    You say, 'Hail, Master Rixiz'

Master Rixiz says 'You are on the grounds of the Brood of Kotiz. If you do not belong, you must leave at once. There shall be no [third rank skullcap] for you.'

You say, 'What third rank skullcap?'

Master Rixiz says 'I offer the third rank apprentice skullcap to those who wear the second. If that is you, then you will do the [bidding of the tower].'

You say, 'I will do the bidding of the tower.'

Master Rixiz says 'Take this glass canopic. Within it you shall place a brain for me. The brain I seek is that of a sarnak crypt raider. Any shall do. The ones we seek should be near the Lake of Ill Omen. When you obtain the brain, you must quickly put it into the glass canopic with [embalming fluid]. When these are combined, the canopic shall seal and if you return it to me with your second rank skullcap, I shall hand you the next and final skullcap.'

    You say, 'What embalming fluid?'

Master Rixiz says 'Embalming fluid is created through brewing, but do not drink it!! You can learn about the process of brewing on our grounds.'

Once I had the embalming fluid in hand, I went back and obtained the Brood Canopic container (2 slots, no drop), placed the embalming fluid in it and went off to find the mean nasty mob that drops the brain. Combining the embalming fluid with the brain yields a "Preserved Sarnak Brain."

Master Rixiz says 'You shall get no skullcap until I have the preserved raider brain and your second circle apprentice skullcap.'

    [Hand him both items.]

Master Rixiz says 'You have done well. Here is your final apprentice skullcap.'

Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 2.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 10 gold from Master Rixiz.

I have the exact problem, I received a sack not a canopic. The sack is supposed to be for the forth skullcap quest. Now I'm totally stuck after wasting hours on this.

    Oh yes it is.
But if you're a necro it won't show up if you have "Show items I can use" ticked.

I can confirm that Weaponsmith Grugl in East Cab sells it in Agnarr - Kunark era progression server.

in reference to a post below, smithing merchant in East Cabilis has the forging hammer... along with numerous others. This is on Phinny progression Luclin era (I'd be surprised to hear it wasn't available during Kunark).

Just in case anyone is doing this quest the forging hammer for the granite bone powder is no longer sold. Or at least the vendors i checked don't sell it. You have to either kill a skeletal worker(The Overthere) or possibly the dwarven smith(Crushbone). I am not sure on the smith, but i did just kill the worker and looted it, was quicker to get to.

Go to the second island, make sure all the mosquitos are kept down and the escaped will pop. Be ready with snare and pet, because they wander off fast. lol
    Here's the trick...
    # Oct 25 2004 at 9:41 AM Rating: Excellent
Just kill everything EXCEPT the frogloks. It seems that every mob will attack and kill them so if you keep the mosquitos, leeches and skeletons dead you will get the escaped to pop fairly quickly. For my first one I killed the skippers and escorts and it took forever to get the first shackle. When I killed everything else, the escaped popped in 8 minutes. I was using a tracker though... this is a huge help.
    escapees still there

I found two escaped froglocks in the Swamp newbee yard by just killing everything that moved, focusing on skeeters and frogs. It took me two nights, because the first night I explord the islands a fair amount.

If you have the GOD expansion and can reach the boat in the Abysmal Sea (I waited until 15 to use the Adventure Camp Magus's), you can get the needed tradeskills (brewing and smithing) to 54 for free using the instructors there.

This quest is BROKEN (on Druzzil ro at least) as of 9/25/04...

The Froglok you need to get the pebbles that is used in the embalming fluid is no longer spawning.

I searched for several hours with a 65 guildie druid and we killed everything we could.

There's a problem with this quest, i've obtained both the embalming fluid and the sarnak raider brain. but those two will not combine withing the canopic container.

    Any ideas?

Just go camp about 30-40 plat in the Warrens which is easy with the bronze weapons and ringmail from teeth quests. Raise your smithing skill to 21 with training points then raise it to 50 using small block of ore/file/water then at 37 use metal bits/lantern mold/water/bottle to get it to 50 or a little higher if you want. Just remember to sell what you make and it won't take much more than 15-20pp but you'll need more plat for the brewing. Buy 5 stacks of barley/hops/cask/water then after you're at 21 from training points goto any brew barrel and just combine it all. You'll waste the pebbles if you fail the bone dust combine but the brewing combine is safe because you get the dust back on failure. The Sarnak crypt raider I found very near to the explorer tower like everyone else, took me like 15 minutes. Good luck...

