Alright, let's do this; I'm a rogue; I'm in battle; I back up and turn off auto attack and press hide. What happens exactly? I "duck out of combat" but do I lose hate or do I completely lose aggro (I know this is not the case but perhaps if somebody else has aggro). So what happens?

Well, have been "clicking" on hide for hours on end, the skill is at 50, and has not got any higher, does anyone know if the skill caps at 50 for LEVEL 24 druid

Uvana...level 24 druid
Leadanie..level 42 druid

Your Druids Hide Will be a racial benefit and therefore your hide will always be fifty.
Vah Shir hafe safe fall to level fifty and that works the same way. As does the Forage ability for Wood elves.
moving hide???

Just started a rogue, I've heard of rogues using sneak/hide together. Is it just a level thing or does hide not work once you move? My halfling warrior is level 60 and only uses sneak to sell to otherwise nasty vendors. it is capped as a racial trait at 50 and minimal help.

yup, Creowatha has got it right. The only thing I would like to add is that, even though Creo is right in saying that it works fine weither or not you do sneak first or hide first, I would suggest you do hide first. Especially if you are a low level rogue and run the chance of one or the other failling on you. If you Hide first and get it successfull, then you have all the time in the world to try for sneak and wait until you succeed in it.
Once you get high enough in your skills, however, that's a pretty moot suggestions since hide and sneak rarely fail after your about "Very Good" in your skill level. Or atleast I've found it so.

Rogues do use sneak and hide together to move 'invisibly'... in fact better than invisibly in many cases. If you 'hide' without sneaking also, once you move you are unhidden. The order in which you hit sneak and hide are unimportant, except for when you are levitating in some manner. In that case you have to 'sneak' before 'hide' in order for hide to work. You can 'sneak' on the move, but must be still to start to 'hide'.

Many mobs will never see thru hide. Very very few mobs will notice you sneaking when you are behind them. Mobs that see invisible will usually have a 'chance' to see through sneak/hide. This chance is affected by difference in level between you and the mob, and also your skill rating, if not maxed once you get over level 39 or so (as a rogue).

This becomes more and more of a factor in higher levels. For the most part at lower levels something will either see you or not, and it will be consistent. Still, /con mobs to be safe. I know that some mobs that saw through my rogue's sneak/hide at level 50, don't now see through it when he's level 59. Also, some types of mobs can spawn able to see through sneak/hide, but do not always do so. Goos in City of Mist are one example.

Sneak/hide also renders you invisible to undead in most cases. /Con is your friend to find out when it doesnt.

You cannot start to sneak and hide underwater, but you can continue to sneak/hide from dry land into the water. Hurts in places like Kedge Keep.
pick pocket

Nobody seems to have posted anyone to pick pocket from, so . . . There is a binder that stands on a porch in EFP that never has problems with you picking his pockets. He never attacks. I got level max in no time there.

Skill Cap
# Sep 06 2002 at 11:27 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, what I would like to know is, what is the cap for Hide for an Ogre SK? I started out with the skill at level 35, and have worked on it till it got to 75. Now it doesn't seem to wanna go any further. Have I simply reached my max or what? How can I find out my skill limits? Thanks

For Shadowknights anyway. According to Casters Realm - Shadowknight Skill Information, we get the skill at level 35, and it is capped at 75. So, the bottom line is that you are at the cap and you can rest that Hide button finger for times when you really need to Hide. Smiley: smile

Were you clicking the hide button for 30 mins, or did you click it, and just sit there with hide "on" for 30 mins.? It can only go up if you keep clicking the button, rather than being hidden. The same goes for tracking. It only goes up when the button is clicked, and not from just having the window open.

Depends on why you have hide. If it is a race ability, it wont go up (like Val Shir safe fall). If your class gets it, then it will go up.

Fallstarchade had it right. You have Hide only because it is a Dark Elf racial ability. The Necromancer class does not get Hide at all, so 50 is the limit for a Dark Elf Necromancer and no amount of mashing that Hide hotkey will help. Similarly, my Iksar Necromancer got the Forage skill as a racial ability at level 1, also capped at 50.

How exactly does hide work? Who can see through it? What is the effect of increasing the skill level?

You hit hide. If you arent a rogue, you dont get any more messages. Hope you are hidden lol. Rogues get a message telling them if they hid or not. If you arent a rogue, just con a mob or non-indifferent guard. It failed if he still isnt indifferent. Click it again to unhide, then wait til it repops and try again. Unlike invis, hide works on undead- that is all undead and mobs not able to see through invis. I know for a fact that hide works on the giants in FM, but invis doesnt.

I got a simple question for you guys out there! When you max hide out, will you then be able to stay hidden while you steal?
RE: Max Hide
# Apr 02 2002 at 4:37 PM Rating: Decent
Nope, sorry. If you are hiding, clicking on Pickpocket is like enabling Auto-Attack. It automatically turns off hide, even if you have Hide Maxed out. But I have another question:
If you are hidden, does the spell, "See Invisible" work against you?
