First off the box, once combined, becomes NO RENT so make sure you are ready to turn it in BEFORE you combine it!
Second off, do this quest together with all your friends! Everyone get toes and turn in their 4 then one guy get the box and combine 10 heads and turn that in with their shawl 1 and you *get the box back* but do not need it for anything else. What you can now do is give it to Loremaster Borannin and then have the next guy turn in just his shawl 1 and he gets his second shawl also along with the box back to repeat again! You could get shawl 2 for anyone who has shawl 1 for as long as someone has the norent box of heads!

I intend to win this year and I will upgrade your prayer shawl for assisting me. Fill this box with ten Kromrif heads and bring me the combined contents along with the burlap shawl. I will submit the best one for the Dains consideration. He then gives you a Preservationists Box. Fill the box with 10 Kromrif Heads and hit combine to make a box of Preserved Kromrif Heads. Then give Borannin Preserved Kromrif Heads box along with Burlap Coldain Prayer Shawl. Loremaster Borannin says 'Ahh, some fine specimens indeed, Devastation. I will have the best of these mounted at once, wish me luck in the contest! Before I forget, here is the Cloth Prayer Shawl of our people. It took me a while to figure out why I couldn't get the box. After some playing around my friend and I found out to talk to the loremaster you MUST NOT.... I repeat MUST NOT .... TARGET him. If you do he only tells you to sit down.

OMG Thank you so much for your post!!! I tried just last night to turn in the toes. I ended up giving him the toes without talking to him, because all he would stay is please sit and listen to the historian:( I even did the dumbest thing imaginable and got my self killed while trying to get him to give me the 2nd quest. (I accidentaly hit attack) I have searched all over trying to figure out if my faction was not high enough or something. I can't wait to get on and try again. Thanks So much!!!!

I cant get the box from him to start the 2nd shawl at indifferently. I couldnt get him to talk to me for the 1st shawl but I just gave him the toes and got the 1st shawl.

You can start the first prayer shawl (burlap) by giving Loremaster Bronnin four giant toes even if you are dubious. I did yesterday.

The box you put the heads in is Lore and No Drop, however once you have hit combine it becomes NO RENT. Don't make the same mistake as me, hand it in straight away. Unless of course you want to collect 10 heads twice.

bah don't listen to the guy bellow me, i got to 135 in 45 minutes with less than 40pp at 60 charisma, just buy about 40 stacks of batwings at around 2gp a stack and 40 stacks of fish around 7gp a stack and combine 1 bat wing to one fish :) just make sure you have a lot of bag room hehe

Velium Vial: 3 Crystalline Silk, 1 Small Brick of Velium, and 2 Glass Shard combine on a Pottery Wheel. Take result and 1 High Quality Firing Sheet combine in a Kiln
Step 3 Create Vial of Velium Vapors
Find Frundle and ask her “what velium vapors?”, she will give you a 4 slot container called, Velium Purifier.
Vial of Velium Vapors: 1 Velium Vial and 2 Small Piece of Velium combine in the Velium Purifer.
Step 4 Find Tanik Greskil
Find Tanik Greskil in Eastern Wastes and give him the Vial of Velium Vapors, he will give you a Letter.
Step 5 Claim the Shawl
Find Loremaster Borannin and give him the Letter and your Woven Shawl, he will give you a Fur Lined Coldain Prayer Shawl.

The message, “over a pile of snow exposing a Coldain!” will appear in your chat window when you’ve found him. He will be on his side a short distance away. He can be located while invisible. You must step directly on one of the above mentioned locs. I hailed him, but he didn’t respond and conned indifferent. He conned Amiable after I cast Benevolence on him but didn’t respond to my hails. I gave him the Vail of Velium and he disappeared, but I had the Letter in my inventory.

That was a very good rundown of the first four shawls. However, the fifth through eighth are available now. The fifth through seventh are posted on eqtraders at the website eqtraders.com/quests/<fifth, sixth, etc.>.htm. I am sure that the eighth will be posted as soon as information on it is discovered. I just completed the third part of the quest and have Thoridain's seal and the woven prayer shawl. I asked Boranin what the council was brewing and got what appears to be the fourth part of the quest. I haven't started it yet, but here is the log of what he says.

Look under "Saving Tanik" in the Thurgadin quests list to find out what to do for this fourth part of the quest. And get your pottery to master level.

Whew, now there was a very cool quest! I’d suggest having a bit of smithing, pottery and baking in you before starting this one. I happened to be a master in all three so this one was done in one afternoon. (Hardest part were snow griffin hunting) Should you have any questions, corrections or comments do let me know so I can right my notes. I did get a bit late. ~grin~

I made today the last meal with the griff eggs. I think I was rather lucky, cause I got one egg from every second griff, but a friend of mine just got one in 2 1/2 hours.
Well, full happiness, that I finally get this seal, I hit the combine button with the spice and the 4 eggs in the oven and, wohoo, I lacked the skill. This griffin souffle is said to be trivial at 127. Well I can't confirm that, because I just tried it once, and I don't think that there comes a trivial message when ya fail the skill. (got a Baking Skill of 130).
Just remind always, that you also can fail although its trivial. This kinda disappointet me, because its not that easy to solo these griffs with 45 (to kill them is easy, but I had frequently adds), but well I'll get over it and tomorrow I bash those griffs again. Till I see eggs spawning on the ground, because they know they wont live long when they carry an egg.

The Pottery Pie tin is MUCH easier to craft, and all the required items are available in Thurgadin right near the bank

I finally gathered my last snow griffin egg, and have made all the recepies. Now I just have one problem. Mordin is missing!
I had a guide look earlier today, and he couldn't find him either. I was told he would have a GM take care of it. Several hours later, still no Mordin.
I talked to another GM in CHAT. He eventually told me that Mordin was on vacation until next patch. And from what I remember, there wont be another patch for some time.

