Find Master Xydoz in the Tower of Death and ask him about the Second Rank Skullcap.

    You say, 'Hail, Master Xydoz'

Master Xydoz says 'What is it you seek within the tower? Could it be that you are a new apprentice? If so, you are required to don the [apprentice skullcap].'

You say, 'Tell me about the second rank skullcap'

Master Xydoz says 'Looking for the second rank skullcap? Look no further, but be prepared to earn it. I seek a [faded tapestry]. Now, too, so do you.'

    You say, 'What faded tapestry?'

Master Xydoz says 'I have heard reports of such a thing found upon sarnak hatchlings. They must have scampered from the safety of their dwelling with their master's property. I would like to see this tapestry, but only when it has been mended. I need to find a necromancer who is [adept at tailoring].'

You say, 'I am adept at tailoring'

Master Xydoz says 'If you are a member of the Brood and wish to assist, you may seek out this tapestry. Find the torn and ripped pieces and take them both to a sewing kit. Return with the mended tapestry and your first rank skullcap and I shall see that you are rewarded with coin and a second rank skullcap.'

You need to acquire two pieces of the now-destroyed tapestry and repair them. The pieces are the Torn and Ripped Tapestry, which you find off of Sarnak Hatchlings as rare drops in the Lake of Ill Omen. Tailor the two pieces together (the result is a mended tapestry, not a faded one, but it works) and hand them in along with your Apprentice Skullcap - 1st Rank for your Apprentice Skullcap - 2nd Rank.

Master Xydoz says 'I must have the mended tapestry and your first circle apprentice cap before I reward you.'

Master Xydoz says 'A job well done, apprentice ____. Your fine service shall earn you the second circle apprentice skullcap. I would advise you to forget this tapestry - it is nothing more than an ancient rug of no importance.'
Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 2.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 10 copper from Master Xydoz.
You receive 1 gold from Master Xydoz.

do you also need your 1st level skull cap as well as the mended tapestry?

You need BOTH the mended tapestry and the 1st level skullcap. I didn't realize this and gave Master Xydoz just the tapestry. The response was that he needs both, yet he kept the tapestry. Since then I have only had both tapestry pieces once, and failed in creating the mended tapestry.
Why do so few know this...

Sorry about mispost..hit enter on accident

anyways, people need to realize, just because you forgot to hand something in all at the same time, doesn't mean you're sol, you still have plenty of time to finish handing items in. Ever notice how sometimes it only takes 2 scorp pincers to get the quest? or 1 watcher torch? it's because the guy who handed items in before you handed in an odd number and the quest was left over. In bigger quests later on this is done purposefully, it's called Multi-Questing.

So, if you ever hand something and forgot something else, just go run and get it and bring it back to hand it in, you'll get your reward.
I've done it before, handed in wrong kind of Dufrenite to quest barb and ran back home to get another one and gave to ogre to crush and everything, went back to barb handed in right kind of dufrenite for the totemic :)

No, you need to hand in BOTH the tapestry and your 1st rank skull cap in order to gain the 2nd rank skull cap

This went easy for me. I got the ripped part off the sarnaks and the torn from a tailor in the lake of Ill Omen zone. With a tailoring skill of 5 I got it on the first try. Luck perhaps but..
    OK quest for 5th Level

I didn't mind the quest so much as getting the lvl to put it into tailoring...but I needed the excuse anyway.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 18 2000 at 6:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've raised my Tailoring skill to the default 21 or 22 you can get it to via training. Is that enough to mend the tapestry (give or take a couple of fails)?

The mended tapestry only requires 1 tailoring skill point to succeed. It is considered to be one of the two easiest tailoring jobs.

What is the other easy tailoring job?

I would assume it's the silk swatch from two spider silks, which never fails to my knowledge.

Oh ANYTHING can fail -(. When my barbarian shammy decided to do a bit of tailoring he even failed at skill level 10 to create them. Of curse being a barbarian i'm not surprised he failed at it, but Iksars wouldn't be more suited at tailoring than Barbarians, would they? :-)

Sorry but making spider swatches NEVER fails. Go ahead and have your shammy try to make one at with ZERO tailoring and he will not fail.
    Guaranteed!

sorry, i've failed at making silk swatches. It's the Silk Threads (2 spiderLING silks) that seems never to fail. However, no matter what skill level you are, there is ALWAYS a chance to fail.

A friend of mine failed at making the mended tapestry today (tailoring skill of 0), he got his torn piece back but lost the ripped piece.

It just happened again. He combined the Torn & Ripped pieces, and we got a message saying he had failed at making the Mended Tapestry but had made the alternate product of a Torn Tapestry.

It's NO DROP so you gotta do it yourself. Had a friend make it for me and it he couldn't give it to me. =(
The pieces aren't, just the mended.

I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

I recently got the 2nd rank skullcap. I bought the torn and ripped tapestry in the Field of Bone zone in both buildings one building has the torn half and the other side has the ripped half. I'm also good at sewing it only took me two trys. If anyone needs help you can find me in the Karana Server.
    Torn Tapestry
    # Jul 21 2000 at 7:56 AM Rating: Default
The torn one can be found at some vendors as it can be sold, the ripped one is the hard one to get. I have had them twice now and have had my tailoring skills into the 20's but it failed both times. If anyone knows of an easier way to find the ripped tapestry ley me know
    check merchants
    # Jul 09 2000 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
I think at least one of the two tapestry pieces can be sold to merchants so if you're having trouble finding one check merchants in the area.

I've found BOTH pieces at the merchants but at separate times. Put them together and turned it in along with my first rank cap to get the second. This was done on 1-25-01. I didn't really pay much attention to them other than names.
