Hello..
I am "VERY NEW" to the game. Bought it last night after work (Ugh).
I have made a human wizard (dont remember diety). Started in West Freeport.
A char named Pans helped me get start (rather nice of him I thought).
This mornin, a few individuals gave me some money (10 Plat) and some brass arm and leg things (which was QUITE generous) although I couldnt use it.
Here's my thing.. how long should i stay in the area around the gate?
The Human
 | The Human starts off in either Freeport or Qeynos/Surefall and has various options for where to go from there. What is the best strategy for playing a Human? What zones and cities should you take him to and which ones should you avoid? Which factions should you work on improving, and which factions should you be wary of decreasing? What are the best quests for the beginning Human? Where are the best shops? How should you role play your Human?

Here's one no one talks about. I created a Human Necro. WHY? No Clue but it's fun as hell. The Guards don't bother me and I can run around the catacombs as well without a spectre pet giving me a second look. I know the stats are bad, but I just am here to have a good time. The one drawback thusfar, was running through the Hills of Qeynos at 2 a.m. int the rain, and losing my pet for about 3 minutes,,,only to finally see hum running to "master" with 2 rabid grizzlies and a wolf in tow! Not good for a lvl 7. Which by the way I achieved in a day. I say experiment, have a little fun. That's what were all paying our monthly fees for isn't it?

What the hell is so bad about being a human ranger since they learn the night visions at specific levels?
Also to the main question, Human as pure spell casters:
I wish they were more better, human spell casters look good, just hate the fact that they have 85 int!!!!!!! and 85 wisdom!!!!!!!.

As the player of a Human Druid, I agree with you completely. Ranger/Druids, since you get nightvision via a spell and i get it via wolf form, are two of the only classes Humans can compete on equal footing with our other race coworkers. Monk being the other big one.
Unfortunaltly Verant apperantly doesn't like Humans, as we are the best race for NO class (some would argue the SK maybe we could TIE for 1st with DaEl's and Iksar), take 2nd or tie for 2nd in only 3 classes, and up getting screwed alot.
The big disadvantage for me is NO cutural tailoring (not so bad for you, since you can wear banded line of stuff, which i believe includes Rygor doesn't it?), and for you a hard time finding groups until higher levels, when your tracking skill actually pays off very well.
i suppose the big question is do we still get XP bonuses? Given we're tied with HaEl's for lowest starting stats, AND we get no instinctive skills, AND we have no nightvision, AND we can only wear one size of armor... well if we don't get an XP bonus it's got to be a poor statement on the part of Verants game designers.

You are roleplaying a class as much as a race, so I see no use in slagging those who choose to be a human whatever.
If your assertion is that ROLEPLAYING a human, since you are one in real life, is stupid, I fail to see the logic of your argument.
Real-life, modern-day humans, most of us anyway, do not get to be Paladins, Rangers, Druids, or Wizards. Neither do we get to go out in real life and bash the fantastic creatures that we can in this game. There are two facets of roleplaying a human that you are discounting out of hand because we do not choose to be a fantastic creature ourselves.
I agree with the Pusbag (again -- Lord help me!) when he says that the greater flexibility of the Human race is their strength. When some, as you do, choose to concentrate on their weaknesses, you ignore their strengths.
Personally, I have already been through all the races but the kitty-kats, and in all classes, except the Beastlord. The remaining characters you see in my profile and their respective levels should support my statement that I have grown bored of them all after a while.
The Human monk I started on the FV server, thinking he would be a better challenge and, therefore, more interesting, is my last chance to stay with this game before I become bored with it as well. Though I will now have to try out the Vah Shir and the Beastlord some day, too.

listen pal if you don't like humans DON'T PLAY THEM! but I find that they are good all around and they don't get killed by the guards like your great trolls and ogres and they don't take up half of norath when fighting in a group.

Just a grammar lesson: no such word as "funnest"... its most fun. Also, humans level alot faster so I think they are fun too. My best friend is a human wizard. hehe I'd like to see you duel her, she can kick *****

im a human cleric and this is my main character. He is lvl 11 currently and he rocks nothing to it. By far human clerics are the best clerics because they have good strength to. Grouping for humans 8is easy because of there natural stregth so good look all tata.

I'm a Human Warrior and I do quite nicely....I level at a reasonable rate and with my equipment I have 102 strength unbuffed so far (Not like I have a bunch of high-level equipment on me). I've heard that Human Warriors suck but I don't know what they're talking about, I do quite well.

I'm a level 19 human cleric. I don't see why people has to bash on humans. I've havn't really had a bad experience with my character. i've leveled up qutie nicely with my charcter i've done so with all in a matter of a month. thats preety damn good considering my real life engagements and due to the fact i'm new to this game even though i don't act like it. Besides the skills and attributes i think is all in ur head. for one thing there are qeust items and other certain stuff to make ur stats higher for a human u just have to have the balls and gumption to go after them. i mean what do u play this game for anyways just to bash on things. if so u don't really know how to use ur imagination part of ur brain. I could play the worst race for a cleric and still make it out as the best cleric overtime and thats what u play this game for isn't it is to take the time away from ur busy life and rest relax and imagine wonders. well i spoken my peace i geuss i could say a big thing but this is enough.

