I have seen a "Potion" or "Drink" on other web sites which has the effect of "Clarity", however, it is (according to them) an item which is ONLY dropped by some new beast in the Velious expansion lands. I have not heard of a "player made" potion with this effect.

The item i believe you are talking about is called "Clarifying Spores", if I'm not mistaken. They have the effect of Clarity. Not sure what creature they drop off, however.

No mana regain potions for shaman :( *Sigh* The official chant on it is they want to leave the clerity in the hands of the enchanters :P My thought is why not put that 'chanter spell Thicken mana, and its advancements to some good use and make it a component of a Clerity Potion? It would make all the players happy and still leave the clerity in the enchanter's control. Still I doubt we'll ever see one made.

On the other hand the goblin drunkard in SolA drops a potion with the Aura of Mar effect, which is a heal, regen and clerity all in one. Perhaps it was this or a similar potion you saw for sale?

Anybody hear anything on that rumored new potion that allows the drinker to regenerate?

I don't know if this was a hoax or not...

It'd be nice if it's true.

Check Eqshaman.com/ They have a complete list of alchemy recipies, including one or two regeneration potions. If I remember correctly, the components were kind of costly and the required skill is 50ish.

can you miox the colors by like using a red resin and a blue resin to make a dye? or no
RE: Dyes
# Nov 08 2000 at 6:20 PM Rating: Excellent
Resins are what are used with extracts to make workable dyes. You can't mix two different color extracts to make a unique dye color. For example, you *cannot* mix blue and yellow to get green, you have to get green dye from evergreen leaves and not by mixing other color dyes.

You can wear a suit of armor that has different color types in it though (of course it won't look as good).

I hope that answered your question, whatever it was :)

Hints about alchemy
# Sep 01 2000 at 5:53 AM Rating: Excellent
I hope the following will help young shamen to improve their mastery of alchemy, our exclusive science that can be very useful in many situations.

First of all, you have to raise your skill to a decent level.
The skill caps at (level-24)*5, and it s better to raise it as soon as possible cause you might need those potions. Shrink potions are for exemple a way to enter the hole without a rogue.

So how to raise that skill?
You will need 3 things every time you want to raise your alchemy skill: wisdom, charisma, money.
When you make a potion, the test done to see if you will gain a point in skill is on your highest stat between intelligence and wisdom. So you will improve faster with 205 wisdom and 60 intelligence that with 150 in each of them.
Take your wisdom equipment, cast a charisma buff on you (100 charisma is enough to have the best prices when indifferent to the vendor), grab money and go to your shaman guild.
The most important thing after this is to choose which potions you will make.
This is when you have to check a trivial list on the net. There's a nice one on the shaman's crucible.
Be sure to always make the potion whose trivial cap is nearest to your current skill. That way you will succesfully make a potion moreoften. Most potions arent of any real use, or at least they are very hard to sell.
Only potions I advise you to keep when you re raising skill are sow potions, shrink potions, invis vs undead potions, and damage shield potions.
Sow potions will be your favorite for a long time since it costs 5.6 pp and can be sold at 15pp sometimes, 10pp nowadays. shrink potions and invis vs undeads can be sold for a nice price in lower guk, but you may want to keep them for yourself. If you're not an iksar you will have trouble in many zones to enter those tiny buildings, and shrink potions work everywhere, unlike the spell. Invis vs undeads is also very useful when you travel without a caster who has it.
Damage shield potions are rather to be kept for special occasions like raids, duels or soloing big things. above 50 they do 13 dmg per hit and stack with all other damage shields in the game.
All other potions you will make until you ve reached 150 in skill are not commercial. (maybe levitate potion is?) You will have to sell them back to vendor for some pp, far less than what they cost of course, but you wont be able to keep them all anyway.
A problem you might encounter is to get the proper reagents. Each shaman guild has only half of the reagents. This means if you want to make sow potions, you will have to go to firiona or halas for exemple, but if you want to make invis vs undeads you have to go in cabilis or oggok... Shrink potions need you to get reagents from cabilis and firiona. You might want to create an alternate iksar or an alternate barbarian depending on your race to get the reagents for you.

A little hint to make potions really fast. put your medicine bag in the last slot of your inventory. Put another empty bag in the slot just above. Buy the reagens you need (if it s for sale purpose always buy a bit more of the reagent than you need in case of failure), put them in the empty bag in a row. Open that bag and the medicine bag. drag each bag window near your character window, side by side. hit ctrl, click on one reagent, put in medicine bag, click on second reagent, put in medicine bag, and so on, until u have put all required reagents in bag. combine, and if succesful click on your character window to deposit the potion in first empty slot in your inventory. do this again until you have made all the potions you want.

