At the end of the 6th quest, Garadain Glacierbane mentioned a delicate [mission].

You say, 'What mission?'

Garadain Glacierbane says 'A Coldain... A very important Coldain, has been abducted by the Ry'gorr. He was gathering information that is imperative to our victory over the brainless heathens. You must find him before he is killed and escort him to safety. Return to me with proof that Corbin Blackwell is safe.'

You must find and rescue Corbin Blackwell. Kill Warden Bruke for his Shackle Key (no drop) and then go to Corbin.

You say, 'Hail, Corbin Blackwell'

Corbin Blackwell says 'Hurry! There's not much time. give me the key and show me proof that you are a friend sent to rescue me...'

Give both the key and your Mithril Insignia Ring to Corbin Blackwell. He will make his escape (and give back the ring). You must protect Corbin until he reaches Dobbin Crossaxe.

Along the way, four Ry`Gorr and four giants including Commander Bahreck, a named giant, will attack Corbin.

Corbin Blackwell says 'I thought I was a dwarfskin rug there for a minute! Thank Brell for your help stranger! Now cover me while I make good my escape. I am weakened and cannot endure much more.'

Corbin Blackwell says 'Almost there now, just a bit further...'

Corbin Blackwell says 'Uh oh, looks like they were tipped off somehow... I hope you can handle them.'

Corbin Blackwell says 'I'll hack at your knees 'til you fall down! Out of love for the Dain, for the glory of the crown!'

You must keep him alive.

You have slain Ry`Gorr Basher!
Your faction standing with RyGorr Clan Snow Orcs could not possibly get any worse.
Your faction standing with Citizens of Froststone got better.

Give him your Mithril Insignia Ring in exchange for a note to Garadain.

Dobbin Crossaxe says 'Thank you, _____, your deeds will be mentioned to the Dain. Please take this note from Corbin to Garadain, it may help him to achieve victory over the enemy.'

Go back to Garadain Glacierbane and give him the note. He will reward you with the adamantium ring and the final quest.

They must pay for their transgressions against our people. We are just waiting on you. Prepare yourself for glorious battle and tell me when you are [ready].'

These quests are a lot of fun. I"ve done up to the 7th with just a 52 Bard, 55 Monk (kos) and 60 Cleric (kos). A lot of people can do them solo too.

8th ring is not much harder, I will just need someone who can cast invis.

When i petitioned i was told that Dobbin Crossaxe has nothing to do with this quest and that he is the WRONG NPC!!! I am being made to return the head of the frost giant Commander just to get ring 6 back!!!

Maybe you have to wait for Dobbin to say something, THEN give your ring to him. I accidently gave mine to Corbin =(. But im on 5th ring again and quickly moving up.

Friend told me when Corbin gets to Dobbin, wait for him to dispawn then give ring to Dobbin. Not sure about this tho.

This quest was done last night, by a 56 Pally, 42 Druid, 51 Cleric (they concentrated on Corbin and the Ry'Gorr) and myself a 43 Bard. Aggroed the Giants and ran them to IC Bridge area. Decided I needed exp and Charm kitied the lot. Very easy although used all my mana and had to DoT the Commander. After fight even dinged 44 woohoo

Just soled the dwarf rescue part as a pally.Was really easy,I turned my key+ring to the dorf and he began walking.When we were close to Dobbin camp,the giant commander shouted something so I taunted the dorf,I dragged him to the north (to the shore not far from Utree).Then,I rooted him,I logged to clear aggro,and when I came back he was on his way to Dobbin camp again.Gave ring to Cobbin and turned note to Garadain.Was ultra easy and u can solo it if u got FD,root or mem blur.

