Combine Throwing Knife (dirt cheap, stacks of 100) increases skill against light blue mobs in Ethernere Tainted West Karana, but not in Erillion, City of Bronze.
Timesplitter Throwing Axe does increase skill, but at considerable expense

Sadly, does not work for priest classes.

I have found ammo and carrying units that my priests can carry but nothing that I can put in the ranged slot that will allow me to throw. Warden (46) and Inquisitors (30 & 90)

This is an EQ1 skill forum. You want some forum from EQ2. http://eq2.zam.com/

EDIT: And to answer your question anyways, you need a pouch in ranged for EQ2 then an item like Tin Shuriken in Ammo. See the note on the Tin Shuriken at http://eq2.zam.com/db/item.html?eq2item=7ebfe660ea93ed0b1f83cea1e4d92758

I don't have much to add, but /autofire works great! In combat or for practice.
Missing some basic buttons
# Oct 21 2009 at 12:37 AM Rating: Decent
So i played everquest years ago before there were any expansions to be heard of and now i just got back into the game. I have the edition that has 14 out of 15 expansions and im a little confused by things. I remember there used to be a menu that had sit/stand, lay hands/whatever the SK one is or whatever and several others. I do not have this on my screen anymore. Also, i have tried everywhich way to set a hotbutton to throw a dagger or just throw a weapon at all. I have it equpped in my range ammo slot (throwing daggers) and it is compatable with my class (obviously) but i have yet to figure out how to throw one. Also, somehow i made my stats (health, stamina, mana) at the top of the screen dissappear and cant seem to get them back. Can anyone help a kinda noob with these problems? Any help greatly appreciated....

Ctrl+M Combat tab, has Ranged attack button already there. You can make your own continuous ranged firing hot button now to, with the command /autofire.

Depends...for example, a rogue gets throwing crits like a ranger gets bow crits. My wife's rogue can summon her own daggers (now in stacks of 100) and stand back with a skill of 261 and peg during a range fight without feeling useless. When melee won't work, throwing can be a viable alternative to archery.

I agree throwing is not useless. Modern alchemists can make suspensions that are thrown. Suspensions vary in strength of effect and in range. One very useful suspension is Slime which procs a snare effect when it lands. Very useful for classes who don't have snare and want to hunt in dungeons or other highly social areas.

How do you learn this skill? How do you throw? No hot button =/

Put a throwing weapon in your range slot, in your inventory. Go to your combat hotkeys and make a Range one. Select a monster and press the hotkey. Loot monster. Sell loot.

Shik'Nar Barbs from the Paludal Caverns on Luclin drop in big numbers from the Shik'Nar Outcasts. They are Damage 5/Delay 32 RANGE slot items, with a Throwing range of 60. Not too bad, I'd say. Stackable too.

There is an Iksar by the name of Ssolet Dnaas in Warslilks Woods, he is at around pos4000 pos400. He is lvl 50 and perma rooted. He makes excellent target practice for players who have been lacking in the Throwing area. Took me 15 backpacks of shurikens to get from zero to cap. Just don't let the GM's catch you doing this...

Yes. BL's can learn throwing. Honestly, its a nearly useless skill. Its good for pulling but the range is so bad on store bought throwing weapons you are nearly in aggro range by the time you are close enough to throw. Player forged weapons (especially javelins) are much better range but more expensive, too.
