skills should only be practiced this way when a meleer is engaging a mob. When a caster(s) are the only ones engaging, practice your throwing and archery skills only, and get a sow first in case druid fizzles at wrong time as, alas, they do not have as many hit points as one would think once an Ice Gaint starts stomping on one and the Ice Gaint will remember your annoying litte 5-10 hp throws.

Is there a better way to train for this other than putting practice points into it?

Find a group, equip 2 fast piercers, and hit their mobs. Make sure they don't mind - you'll probably only do a little damage anyway. Your skill will go up very quickly. I did this with 1hs in Lake of Ill Omen, attacking other groups' mobs (with their consent) Maxed my 1hs in about 3 hours (1-150ish skill)

Yes.

Both 1 hand pierce and 2 hand pierce work off the 'piercing' skill. This is different from 1hs vs 2hs, or 1hb vs 2hb.