Killed Warden Bruke with a 55 cleric a 40 bard and I,60 pally.They were at bridge in case I'll get a train and after having read all the posts I was a bit anxious.But not only I single pulled him (!),with stun (!),to the bridge but he didn't even gate (!).I'm pretty sure I can even solo him (conned light blue).Now I'm off to try 2nd part of quest :)

Ok, everything ran smooth (doing this solo) until Corbin got to Dobbin's hut. I'm kos to dwarves so I feigned a little early. Corbin did his "you tuffer than I imagined" line then walked to Dobbin's hut.

Wanting to get into position to hear the next text I hit sneak and stood but had failed at mem wipping Corbin so he reaggrod and came back after me. I promptly fd again and Corbin depopped.

Having read the other text in this post I positioned myself near Dobbin and waited the 10 minutes for the "Show me proof" line. It never came. I waited 20 minutes. Nothing.

I had just resigned myself to doing this portion of the quest again when a second Dobbin spawned! I thought maybe this was because the existing one had respawned and was the one that would give the note. I took a leap of faith and gave him my ring.

The sound of exp, and a note! WOOOOT!

Warden Bruke seems to do that insta-gate thing EVERY time to me when he gets low enough on life to run. I've had the 30-giant spawn thing happen to me a couple of times now. It lags the whole zone.

If you need to kite him solo, just make sure to keep another giant alive and near him when he gets low. That way he never turns to run and will keep chasing you until he dies.

The giants he spawns (Kromriff Soldiers) are very magic resistant. Fire-based DoT stuck every time, but could neither chain(snare) or charm them once. If left alone long enough they WILL despawn automatically.

Tonight I got my 7th Insignia ring. We had myself 53 ranger , 50 cleric and 54 Ranger. 54 Ranger (Selesr) Kited off all the Gaints. I ran in and aggro'ed the Orcs. Let me say there is more than 4 of them.. more like 6-8. Selesr snared all the giants and then helped with the Orc Bashers. Once all the Orcs were snared and rooted Corbin kept aggro'ing them so Cleric just Atoned (Memory wipe) him. After the Atone he just went on his way to Dobbin safely. We just kept the Orcs and Giants away from him and rooted. He got there safely and I turned in my ring and got the note to give Garadain. Turned note in and got my 7ac +7str +7sv mag ring...

And who says Rangers suck... LOL to all who say you need 1-2 full groups... Just get 2 Rangers =)

BTW Cleric didn't have to heal either of us until we decided to finish off the mobs for fun and exp.

I just did this quest with only the help of a cleric for Warden fight. I'm a 56 Sk. It took me a total of about 15 minutes.

I pulled the Warden behind the hut and started whooping on him and the cleric kept me alive. I've killed him twice so far and he never gated on me. Looted the key.

Pulled the guards and interrigator to clear area and then turned in key and ring to Corbin. He then starts off on his walk. I stayed close to him and followed along, had him on target the entire time.

He gives you a hint about when ambush comes by saying "we are almost there." About 15 seconds after that he says "they are on us" yada yada. Like the others have said, as soon as i saw him speak I attacked and ran back from where we came. Nothing agro'd us and I led him over to the Dobbin hut. When I got close to it I simply FD'd and cleared agro.

I stood up and waited for him to say the "you are braver than i thought, you have saved me" message. He then walked into the hut and talked to Dobbin. After about 10 seconds he poofed and Dobbin asked for proof. Gave him ring and he gave me a note to take back to Garadain. Handed the note to Garadain and he gave me the 7th ring.

Then we chased down the giants from the ambush and slaughtered them... hey, they were blue! /grin

Well, I just completed this step of the ring quest solo and it was astoundingly simple.

When you take down Warden Bruke three giants spawn around the front of his hut as soon as you attack him. So don't attack him while standing at the front of the hut! Instead, target him and run around the back of the hut and cast something on him. The giants will spawn around the front, he'll run out the back and will not agro any of them. Result: 1 key.

