Hands down, it has to be a tasty Halfling. With honey on his head. Roasting over an open spit.

My second choice would be a High Elf plucked fresh off my Elf farm, nicely fattened from all the corn I've been feeding him and juicy from the Jum jum wine injected directly into his veins from the IV setup I have. Kinda looks like a Texas death chamber, ready to give 'em the ol'lethal injection. Ahhhhhhhh...

Ok, normally I resist the urge to make a post that placed on every section, but after I read the article describing the new-- yes, NEW! --experience tables I thought a round of applause for Verant was in order.
I recognize I am usually one of the first to jump on the Almighty V for their lack of responsiveness to their paying subscribers, but it appears they have finally got it right, so I am here to eat some crow.

Well done, Verant!

There. That's enough of that. Crow tastes pretty awful, so don't expect a whole lot of that in the future, V.
If you are wondering what it is I am writing about, refer to January 15th opening news on this website. It seems that Verant has revamped the whole experience/grouping thing and is going to implement this in the next patch.

Just thought I'd pass along the good news!

After Misty Thicket?
# Jan 11 2001 at 10:43 PM Rating: Default
Where would be a good place to go for a lvl 11 halfling warrior after Misty Thicket? Should I go to Commonlands or travel to Qeynos to hunt in Blackburrow? Any help would be appreciated.
RE: After Misty Thicket?
# Jan 16 2001 at 8:43 PM Rating: Default
I had the best luck heading down to Northern Ro. At 11, you can group dervs, or solo tarantulas and scarabs all the way to lvl 14.

If you're up for a boat ride, get over to Butcherblock Mountains and hit the chessboard. There's good experience there and my halfling warrior advanced quickly there.
RE: After Misty Thicket?
# Mar 07 2001 at 2:13 PM Rating: Default
Try going to the Oasis of Marr. From 14th to 26th you can hunt or group Caimen, crocs,DW caimen, and DW crocs, not to mention orcs on the orc highway. At around 30-35th lvl,you can group then solo Sand Giants(this will also make you very popular, as the lower lvl chars will appreciate not having to watch out for them),but up to 15 lvls later you should shun Cazel,a superpowerful named sand giant. After you are able to defeat Cazel, have a Wizzy TP you to another plane, though you will need to group. An alternative at 35th level to the Oasis sand giants is Velious, where the loot and exp are insane(you can only go to Velios, however,if you have the Scars of Velious expansion for EQ). Good luck!

Oh by the way, I left a level gap from 27th to 29th.I suggest another zone till 30th,preferably Lake of Ill Omen as there are plenty of monsters about that level that hang around. The loot off of the goblins is really great-the warriors and commanders drop PLAT!!!Also, you can do a quest for "lore item"s dropped off the commanders.

Or you could try East Karana. Start with the carrion spiders, then go to gorge hounds, then move on up to crag spiders. The loot is terrible, but the experience is awesome. And there are guards around to cover your behind!
You could easily go to 25 or 26 just in this zone.

# Apr 21 2001 at 9:17 PM Rating: Decent
I played up to lvl 15 in Misty and then made the short, albeit potentially dangerous, run through Kithicor to Highpass Hold and stayed there until about 20... Then I went and got bound in the Arena and hunted aviaks and gnolls in Lake Rathe and aviaks and Paw gnolls in South Karana. Sometimes it's a little difficult to get a group but if there's enough ppl in the zone(s) it usually won't be too hard... I made a trek out to Lake of Ill Omen but personally didn't like it very much (most ppl seem to, though). North Ro is also a great spot from about lvl 10, and after 13 or 14 I think it's not a bad idea to head to Oasis of Marr for caimen and crocs and orcs (if you can get a group).

Hmmmmmmmm. Halflings.... *drool*

Huh! Wha...? Oh, excuse me. I was just thinking about a succulent halfling recipe my Ma used to make for me on my birthday. Very tasty.

What I want to know from you little people is this: do you think I could make any money from making hand puppets out of the halflings I hunt down and skin? I mean, it seems such a waste to throw away a perfectly good halfling pelt when, if I saved them, could make a business from products formed out of otherwise useless body parts. So what do you think? Will they sell?

By the way, instead of exchanging honeycombs for experience, try squeezing them over your heads. That way when I sink my teeth into your skulls you little guys are sweet AND crunchy.

