Mystery solved. Yep, SOE changed it. Grrrrr, I hate them and their constant putzing with the game as much as I hate a mystery. They have a great game but the way they manage it is of absolutely no quality.
The Chain Jointing is NO longer NEEDED to make Night Terror Plate at ALL !!!
So I suspicion the recipe doesnt work for that reason and prolly isnt needed for the Night Terror Chain either. ALSO: these pieces now require TWO Superb Leather Paddings each in lieu of the jointing...so EVERY recipe here is WRONG and needs be updated.
Footnote: I was correct when my psychic powers foretold no help from SOE. Filed a petition, they told me to report a bug. Finally caught up to a GM, an Admin even, and he was ABSOLUTELY no help at all as predicted. I love ya, Allahs...but it was EQTraders that finally solved this mystery. Please update the recipes.

This recipe is either changed or bugged.
I checked this recipe 3x. I tried four different forges in PoK. I had no problem making any of the other Night Terror components. The sheets, the tempers, the emblems, the rings. I checked my ingredients several times, nothing is stacked, theyre all the parts listed here. I tried getting a new Tanaan Smith Hammer and file, thinking if they preceeded a recent patch, they were queering the deal...nothing doing.* It's driving me nutso and I cant expect SoE to help. Pshaw, as if...
I really want to make this armor for my SK and others, but without being able to make the jointing I cannot even make a visor.

* I once had an Erudite sew kit that had been bought prior to a patch that was tradeskill intensive. This patch also wiped out ALL favorites and learned recipes from ALL tradeskill tools. Thanks SOE, good job again, ya! After this patch my Erud Sew Kit would NOT combine Terrorantula Silks into swatches. I had to sell it and buy a new one. That fixed it. Too bad I had to figure it out on my own. SOE wasnt about to tell me.
