Unfierd Seal
# Jun 28 2009 at 6:31 AM Rating: Decent
Personally I feel it is just random on the combines. I have my pottery trophy at journeyman skill, along with journeyman skill trophy for jewel craft. I think you can be at any level and randomly miss, (once trivia led) at what you are striving to get. So don't worry it will come. And remember it is just a game. O and I managed to get my mounted gems as follows:

1. Blue diamond: first try
2. Jacinth: first try
3. Diamond: first try
4. Black Sapphire: first try
5. unfired seal: first try
6. fired seal: first try
So I do actually consider myself lucky as far as getting my mounted jems on the first try. Considering the price of the vellium bars lol. I just bought mine.
Failures

Lessee... I have about a 110 skill at pottery, give or take. I have a 250 base Jewellery skill and have the GM Eyeglass. I have failed ONCE at the unfired combine, and that's about it. It's mostly luck at this point, my pottery skill is up high enough to handle it. Even at GM status, I've managed to fail on one of the combines for the mounted jewels. I'm lucky, it was just a blue diamond and I had a spare. Even experts ***** this up occasionally, so don't feel bad if you smoke one along the way.

It's pottery for the final combine, and the combine to make the Unfired Artisan's Seal, but there are a lot of JC steps to get the components for the pottery part. You have to mount several gems and combine the result with a small block of clay just to get the artisan's seal.

jewel craft trivials

I have 183 Jewel craft and I use the Geerlok Gemsetter.. I failed twice in a row... once on the Jacinth and once on the Black Saphire... either the trivials are off of I am just really unluck ... either way I am definitely poor :o)

Of course, it could be bad luck. But make sure you're using TWO bars of velium. I've made the mistake in the past of accidentally only using one bar, which DOES combine (velium jewelry), and trivials over 250. Expensive mistake.