'Allo all, I have a halfling rouge on test shard ( i chose that shard becuase its not nearly as crowded as others) and i have several questions for anyone who is willing to answer. First of all what is needed to tailor, and what kind of eq can i make with it. Second where are the goblins near Misty thicket, i cant seem to find any but workers:P. And Third, does anyone what kind of weapon i should be using (level 5 half, Thief)
Well, Thats all for now, thank you all for listning...and thank you more for answeing :)

For me, I need at least 4 halfling skins to use my tailoring skill because I am so large as a troll.
So to answer your question, 4 halfling skins, a needle and thread, and some tannin to cure the pelts. This will make a cute little hat. Or lampshade.

The goblins are past the wall, so just keep on going once you go through the gate until you reach the far side of the zone. There is where you will find many goblins. Here is a secret quest: playing Tag for experience! Go to Mooto and poke him with your dagger and tell him, "This is from Pusbag. You're It." He will proceed to let you play the game too, and will chase you all over the zone trying to tag you. Don't let him catch you!

And lastly, for a weapon, I prefer my enchanted mace (+5 WIS) since it allows me to crush the tiny skulls of those tasty halflings I love SO much.

Hope this helps!

This quest works for everyone, not just Rogues. Just tell Blinza "I will bring the soup" and run it over to the Deputy Lowmat. Gets casters the cash to get all ther first rank spells and increases your faction as well, it just takes a long time. (BTW it's faster to level killing the mobs and you'll probably make more money while your at it, you just don't get the faction hits).

If you start out a newbie halfling, you get to take advantage of Misty Thicket, without a doubt the best newbie zone in the game. There really is no reason, other than the joy of exploration, for a halfling to leave MT before level 10. At level 1 to 4 you get a nice easy zone with plenty of spiderlings to get silk to tailor and plenty of other easy creatures to kill, relatively close to the guards in case you get in trouble. Plus, there are several places to sell right there, saving you the run to town. From 5 to 8, you can kill goblins to your hearts content. Since the goblins are so close together and so close to the guard station, you can pretty much kill things as fast as you want and have a fairly safe run back to the guards if you get in trouble. There are also bats and rats for some nice quick experience. from 8 to 10, you have plenty of young kodiaks, giant wasps and scarabs to keep you busy. In addition, you can go into Rivervale at level 4 or so and kill piranhas, which drop teeth that you give to the guy by the lake for the equivalent of several gold each - great money at that level.

And at 10 or 11, you can cross over to Beholder and hunt the goblins guarding the beholder entrance for more easy experience an easy run from the safety of a zone. At 12, you are just a quick run away from Highpass, where you can hunt gnolls to level 15 and orcs to level 19 or 20. Then you can run back to beholder and kill minos and eyes until 25 or so, which are worth great xp and money. Basically, a halfling can easily level from 1 to 25 without going more than 2 zones away from Rivervale. In my opinion, no other race gets such great zones so close to its home town.

Thats true. i got a couple of elven guys from faydwer, and the greater faydark lag was so bad i decided to move to qeynos, since freeport was bad too. and i gotta tell you, travelling is one of the funnest things ive done in the game (esp. if you are under lvl 5). you need to get out and explore, get around, see things. they didnt make a 650 meg game just so you can get to level 60. if you want that, play pokemon. you need to get out and see things. id create a new charatcter just to explore. you might not understand how by reading it, but try it. youll like it. i did.

You spend levels 1-4 on the newbie stuff in misty thicket. At 5 you get new spells and can cross the wall to solo/group goblins where you will stay til 9. At 9 you get treeform for great exp and you get a damage shield (5 points i think), couple these with harmony and you can solo the orc camp unless a legionnaire spawns. Once you get to the point where the 2 orcs there are too easy you head over (about level 12) you head over to West Commons to the usually uncamped orc camp. From 12 to 14 you stay on that orc camp choosing your spawns because there are 6 but linked as a single a pair and a group of 3, so with harmony you can get as many or as few as you can handle. At 14 you want Spirit of Wolf and Expulse(?) Summoned. Pick up those two spells and head for Lavastorm where you will spend very few hours kiting summoned creatures, including imps and elementals and lava crawlers, to get to 19. After 19 you can port yourself so take your pick of excellent hunting areas.

