although my main is a human pally, when i start to get bored i make an alt, i have been through a couple of alts, so, sold all the stuff they had and got some halfling druid equipment, (for all you that havenbt worked it out, i started a halfling druid) kitted him out, gave him a few crushbone belts and pads to get him up a few lvls and went from there, i'v enjoyed playing him, ok buffs, its great when you get SoW at lvl14, not gonna delete this alt!
Hlf Rngr in need of advice.....
# Nov 19 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Default
I have just achieved 9th lvl Rngr[hlf] and I need advice on spell choices[and why], as well as viable weapon choices. By viable I mean a monster drop, reasonable purchase[under 50PP], SHORT quest. I'm not good with a bow yet, but, I was just blessed with one by a higher-up. Bottom Line:What are good weapons to strive for? What are good spells?

# Nov 19 2002 at 11:58 AM Rating: Default
I LOVE this game! I have a 9th lvl Hlf Rngr and spend a lot of time in Misty Thicket[Luclin Server]. I like doing my own 'missions', like taking rusty weapons to Oasis to pay my blacksmith buddy who made my armor. I keep ALL No Drops hoping someone will trade for something interesting one day. I will help anyone who asks due to much help/love recieved from others. Not everyone helps.....but they're not REQUIRED to either! See you 'in-game'.....

RE: Hlf Rngr looking for trouble.....
# Aug 08 2003 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
He meant NPC's trading...as in finding the quests that the no-drops go with. Instead of flaming everybody just to make fun of them...why don't you take a second and actually figure out what they are trying to say. This guy actually sounds like one of the nice people on Everquest to play with, not the arrogant 12 year olds with no self-esteem that think they have to beat everyone at everything.

I might be just a tad bit late on the weapon thing, but for future reads..On a halfling ranger if you use two Lamentations ( only 900pp-1k on bertox server) you can do some great damage after you get your dualweild/double attack and 1 hand slashing up. At 42 my halfling ranger can hit for around 40 damage with the lammy at max, and thats going at 19 delay. So at level 9 i would suggest trying to buy a lammy, and you dont even need two of those...you could buy a higher damage offhand and still get the great damage off the lammy if its used in the main hand. I just bought a Defender's Lightblade ( at 42 is 17dmg 34 dly) and i can hit for about 65 in offhand so far, and still get that good damage spam with the lammy in primary. I prefer a faster weapon in my primary.just cant stand the slow ones like wurmslayer, even though i can hit for around 109 with it.

Halfling Boots
# Nov 13 2002 at 3:06 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, we all were boots for the stats and bonus we get from them.

But I'm tired of them covering my feet. I've found that Tolan's boots and Shissar scale boots cover my feet. Anybody know of good high level boots that do not cover my feet?

yes, it was, but these message boards are not used very often, so I think the admin wouldn't take the time to change it...

Thanks for the reply, but I didn't just mean the little picture above...but in-game as well.

Most of the other races look different since loading Luclin, but not the halflings. Is there an in-game setting to change??

Confirm that hide attempt

Unless I am mistaken, only Rogues and Rangers get success/failure messages with hiding attempts, and this is only after they get the hide skill.

All other halflings (and lower level rogues and rangers) get no indication of whether their racial hiding skill attempt is a success.

To hide effectively until 25, my ranger (Theowinn on TZ) will con far-off NPCs who are not indifferent, then attempt to hide, then con again. Your hide attempt is successful when they finally con indifferent.

Update-Rangers indeed get no confirmation when they try to hide, so I was mistaken in the original post.

RE: Confirm that hide attempt
# Jun 16 2003 at 2:18 PM Rating: Decent
Only rogues get the message that their hide or sneak succeeded or failed. No other classes do.

-Sneak Succeed: You are as quiet as a cat stalking its prey.

-Sneak Fail: You are as quiet as a herd of running elephants.

-Hide Succeed: You have hidden yourself from view.

-Hide Fail: You have failed to hide yourself.

My Ranger doesn't get a success/fail message when he tries to hide even after having trained in the skill. I'm pretty sure that only rogues get the success/fail message.

from 1-10, a druid or cleric helps since they can heal. From 11+, you should get someone who can take a few hits (pally/war) so you can work on your backstab. From here on out, you'll most likely be LFG since rogues cannot solo very well unless they're heavily twinked.

RE: Dolt
# Jun 16 2003 at 2:22 PM Rating: Decent
I'm pretty sure criticals come with the basic game, not as an expansion feature. Unless you have AA abilities as any other class, warriors do criticals with melee, wizards do critical blasts (with damage spells), clerics do critical heals (this seems to be very rare, or it never has a critical heal message.) Rogues can do throwing criticals, and rangers can do archery criticals. Warriors can also do crippling blows, which to my knowledge is a more damaging critical when you go berserk (have low hp left).

