I started out at 201 in Alchemy and with 122 attemps I raised my skill to 209 with a total of 109 successes. Sucess rate not too bad but skill-up is awful. 
The Hearty Shissar Blood is found in The Grey. I found over 120 in about in about 4-5 hours farming. Not so hard to get really.

Probably the reason that you never see Spikes VII, VIII, IX or X is that one of the components is typically extremely hard to to get. Look for Hearty Shissar Blood, Robust Shadow Essence, or some of the other ingredients needed to make these and they're rare at best. On Stromm, the blood is non-existent in the Bazaar, the essences run for 90 or 100pp a pop. It's easier to just skillup using other pots and then start making the higher level spikes pots with the drops that seem to be way more common. Someone would have to do a lot of farming to make this anything close to worthwhile.

I just made a Distillate of Skinspikes VII in a standard Medicine bag bought from vendor in PoK using the recipe listed here (1xAcaana, 1xComfrey, 1xDragonwart, 2xFlamewort(unstacked), 1xHearty Shissar Blood, 1xSmooth Potion Vial)
these are never in bazaar so maybe more than just a recipe error

What is up with traders selling this item? currently 10-15k each in Bazaar on the 7th. Do traders actually think shamans will buy these at those prices? Do they relly think people will buy a single Skinspikes VII potions at 10k+ ? 100 lashes to them all, and you know who you are!!!

I try to make this and it keeps telling me my container is the wrong one. Have tried both my medicine bags and neither is working. anyone have any ideas or is there another type I dont know about.
Are you using 2 Flamewort?