As a halfling druid, you also have access to the BEST starting quests in the game. Run carrots from Rebo to Blinza, stew from Blinza to Deputy Lowmat, Turnips from Daleen to Eignon, and the note from Uner to Deputy Tagil.
Just to see how long it took, I started a new Halfling Druid and ran these quests. I made level 4 in 45 min....granted his melee abilities are ... pathetic!

I found that the best place to lvl up after about lvl 5 or 6 is the hill to the left, past the wall. This is assuming that you got to lvl 5/6 by killing rats, snakes, fire beetles and Klaknak warriors inside the wall.(you need good melee to do this) The hill (not too far from wall or gate, but far enough from Deputies most of the time)gives you access to large bats, tree snakes, and orc and goblin warriors that will con blue or black to you, and you can run to the gate fairly easily if you need to. I lvl'd up to 9 in one evening by using this strategy, and I still have good hunting there for lvling to 10. I did the quests mentioned in this forum whenever I had to go sell loot, and I'm sure that helped lvl me faster too.

I just started a halfling druid and found the note quest the best. By bringing that coin back from Deouty Tagil I am able to gain a half bubble of experience (at least so far at low levels) and some decend items with good resale value. Carrots which sell for 2 silver and a fishing rod selling for 1G 6 S. It also allows you an excuse to wait through the zone change to get better prices on your other items inside the town.

Being a Halfling you have to option of being a decent Faction with just about everyone unless you are a rogue. Halflings get along with the most races out of every other race. Wether you want to try and raise it with some is up to you. And Misty Thicket is probably THE BEST newbie zone in the game u can go from 1 to about 11 it's pretty nice.

It is not just halfling rogues that have faction problems. I have seen that rogues in general have such problems. Rogues start with bad faction with everyone not in thier npc guild.

1)Hahaha, you've got to be kidding me! Erudite wizards who move straight to Qeynos(as many do) are dubious with their own guild! If you have better faction, its because you earned it, and as an Erudite, you probably worked hard.

2)Every offical source say that Halflings and Gnomes have the widest faction, followed closesly by humans. Gnomish Necros can live comfortably in Neraik from the start.

3)Okay, now the relevant part. Be careful not to weigh in Faction before you take into account what class you are.

For example, when I made my rogue, Samadams, I thought "I'll make him a halfling for good faction. Plus, halflings kick ***, you know?"

Well, halflings do kick ***, but when I made my first trip to Freeport(the more tolerant human city), I found that everyone in town was dubious!

Why? Well, "I don't have time for rouges like you! Now make way for paying customers!" was a pretty good tip-off.

Now, I corrected the oversight with a few hours of quests, such as this one.

All you have to do is try it out yourself. Start a newbie erudite anything (but SK or necro, noone likes them) and hop the boat to Qeynos. Start conning people. Religious affiliates will be apprehensive, and all others indifferent. Then hop down in the catacombs, and run to the evil guilds. Wow, they con indifferent also. Believe what is written or what the game itself has shown.

Almost true, the little known little played Erudite race are the most liked. They are only KOS to Trolls, Ogres, and Iksar, which almost every other race in the game is as well. My Erudite Wizard is Amiable to all cities but Grobb, Oggok, and am Dubious to Cabalis.

Amazing on the erudite thing since, NO ONE likes them. Every Erudite I have seen started with poor faction, something that can be fixed though. Prolly you killed enough orcs and Gnolls to get liked.

Actually yes, to become amiable I did. But I could walk into any town and buy and sell from the get go. And No, very few factions dont like us, they just are not liked by us.

Iznoa I really wish you would quit rambling on about Eritudes in the Halfling section to yourself makes me think you have a mental problem.

As a halfling, you have the unmitigated pleasure of having the Misty Thicket as your newbie zone, which means nearly unlimited wealth on most servers. All you do is hunt the bixies that are all over the thicket, or even camp them at the queen's spawn, and collect the honeycombs they drop. Honeycombs can be sold to other players, especially casters questing for the Stein of Moggok, for 1-2 pp each. For a first level character, this is great money.

PS- I'm the first!!!

The queen spawns in a tower north of the gate. around level 9 or so I think. She casts a blindness spell, so be careful. There's a deputy close by, and he will frequently steal your kill (which somestimes isn't so bad, if you're in trouble).

I'm a lvl 14 warrior with full bronze. I got this full bronze with the pp I made off the honeycomb I sold. HONEYCOMB IS GOOD, SELL IT WHENEVER YOU CAN!