Until 70, your skill will raise easily, you will lose some money but not that much. From 70 to 90 it will take money and time, but not too long.
However, between 90 and 140, I had to spent 6000 pp, and none of the potions I could make were commercial. they all cost around 18 pp to make, and sells for 4pp at vendors...
At 140 I can at last make gate potions with a decent ratio, and I can still raise skill using those 18 pp potions until 157. After 157 I only see gate potions as a way to raise skill, and those cost 180 pp each :-)
Remember alchemy is a unique skill and I think later it will have a use in more quests. Currently the only quest I know that requires alchemy skill is the cannibalize2 quest. However Verant has begun adding new potions, new purposes for alchemy (such as the dyes for armors), and special potions that need to retrieve various components in Kunark.
To conclude I'll post here a recipe in lizard language I found in the sarnak fortress in lake of ill omen when I was hunting there. This potion is called Xinth and I never found out its use on the net, nor could I get all components.
Here is the recipe:
Firiona drixie dust+stoneleer emerald plume+slate chant rock to make dristillate
sarnak nightdust+gorge moss+sponge mushroom to make opal slush
dristillate+opal slush to make Xinth
I think this potion is for some quest, or it must be a really efficient potion for the time spent ;-)
I d be really happy if anyone could found all components and find out what the potion does, or what quest it s for.

Okay, I'll bite, where are the components to make these new dyes and the enamel needed to color the new smithable plate armor? I've been from Halas to Grobb and found nothing.
RE: Dye???

RE: Dye???
# Sep 06 2000 at 1:18 AM Rating: Decent
Aye, the dye materials and books are only on the test server at this time. But judging from the names of the materials you need to make the dyes, they will be dropped in dungeons unlike our normal potions which everything is sold by merchants. Also, Dyes can be made with rogue poison I believe(on test).
RE: Dye???
# Nov 29 2000 at 9:48 PM Rating: Default
ok they are not on test sever, they can only be gotten in certain places. High hold keep is one of them, ( that is for books and marerials) the main die component is droped off mobs or found on the ground.
question

Dear All
can anyone please tell me what is the meaning of
trivial level??
thanks,

re: question
# Sep 01 2000 at 4:55 AM Rating: Decent
A potion becomes "trivial" when you can't raise your skill anymore by making it.
The trivial level is the level when your skill cap is above the trivial cap of the potion.
Your skill cap is (level-24)*5
A sow potion for exemple becomes trivial when your skill is 37. Therefore its "trivial level" is level 32, when your skill cap is 40.
To raise up the skill without wasting too much money you have to make potions that have a trivial level close to your level, else you will fail many of them.
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 30 2000 at 12:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Elchemy , is a very costly skill to master my opion is that do not do this skill for proffit makeing, you will spend more than you make, but it is quite interesting skill so i say to all of you do it for intrest and get ready to spend alot of money, like a gate spell will cost you roughly about 200pp to make on potion and if you have a fizzle you are out 200pp like !!! NOW !!!! no geting it back , and then how much do you think some one will pay for a gate potion, but if insist on doing this make sure you sell at a price that makes you money sell sow potions for 15pp each. you stil might not make a big proffit but you will cut your loss, and make sure your INT is over 100 and your cham is over a 100 and wisdom this will help in the amout of loss ratio
RE: rumlore
# Sep 06 2000 at 1:22 AM Rating: Decent
Actually...

You should try and raise wisdom highest as you can for that is one of our root stats so it will be higher then intelligence and according to Verant skill increases/successes depend on EITHER intelligence or wisdom depending on which is higher.

Only when buying components do you need a high cha, and buffing it up to 105 is enough. Past 105 does not result in price decreases.
RE: rumlore
# Sep 19 2000 at 3:02 AM Rating: Default
I can only disagree to one point of this post.
Charisma will decrease prices over 105. My charisma ranges from 115 to 140 with buffs and jewelry and changes prices by about 5%.
thanks.

I read about that so I asked enchanters I know. I was told there s a maximum charisma after which you wont get any lower price, but this charisma depends on your faction. So even if you re apprehensive with high charisma you can get best prices.
In Firiona Vie im still indifferent and prices at 157 charisma are the same as at 105.
Well I hope that will be useful to everyone who wants to get lowest prices. I dont think any other factor modidy prices, but tell me if im wrong.
