46 plat per attempt isn't bad (FS armor is 50 per I think) -- and you don't have to farm leather padding.

actual cost is around 32p per attempt (based on indifferent faction and 130 charisma):

pattern: ~4p
gold bar: ~10p
large HQ brick: ~18p

each brick produces two rings, so only need one of them
