How do I get that knowledge?? Or is this just a total waste of time. My tinkering is currently 55/300, and what I have made is a triv of 16. also those recipes show up on the recipes but there is a (refined) after the name.

Aolene,
You need to do one of the tradeskill specific quests to refine this yourself.
See this page to read up on it.
You will need to talk to Skelontorim Orrthemech in Abysmal to do a couple of tasks to gain the ability.

This is probably a huge newb question, so please forgive me if the answer to what I'm about to ask is blindingly obvious. =)

I was looking up various recipes that you can find on this site in my toolbox window, but could not find them. In particular, I tried looking up the recipe for "Gnomish Fireworks", which is documented on this site, but when I did a search for it in my toolbox, the recipe would not be returned. My min and max trivial settings are 0 and 500 respectively, and my Gnome is lvl 11. Would someone please enlighten me as to how to fix this?

Your tool box starts with a basic set of items and recipies. Just like the other skill items, you have to 'Experiment' to add a recipe, make the item correctly, and succeed to have it added into your list.

www.Eqtraders.com has a good list of recipes and items made.

Anyone can tinker. You place the appropriate components in a toolbox, and hit combine. You might get lucky.

Gnomes begin with 50 skill at level 1 and can not improve their skill until level 16.

Non-Gnomes begin with zero skill. So your odds of success are permanently between slim and none.

Here's a fun thing: like poison-making and alchemy, when it comes to raising tradeskills past 200, Tinkering does not count. In other words, you can raise tinkering to 250 and 1 other tradeskill without having to put AA points into it.

the geerlok fermentation devices were probably made by someone practicing (cheapest way to raise your tinkering skill is to make these things). you will probably start finding more and more of them floating around merchants as the recipe becomes public knowledge.

As for reselling them, I wouldn't bother. Most brewers I know aren't too worried about an extra couple of percent on their skill. So far as I am aware brewing isn't al that difficult/expensive to raise (but I could be wrong there too :p)

Katta Castellum is a Luclin zone. From Shadow Haven you can get to it in two (most direct) ways:
Shadow Haven -> Paludal Cavens -> Hollowshade Moor -> Grimling Forest -> Tenebrous Mountains -> Katta Castellum
or
Shadow Haven -> Echo Caverns -> Fungus Grove -> Twilight Sea -> Katta Castellum
The way Fungus Grove -> Twilight Sea is vir a teleport and is in a 50 plus zone so you might want to consider going the longer way (although i have heard that you can run there without anything agroing you in the zone).

Once you are in Katta Castellum you need to make your way down the winding path to the bank. At the bank, the tunnel to the tinkers is behind the bank on the left hand side as you look at the bank.

I found a short list on Caster's Realm under the skills sections. First you need to buy a tool box to combine objects. You can't advance in tinkering until Level 16... But unless there is a specific item you need or want, I would suggest choosing a different tradeskill. Tinkering is by far the MOST expensive skill in the game.

Money can be made out of tinkering. But, like most "big money" making tradeskills, it will cost you to get your skill to a point where you will start to earn.

For tinkering, the starting point is 175, when Rebreathers become trivial. Warriors need 2 rebreathers as a part of their epic quest and will pay substantially for them. A rebreather will cost roughly 950pp to make - and I have heard of them being sold for up to 2.5k.

Please note, you can make money tinkering things before this level *but* by far the most needed/popular/best money-making item until this skill level is the rebreather.

Some geerlok devices also sell for a bit of cash - but they trivial at 215.

The Velious recipes (gnomish armours) trivial at above 215 and could be good money makers if you can find the gnomes who need and are willing to pay for it.

'lo. I was wondering about the catapult, the amunition coudl be firewater, and as I do not have the skill nor money to make one, I can not test this theory. I mean think about it, Fire water has no purpose whatsoever except to help make other tinkerd items. I have seen very few items that do just that, the only question is how would you load it? I would need to see one myself but I am pretty sure that that's what it does, or maybe equip something like such in your 1st hand slot and put catapult in second? I don't know, making wild theory's but you have yet to prove me wrong.

Hope it helps,

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this already, seeing as I don't tinker very much, but it hit me, that Verant has given tinkerers the greatest of all advancements in one of the last patches.
When Verant gave the No-combine ability for bags, it meant that combine containers with the wrong recepies in them, wouldn't combine. For tinkerers, this is a HUGE advancement. Now, if you want to find out what new recepies exist, or the use for a gemcutter is, you don't have to risk loosing your tons of pp just for one try! It's free experimentation!