He's been missing on Bristlebane for a few days as well. Someone told me the GM's came in and de-popped him, but that's just a rumour so I can't say for sure when he went.

Try this again. He's back. They had the zone done for about 15mins today for a quick patch.
The third shawl quest picks up where the second one left off. If you have completed the second quest and have the shawl, ask Borannin "What chore?" and he will start you on the third quest.

Get a Tundra Kodiak meat, put it in oven with sauce and make "Saucy Kodiak Meat" (name?). Put your creation in a mixing bowl with one loaf of bread, which Mordin sells, and combine. If your skill is high enough you get the sandwich. Turn this in to Guard Leif with the napkin and get a "Used Napkin" back. It is also No Drop.
Give the used napkin to Mordin and get the next part of the quest. He needs you to make some Snow Bunny Stew for Trita Coldheart (name?). You get "Trita's Napkin" (No Drop).

The tough part here is finding a mixing bowl. I searched several cities including Thurgadin for a mixing bowl or even a mixing bowl sketch or mold. I finally found one in a shop in North Freeport near the bank. I don't recall the shop name though :(
Once you mix the ingredients in the bowl and get your "Saucy Rabbit"(name?) you put that, one spice, 2 flasks of water and a pot into the oven to make the stew. The pot can be made with the smithing skill, and maybe even pottery, although I hadn't worked on that at this point.
I gave the stew to Trita with the Napkin and received a dirty pot in return. I gave that back to Mordin and was given the next part of the quest.
Next you need to createan Ulthork Meat Pie for Brita. You receive Brita's napkin, No Drop.

This requires 2 Ulthork meat, and the problem here is that if you're not careful you will eat the meat. Most of the items you need to collect or make are edible. I know the kodiak meat and bunny meat do not get eaten, but everything else seems to disappear if not below your food in your inventory. I could not find any snake eggs in Thurgadin for the clump of dough, so I ported to Misty Thicket to get them.
The pie tin is another stumbling block here unless you are good at smithing and pottery, or you have a friend who is. To smith the Pie Tin you first need to make a ceramic lining, so your pottery has to be trained somewhat. I had relatively good success with a 25 pottery, whereas my smithing is in the low 100's and I don't think the pie tin is trivial to me yet. Luckily the pie tin, and the pot in the previous step, are regular items that anyone can craft and give to you if you lack the proper skills.
Turn the pie and the napkin in to Loremaster Brita in the back of the Library and receive a dirty pie tin which you take back to Mordin for the final step in this quest.
The final task is to create a Snow Griffin Souffle. The person you are making this for is none other than the Grand Historian Thoridain himself, so it has to be made well. I have worked my baking up to 115, and I don't remember the souffle being trivial to me.

So now you need 4 Griffin eggs. I had never seen any drop up to this point, but I haven't killed alot of Griffs either. I set out and with a little help was able to get 4 eggs to drop in about 3 hours. It would have gone faster, but I had trouble finding the Griffins. All in all I'd say we got the 4 eggs in about 12 - 15 Griffins, maybe even less.
Once you've made the souffle turn it in to Grand Historian Thoridain with the napkin. Here I learned something useful. I forgot to turn in the napkin when I turned in the souffle. In my excitement in creating the souffle I had completely forgotten. I was about to petition that he had eaten my item when I realized the forgotten napkin, so I gave him the napkin and to my suprise it worked.

He gives you his Seal to give to Borannin with your second Prayer Shawl. Now here is the toughest part of the quest. I looked at theSeal thinking it would be some no stat item, to my suprise I found it is an incredibly nice item, I think better than the Frozen Orb everyone is farming in the Eastern Wastes. Stats are AC 3, Wis +3, Int +3, SvCold +3, Sv Magic +3 and Mana +30. I hesitated for a moment, but finally turned it and my Prayer Shawl in to Borannin thinking I could do the quest again to that point to get the Seal.

This is the best part of the quest. I looked at my inventory to check out the stats on the shawl. It is as expected, one better on each stat over the second one, just like the ring quests. What shocked me, however, is that along with the third shawl I also received back from Borannin the Seal of Thoridain. So with this third quest we get two items. The shawl, which has not quite reached the level that I would switch it out for what I have on, and the Seal which is an incredible nice item.
He alludes to the fourth quest in this series, but when questioned about it says there will soon be much to do.

Unfortunately I did some of the quest on a different computer, so I did not have all of the log entries to include with the correct names of some items and what some of the NPC's say. All of the steps are here, anything missed is just dialog.

One last note...I did this whole third quest without an open inventory slot, since I had to carry around a mixing bowl. So you don't have to worry about not getting an item from one of the NPC's if all of your slots are filled, anything they give you, including the shawl and the seal, fit in your backpacks.

One last note...I did this whole third quest without an open inventory slot, since I had to carry around a mixing bowl. So you don't have to worry about not getting an item from one of the NPC's if all of your slots are filled, anything they give you, including the shawl and the seal, fit in your backpacks.

Well, I finished the 3rd Coldain Prayer Shawl Quest, many thanks to all who helped in this rather frustrating and nerve wracking quest. Here is a good copy from my logs. some of the item names may be slightly off, but not by a ton. I wouldnt delve much into this quest with less than 100 Baking (and even then some things wont be trivial)

This is a pain to make. not so much due to the item's difficulty, but the quantity of the eggs and the rarity of them. not to mention Snow Griffin's really really hurt. Make the Souffle and give it along with the napkin to Grand Historian Thoridain, in the assembly hall.
