Begging
Begging is the ability to get small coins from various NPC's. It is a very dangerous skill, since many prefer to kill the begger rather than give him anything.
What is the best way to use this skill? How and where can you improve your begging skill? What, if any, use is this skill? What type of money can be made through begging?
Post your strategies on how to best develop and use the begging skill, and read, rate and comment on those posted by others.
I have also learned you can beg from most anything if you can target it, like the little dingy in Toxx Forest that you take to Kerra Island. Its all in where you stand. So far the large boats from Continent to Continent are targettable but I have not found a place to beg. It says I am too far away.

If your charisma is really high, or you have really good faction with an NPC is it more likely that you will get more money from them?

well i have a 35 rogue on veeshan server (halfling) with amiable faction to the fp guards, and 72 charisma, i beg off the guard nere the bank most and i have gotten up to 4p before mostly i get gold or copper, hardly ever get silver thou

I have 200 Begging Skill, I have worked long and hard to get it that way mostly begging charmed animals to raise skill, the most I have gotten is 5 silver, I warn you all, BIG WASTE OF TIME

I am a vicar on TallonZek (55 cleric) who has endured the slow and tedious process of becoming a master begger (skill 200!).
My charisma is 60-75 (depends on my equip) and I have NEVER gotten anything more then a silver-pice. And even this is rare.
I can sucessfully gain cobber-pices from most NPC that con neutral or better, but if you plan to make a living of your begging, you will end up starving.
The NPC's does not attack me any more when I succesfully beg them more then tre times .. they sipley stop giving me anything.
Any mob I have meet, that is red and KoS I have begged. My conclusion is clear: your chance of getting better at begging is equally big on a dragon as it is on a firebeetle.
I have begged them all: bankers, beggers, dervish cutthroats, pets, dragons YouNameIt. Besides from a good laugh, a singe Exp-death (6 guards in Freeport ganged up on me) and a silver-pice in 1/20 succesfull atempts, I have gotten nothing of value.

i'v begged troopers in cab lotsa times and never been killed the only one's i got killed from were those friggin crusaders lol so any iksar thatr want to raise skill begg troopers not crusaders 8)

Here's an interesting fact, in wolf form you are not KoS to Ice Giants. REALLY wanna raise your skills? I have done this from no points to 135, take wolf form and beg while you med. As of late Ice Giants are not camped as much, so I just sit there and beg from them before entering Perma to get Banished by Vox. Seems like a waste of time, but at this level it's really hard to find a place to go and have fun. If you want to get it up there, hit the Ice Giants. Works great.

First off I'd like to hear from someone who has 200 begging skill, and that is cap as far as I have read. I have a 120 beg and as a necro I pratice on my pet. Now I often beg on NPC's as I pass, have only been attacked twice but a fast FD solves that. Most I have received is 3 silver, and alot of 1 or 2 copper. My question is "will there is a chance that Verant will one day make this useful or have it be quest related?" Either way I will be prepared. In the interum it saves me from boredom during med times.

I have 200 skill in Begging, mostly from my pet, and I never get more than a few silver. However, since I've gotten to 200 I've NEVER been attacked.

It is quite simple to develop this skill without facing a risk.
First if u can summon or charm, just beg ur pet instead of other NPCs. Although u won't able to get any coins but it is really a safe way to get its max in each lv.
I am a lv 20 wiz now, i my begging skill is 94. Although i don't have pet, but everytime when I fight, I will beg the mobs when it start to run, attack, stop attack then beg => attack, stop attack then beg... With such a cycle. Certainly I have make beg as a hot key <Q>. So the cycle is go like this > A, A, Q, A, A, Q

Nogrok, an Iksar Necro told me about the begging from the mob you are attacking, so I tried it against Forest Giants in FV. Using the same method described by Siroccos, it worked pretty darned well.
The only reason I decided to work on begging was that I was tired of seeing that "Awful" under Begging when so many of the other skills said "Good", "Excellent", or "Master."

Beg form PC's sometimes it more rewarding, but instead of being attacked and killed you could be harrased and shuned which is somtimes worse. Ofcorse you can't raise your skill on PC's, but if you role play a little (being a bard, a rogue, or a Paladin/Cleric who need a donation for a good cause :P) helps alot when beging form PC's.

If ur lookin' for quick cash, and u've got no skill in begging, begging's not for u! Regardless of what people say, it IS a usefull skill...Though i will admit it is hard and tedious to get up in skill.

The reason the begger in BB cant be hit sometimes is because he is your pet! seriously. if u hail him while he is laying down, he will follow u around and attack things u attack. its awesome but he wont stop till u zone or he dies =p.

I heard that if your begging skill is lvl 300, you get 10pp each time you beg. Is this true?

if i were u, i would only beg from an npc 1,2,or 3 times at most. if u do it more, they will probably atack u. if u r a higher lvl then the npc u can probably do it much, much more and maybe be more successful.

I agree with you it will probably attack you I would stick with NPCs that are lower lvl I beg the Ice goblin Scouts they will not survive if they attack me 8)

Guys, how much money you get from it depends upon WHO YOU BEG! For instance, I've gotten silver/gold from begging dervish cutthroats, (level 132 in begging), while begging Puntar Sandfisher only gets me 1cp per beg. I imagine that some NPC's with higher loot give better stuff to the person begging.

If you have a pet beg from your pet. You get your skill up, and you won't get killed. Then if you want money beg from something else. And you will never get any money from your pet.

The best way to increase your begging that I have seen is to be a monk or a necro. Simply pick a low level NPC and beg until he aggroes, feign death and start all over again. You never die and all you see is your skill increases!

You need to find the lowest leval thing in the zone beg it when it is agro kill it and find somthing else.