I have a 15 halfling war and 10 rang and i was doing the newbie armor quests that just came out for the halflings. I was just wondering if anyone else thought that the drop rates for some of the needed items are ridiculous. I certainly do. Other than that halflings are IMHO the best race out there.
RE: Newb quest
# Sep 06 2002 at 11:28 AM Rating: Decent
ALL these newbie quests seem to require items w/ insane drop rates. Try getting to Giant Field Rat Whiskers for the Surefall Glade Ranger's armor quest.... 3 (real time) days of camping and I have 4 of the 6 I need... *sigh*.... They could at least remove the "no drop" tag on these things.... we ARE newbies after all...

the ones from yellowjackets aren't too bad (large YJ only spawn during the day on newbie side of wall). The worst is getting the thorn drakeling scales. Not only are they a uncommon spawn, the normal and ruined scales are a rare drop so you have two things going against you.
RE: Newb quest
# Nov 22 2002 at 6:55 PM Rating: Decent
I would have to agree with you. I camped in Misty for 4+ days and killed maybe 4 drakelings with the help of a Ranger tracker. I received 2 ruined thorn drakeling scales, but no good ones. I need good ones to complete my armor quest. I have since given up on the drakelings and moved on... without my armor =)
Halfling Rangers
# Apr 08 2002 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
Hail fellow furry footed friends...I am looking around in Rivervale and I cannot seem to find another Ranger besides myself. I am on the Bristlebane server and I don't know if it is a plague on them or something...but I don't see any on mine. It is what we have all been asking for, just look at the other posts, yet they are almost non-existant. I am literal when I say I have not seen a single other one.

Second topic...I have also been given some hostility by the other Ranger Races about not being a real ranger...that I am just a druid that can't cast that well. How rude...half-breeds...I swear...all screwed up in the....covering their feet with metal...anyways has anyone else experienced this hostility? Just curious...Power to the Furry footed ones

I don't see many halflings in general. The ones I do see are druids (Nameless server). I sporadically see a halfling cleric; on rare occasions a halfling warrior. Halfling rogues are everywhere, though :)
RE: Halfling Rangers
# Jul 12 2002 at 4:53 PM Rating: Decent
The halfling ranger craze has somewhat lessened (when it was first introduced everyone had one and after a while i think everyone got sick of grouping with rangers all the time and all deleted their rangers at the same time thus, theres no more halfling rangers j/k)

I personally dont know why there arent more halfling rangers... we have the best starting stats... 10% exp bonus... and best of all... HAIRY FEET!!!

Druids r da bomb
# Mar 29 2002 at 9:41 PM Rating: Default
Druids are the best. Unless a warrior has a centi weapon a dru can out damage by a longshot. Plus in higher lvls, warriors suck. If you want to somethin like one be a rouge or paladin, maybe ranger. Trust me though you need magic in this game be a druid. Wizzies are nice too, but hobbits cant be those.
RE: Druids r da bomb
# Jul 30 2002 at 5:09 PM Rating: Decent
Also, if u think Druids R da Bomb then why havent u registered a druid, Dont talk bad about warriors or you will have so many people hating you. One more thing to think about, Everquest needs All classes. If you look at a group without a cleric or shammy, just 1 druid trying to heal 2-3 guys you will see a bad group. Every class is needed for something so remember that or put a sticker on ur back that says I AM NEWB
RE: Druids r da bomb
# Jun 16 2002 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
omg your dumb lol you the kinda of ppl that give good druid like me. A bad name. oh and btw if were so much better then wars why dont you tank?
and wtf war are crappy at high lvl and druid are the best? from what I know at higher lvls druids have alot harder time finding groups then warrior who are needed to TANK but I am sure a f^$6 like you doesnt know much about that
RE: Druids r da bomb
# May 18 2002 at 12:21 AM Rating: Good
STFU druids are a great class true and they can do some pretty good damage but with out a warrior saving their butt they dont last long, you will learn this later on when your not a noob any more =p

Ill tell you this when you get higher in levels it is easy to get armor that makes up for our poor strength and high agi and dex is not as easy to boost up so yeah putt the points in agi dex and a couple in sta youll do fine str is moastly just for dooin more damage any ways and that little to do with being a tank =)

I recently created a Halfling warrior and put 15 pts. into STR and 10 into STA -- STA is important once you get to higher lvls and need the hitpoints and there are very few STA-increasing items. Some would say to put all points into STA because other stats such as AGI and DEX are already fairly high, but the newbie armor quests for halfling warriors provide a significant upgrade in STA (+37 with all pieces and the weapon, in addition to +12 in the STR department).

I also have not had problems finding AGI gear if needed -- Drolvarg mantles (AGI+6) are always on sale.

As far as deity, go agnostic unless you have some desire for deity-specific armor (if you have a dwarf friend who is a blacksmith, you might consider worshipping Brell).

I am playing a halfling druid and I want to be able to get better at "hide" and "sneak." It won't let me. Is there any way to be able to get these skills such that they can improve?

Alternatively, is there any items that could enable a halfling druid to sneak and hide better than, "below Average", which it has been stuck on permanently.

I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me. You can post or email me privately at, "dark_dreams_rising@yahoo.com"

unless you have a rogue or ranger you can not increase your skill in sneakin or hidin, just be happy you have the skill heh,

a pointer for useing the sneak skill is if a race dont like you mutch you sneak up behind tham and they like you better and sell cheeper!
RE: Help !

from my experience, teh best way to increase sneak and hide is to keep using it in battle. whenever you get the chance un-click attack, try the skill, then quickly bring back auto attack. just keep doing that...

The pre-Luclin halflings were prettier, IMHO. Most of the new halfling faces are pointier. After installing the expansion, Phanny and I both looked totally different - Phanny went from black to blonde hair! Luckily, /facepick solves that problem. Hair colors and styles, plus eye color are choosable too.
