When I first started I saw someone with levitate on them and I had heard that you could meditate so I thought that is what this guy was doin with the flashes of light comin out of him. Boy was I dissapointed when I learned you just sit lol. I have to admit though it cuts my down time at least in half.

Are there any Mana Regen items say a Half Elf Ranger could use?? I manage my Mana pretty good as it is but if I could get an item to save some med time, even better!

Thanks, got the Earring of the Solistice. Nice little item and not to bad of a quest for ALL none the less.

You need Flowing Thought items. The Earring of the Solistice is probably the most common, though it will cost you something around 6000pp to buy the items for the quest to get it, unless you want to MAKE them yourself.

Flowing Thought items are very valuable and won't come cheap, though.

It is amusing sometimes to go back here and see how dated some of the comments are now. So many things have changed in the last couple of years. A lot of the advice you read is still valid, but I guess it helps to know that a lot has evolved in this game over time.

No wonder some returning players from two or three years ago are initially confused when they get back into the game. On the other hand, I think most of them are generally pleased with most of the changes.

Well, old player or new, good luck to you.

I don't know about other classes, but Necromancers get med. at level 4, and don't need the book to do it either.

If you drink the Occasional short snort while NOT doing anything else, but just like at the bank or vendor, then your overall abilities will rise & stay higher. Just like RL. No proofs available, just a hint to me from some 1 who worked at Verant at the time (fall 2001).
She didn't give out whether overall would improve most if you drank in groups or alone.
Really?

Is this true or are you just poking fun at a newbie?

Although probably common knowledge, I'm new, so I'll ask anyway. Can you meditate without the spellbook in your face at Level 35? I just don't wanna get my hopes up if some mage made me the butt of a joke.

Oh, YES, indeed! That confounded book really does go away once you reach level 35. At that point, you meditate just by sitting down, but still have access to your spellbook using the /b or by clicking the spellbook. What a wonderfully liberating milestone for our caster characters this is, too.

Now, does level 35 mean when your character reaches level 35 or when your meditation skill reaches level 35. Please let me know. -Thanks

Actually if you do it right, your mana reaches full at the same time as the last effects of the alcohol where off. But this only saves a few seconds and more often you drink too much and are therefore short mana for the battle. It is a valid technique, just difficult to master.

I don't know if this still works or not, but when my shammy was young (long, long ago!) an ancient wizard (L49 back when 50 was king) told me to take a drink of any alcoholic drink before sitting down to meditate. Drinking before medding would speed up up the mana regeneration process-- kinda like a poor man's clarity. It *did* hurry up the mana bar filling up, but I never really got a feel for whether it was a graphics thing or if it actually sped up getting mana.

The trick was to drink just enough to keep you sober when you stood up so your casting would not be interupted from weaving around.

Try it. See if it still works. I don't hear too many people talking about this technique anymore, but I always thought it was a kind of "institutional knowledge"...
...if it still works it could be pretty handy for those of you who don't know any Enchanters.

Your mana regen goes faster because your intelligence or wisdom decreases. And if youre about level 50 60 you get 10mana per 1 int or wis so if you lose like 20int before you go completely drunk and start swinging around youve basically lost 200mana. This means you have 200mana less to fill up while medding, and therefore you get mana faster as you have less of it. Simply stupid therefore as mana = life or death in caster classes and 200mana could mean 2 more mezzes or a heal or two more.