I have one thing to say to you, Good for you! you are being a Human Cleric while everyone else talks trash about them! Never let anyone make you do something just cuz they said so. Even though I chose a Woodelf, feel the same way you do. I chose a Ranger and everyone else I know always talks trash about them! I am fixing this problem of mine 1 duel at a time ) You have made my day brighter by not giving up. I thank you. I hope you win a Cleric Best of the Best someday to show them that you are an equal Cleric.
Ok, i have made many characters and many races, and the race i like the best is Human.
I play on a PvP server(tallon zek) so think of this from my perspective.
in my opinion, Karana is the best choice for any class, if you can choose it. first, you get good faction with the karana resisdents(who you will sell to when you hunt there) and the fact that Qeynos is my favorite city, provided that there is a rich environment all around you. Not to mention the fact that you are surrounded by the human team. This is what i have concluded from my expiriences.
Human warriors are horrible. Low str, sta, agi and dex. you dont get enough points to sufficently raise all of them. The best choice for a tank would be a paladin or a ranger.
Forget the evil classes. Rogues are sort of nuetral if you choose Karana, but many XP quests go against you. Evil classes just cannot thrive well in qeynos.
Clerics are OK, depending on the way you play them. I would rather make a druid, because i love soloing.
Intelligence casters...they arent useless. in qeynos, most of your spells are there(or nearby in erudin). As a Wizard, all, if not most, were in qeynos until 20. Then when i got tox gate, i just go to erudin for all my spells. the intelligence stinks, but you dont need any other stats. though erudin is not far, i would suffer about 30 int for the factions that are on the plus side when you are a human.
Monks are a class i havent played yet. They dont make a good solo class, due to low HP, but they deal nice damage. im not too sure about how monks should be played or anything like that, but i dont see many on tallon. All i know is that they can make really good low lvl fighters on rallos.
i hope this helps people out. Qeynos is a great place to start in. My suggestion is a Ranger or a caster. Be warned, caster are hard to level no matter what race you are.

Well, yes, High Elves CAN be pretty darned good "mages, wizzys, clerics, and enchanters," but they are by far the lousiest Druids and Monks. Oops, they cannot be those classes, can they? I'm sorry... (Grins)
Just taking a good-natured swing at you here, but my point is that in pointing out somebody's weaknesses one tends to overlook their strengths, and this is precisely what you have done.
When you note that Humans cannot be as good at those classes as the High Elves can, you are not wrong, but you fail to acknowledge that Humans can be almost anything they want to be, while the High Elves, among other races, can only be certain things.
Contrary to the illusion of Mobius' strip, there really ARE at least two sides to everything, and that is all I wanted to get across here.

ok, i have a human druid....she is lvl 34, and lost all her stuff do to corpse delay so she now has 111 WiS....should i create a new druid, like a half elf or something....or continue playing this druid? ack, im confused

i think u should keep playing it..Althou my sister has a halfling druid and her wis is 127(she is lvl 22)but my main is a hum and i love it.
Personally i think u should keep it sound like u put alot of work into it....

Ok what is the biggest deficiency of humans? The answer, of course, is thier night blindness.
Stat wise they are average across the board. No really good stats, no really bad stats. Humans do not have the best stats for any one class. Not even Monks anymore. However, I feel they are very good as certain classes. They also have some of the worst stats for certain classes.
The Very Good Classes Humans Can Be:
-RANGERS: Best starting strength made even better by STRENGTH OF EARTH. Agility is good due to Rangers getting FEET LIKE CAT. Need to pump up dex some. Get wisdom up to 80. Night blindness becomes a mute point at level 30 with EYES OF THE CAT then WOLF FORM.
-DRUIDS: Wisdom is only 5 less the max of halflings/wood elves. Strength and Stamina are highest of all Druid races. Night blindness a mute point at level 24 with WOLF FORM.
-MONKS: Duh!!
The Weakest Classes Humans Can Be:
If feel the weakest classes are any of the intellegence based casters.
NOTE: I believe any race/class combo can make level 60. Even those with less adequate stats and beginning abilities. If you have your heart set on a certain race/class combo, GO FOR IT!

Ok the solution to all of the human bashing...if you don't like the stats...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. No one said you HAD to play a human. You just have to use your IMAGINATION more because of the average stats. There are ways around everything. So quit whinning and play something else. We human players are having fun with them.

i admit it humans can be crap but they do have some advantages.they have a wide variety of classes they can choose from and are the only class besides iskarr that can be a monk(for those of you that don't have expansion pack)and it is good that they are average they don't lack in a area allowing other enemies to exploit that weakness. i am still waiting for PvP and PK info :)

Hello there has been something that has been bothering me for a little bit and I was wondering can you be looted if you are on a PvP server and/or if you are a PK and someone kills you.are they able to loot you in both,can'tloot you in either or just in one situation? PS humans really aren't that bad of races they are evenly divided in all stats the only thing that is bad about them is that they can't see well in the dark(which is easily remedied by getting a Greater Lightstone from a willowisp or other lightsource).