    # Jul 17 2002 at 8:03 PM Rating: Decent
Here is a helpful hint for those whose trade skills may be lacking and you don't want to waste the granite pebbles in a smithing attempt.

Once you turn in the shackles to the Toilmaster the granite pebbles you receive are not No Drop

So, find a friend or guild member who is a high level smith and brewer, give the granite pebbles and all the other components to him or her and they can make the embalming fluid for you. It is not a no drop item.

    # Dec 13 2002 at 4:00 PM Rating: Decent
If the fluid is no drop, then shouldn't you make it yourself? Update: Just did the embalming fluid. The dust from smithing the pebbles is no drop, lore, and no rent. The fluid can be traded.

Get lucky or raise smithing skill

When it comes to making the bone granite powder you have two choices:

    1) Get lucky - Collect the shackles for the pebble quest, combine the required components, and hope Cazic smiles upon your efforts and rewards you with the bone granite powder. If this fails see option 2.

    2) Raise your smithing skill to at least 40, although I read the combine trivial is near 50.

I went for option 1 and failed the combine (twice) with a smithing skill around 20 and 27. When you fail the smithing combine you lose all the components. I'm sure I don't need to mention how long it takes to get two more shackles from the escaped froggies.

After failing twice, I raised my skill (see option 2) to 40 and was able to successfully combine the items on two occasions.

I wish the forging part worked like the brewing part. If you fail the brewing combine you at least get your bone granite powder back. You only lose your rubbing alcohol and your bog juices.

    Fare thee well...

Hello all, first time posting. Just adding my 2cp. I have tried this tactic 5 times and have succeeded every time. This will probably work best if your necro is not your primary character. I have found a spot at loc 696,2669 where the escaped froglok is ALWAYS stuck when I log on. I tried a few time of clearing the island and waiting for the pop....frustrating! What I ahve found is that if I find a place to camp for the night....log back on , eh ..whenever. The reason I say stuck is the escaped froglok can be found bouncing between two trees at loc 696, 2669. Why? I don't know...maybe a pathing error. But I have tried this 5 times now and he's been there every time. This will probably be effective as long as it takes the word to spread. I believe the reason it works is because everytime I log on I'm the only one in the zone...SoNH is very underused! Just a tactic to keep in you bag of tricks. If you get tired of clearing the island hoping for a pop and log out, make loc 696,2669 your first stop when logging back on. Just a note, it's always been at least a few hours or up to a day between log on attempts for this. I don't believe it is a matter of just "clearing aggro" I think it takes some time for one escaped froggy to get caught in this pathing error.

    1+ pile of Granite pebbles
    1+ forged hammer

    THERE U GO lmao....know i got a stupid question..
i know u get pile of granite pebbles from trolmaster <sorry for spelling> but how do i get it from him?
    RE: granite pebbles
    # Jul 23 2002 at 5:52 PM Rating: Default
to get those granite pebbles that you want you have to go to Swamp Of No Hope and kill escaped froglocks and they drop busted froglock shackles and you need to get 2 of those and return them to the tulmaster and he will give you granite 1 granite pebbles. The escaped froglocks spawn from when you kill 4 froglock escorts and the escorts drop a pie (food) and a no flute (bard instrument).
    Explorers
    # Apr 04 2002 at 11:44 PM Rating: Decent
The tower is no longer empty. It is now filled with about 8 "Explorers" (basically Firiona Vie scum).

I really lucked out. My SK was heading down to hunt Explorers. I was just getting ready to summon a pet, when the crypt raider walked right in front of me. I killed it and ran my necro down and looted the body. So, basically this was a zero time camp for me.

Was camping this guy today, first spawned at 9PM in the usual spot, but was killed by a gobby. Naturally I was pissed, then my friend told me that he saw another, I checked track (on my druid) and there was 2 more. Boy was I glad.