Clear out the Kromrif Prison Guards, the RyGor Prison Guards and the Interrogator of RyGor to get to Corbin. Hand him the key and follow him. He'll walk a little way and will shout soemthign like "They are upon us" when the 4 orc, 4 giants and the commander spawns. IMMEDIATELY attack Corbin to agro him and run him towards the ocean. The giants and orcs will be too far away to agro and Corbin will come hairing after you. Run him back a bit towards the prison then double back and run to Dobbin leaving him behind and camp to clear agro. When you log back in, if you have done it correctly, Corbin should have regained his senses and will be wandering towards Dobbin. Wait until Corbin despawns and Dobbin asks you for your ring. Et voila! Quest completed.

One word of warning though, the giants and orcs you just spawned will not just vanish. They start to head towards the Rygor fort front entrance. I was not aware of this when I did the quest. Neither were the poor saps camping the fort. Two groups of peeps in the forties were annihilated by the returning giants and orcs. Sorry lads. 8)

This is the first really hard quest in the coldain ring series. First you have to camp the Warden. He drops shackle keys. Then you clear the 2 giant prison gaurds and the 3 orcs and then talk to Corbin. You give him the shackle keys, show him ring, then he starts walking to Garadain's camp. Then he gets ambushed by 8 mobs (4 orcs + 4 giants.) I watched as a full group of level 60s did it with ease. They were: 1 ranger, 2 warriors, 1 enchanter, 1 cleric, and 1 druid. The enchanter mezzed the 4 orcs. The ranger and druid each took a giant and snare kited them away. The 2 warriors dealt with the 2 other giants with the cleric healing them. They also buffed Corbin prior to the fight (you have to make him a pet first, then buff, then mem blur.)

Well, let me say this. To do this with no fear of losing a peep, you'll need 2 enchs and 2 healers, plus tanks. One MOB (Commander and 2 orcs) come from the left and ahead of Corbin. Second MOB (1 orc and 2 giants) comes from the right and ahead of Corbin. Last MOB (1 orc and 2 gaints) comes from the far right. You need to make sure each group takes out a certain MOB. The Orcs can be mezzed, but the Giants cant. Enchs can charm 2 giants and beat up on the Commander to keep him busy. But watch out when the charm breaks. Thus the tanks need to kill the other 2 giants quickly before the charms break. Then concentrate on the Commander. Enchs will have to restore there mezzes. Watch out for Corbin he'll attack as well which can break mez. One group will have a very hard time with this part of the quest. Believe me, I need to spawn the Warden again.

I'm guessing that Corbin needs to reach the loc in front of Dobbin, and isn't really going TO Dobbin, but what may work, is have a monk pull Corbin around the mess of giants and orcs to Dobbin, being that they too are also probably heading to a set loc, and not really chasing after Corbin till they get within agro range.. now if they spawn in agro range that would be trouble,
could be wrong, but I may try it when I get up to this ring, since you really lose nothing but the shackel key if you fail, and the warden isn't too hard to kill

hmm another idea, have someone charm him right after you start, sow him, break charm, mem blur, and hope him moving faster helps a bit :)

This works well, although there's a catch. Have any class that can Feign Death follow Corbin closely. You must wait until the giants and orcs spawn, and then agro Corbin and run him away towards the destination (east) out of agro range of the charging orcs and giants. (If you try to do this before the giants and orcs spawn, it won't work; Corbin will walk back to the spot after you Feign Death, and then the giants and orcs will spawn.) Once you have Corbin out of danger, Feign Death and Corbin will walk the rest of the way to the dwarf huts and you can complete the quest.

be careful is a trap , when you attack warden 3 other giants pop infront of him the 4 of them canot be snared or rooted by a 60 druid and a 60 shaman cant land spells on them , you will need a large meelee force to do this next part

Yup, What I did was I got DMF.. Walked up on top of the ruin that Warden Bruke spawned in & shot him with an arrow. Then I ran behind the ruin to pull him solo there.

Once you attack him 4 38th level guards will spawn in front of the ruin, stand around for 5 seconds.. then walk inside.. if you get Bruke out of the way fast enough they wont follow.
