Practice in the Healing pool in your Guild Hall! Buffs won't fade and you'll regen faster.

Easy to get up if you stick your level 9 yalup on a hot key and hit it of in battles, you'll need it when buffing at later stages.

Tobar is right....just take any low level spells and preactice, practice practice.....I usually go to a newbie zone, and practice on mobs or buff newbies.....raises skill levels, make minor coin, and make friends also...it is a wi win win situation! Hope this helps!

Looks like I get first post here! Anyways, I'm a human ranger and was wondering if anyone fizzles spells alot from spells that require this spell? For example, I just got skin like rock buff at lvl 22. I'm lvl 26 now but I fizzle it like 12 to 15 times in a row before either I get to cast it or run out of mana. My Abjur is at 37 right now. I know I need to practise it more but it doesn't go up that often even after all those fizzes :(

Hello, I'm a level 30 Shaman. To answer your question about why you spell fizzes, it is because you need to put some practice training points into Abjur. When I try to cast the Protect Buff and I too have a problem with fizzes, about 5 or 6, before I can get it right. I asked a higher up Shaman the same question today, and his answer was boost the Abjur. skill with practice training points. Once you get to average or better yet above average, the fizzes shouldn't be as bad. Just a suggestion, try casting a lower level Abjur. spell that doesn't cost as much mana as practice. Each time you are successful it will increace your Abjur. skill. I hope this helps.

P S Too bad we can't Master Fizzes Skill, LOL.

Is it just me or do clerics suck at abjuration? My skill is at 112 in abjur and I still fizzle aabout 75% or the time when casting Valor. Let's just say I type "/fizzle off" a lot.

Fizzling has to do with the relation between the spell's level (let's use skin like rock on a druid as an example) and your spell skill's level (let's say your abjuration is at 30.)

You have to look at it in comparison to your max skill to what your skill is. You get the spell when you're level 14, so at this point the highest your abjuration skill can be is 75 (level times five plus five ([L*5]+5).) Your abjuration is currently 30 and you're noticing a lot of fizzles. I'll talk about how to stop that later and just explain why fizzling happens for now.

(Just so you know, I don't know the exact formula for how spell successes roll, this is all from inference but it should be pretty widely accepted by now that it works like this.) If you raise your skill up to 50 you'll immediately notice a difference in the number of fizzles between when your skill was at 30 and when your skill is at 50. That's because it takes the maximum your abjuration can be at (75) and rolls it against your actual skill (30 or 50) and the higher your abjuration skill is against your possible skill is basically your chance to succeed. For the most part. It's not so simple as /rand 0 75 and hoping it comes up lower than 50, but it works very similar to that. If you've got a very low skill, basically, it's got a very low chance of rolling a success.

Anyways, to stop fizzles you can spend practice points at your trainer pumping it up to an acceptable level (usually within 30 points of the spell's expected skill level is good before level 20, afterwards I would train it up to 100 and use spells afterwards) or you can take a low level, low mana cost spell and spam it like crazy on yourself. It doesn't really matter what it is. If you need to work on your evocation then spam your level 1 nuke on yourself. If you need to up your divination then cast true north repeatedly. It will take a while and there's a chance you could use up quite a large chunk of mana, but it's very necessary if you want to save your mana later when you're fizzling that FD because you didn't work your abjuration skill up on that necro of yours.

Hopefully you got the idea now. That's all ya need! Good luck!
