This quest begins with Sentry Kale at location 830, -435, 43, in Skyshrine.
You say, 'Hail, Sentry Kale' Sentry Kale says 'Another Halfling, in the great shrine? Perhaps the times have gotten worse than we had expected -- I wonder if I will need to reactivate my [sentinel] for further use in my stead.' You say, 'What sentinel?' Sentry Kale says 'It was not too long ago that I was merely a chunk of walking velium in the eyes of most who traveled through the shrine. However that golem was in fact one of my sentinels used to keep my identity secluded, and took on the tasks that I gave it. However, there has been a problem recently with our supplies, and I have had to take it offline until further notice.' You say, 'What problem?' Sentry Kale says 'As you may have noticed, there are a great deal of golems and gargoyles within the shrine that consist of velium. These are our guards and they serve us well, however with extended use of these creatures comes extensive repair needed. It is because of this necessity to keep our sentries and lookouts working well that we require a great deal of velium ore stocked and ready for use. Unfortunately, our supplies have been running thin and we are in need of a new shipment of ore.' You say, 'I will deliver the supplies.' Sentry Kale says 'I may have been wrong in my initial thoughts about your race, Halfling. You may just prove to be worth my time. Take this note now and find Ungdin. Please hurry and remember to keep this information to yourself.' Sentry Kale will hand you a Velium Delivery Note, which you are to take to a Coldain dwarf named Ungdin in Thurgadin. He is located at 150, -23, -6.25. (Go into the mines and take the center tunnel. Continue in that tunnel until you come to the next fork of three tunnels. Take the one on your right. He is at the end of that tunnel. There's a table and bench in the room with him.) Ungdin says 'Hmmm, not sure why you're giving me all this. <cough> 50 pieces <cough> of platinum <cough> Whew, wow, I may be coming down with <cough> and the note <cough> something.' Give him 50 pp. Ungdin's eyes dart about the room before retrieving a large box from under the table. He takes the platinum and the note, then hands you the box without a word. You will have "A shipment of Velium Ore" in your inventory. Take that back to Sentry Kale in Skyshrine and he will say the following: Sentry Kale says 'You've returned, and with the shipment of ore intact! It was wise to send you out on that mission, ______, and I'm glad you did not fail. If you're looking for more assignments to do, I may have something that is just right for you. If you're interested in it, just let me know and we'll talk.' Your faction standing with Claws of Veeshan got better. Your faction standing with Yelinak got better. Your faction standing with Kromzek got worse. You gain experience!! You receive 7 copper from Sentry Kale. You receive 6 silver from Sentry Kale. You receive 10 gold from Sentry Kale. You receive 4 platinum from Sentry Kale. Platinum reward will vary. You may not get the Bracer of Hammerfal each time and it won't tell if you get one, you'll need to check your inventory if you do get one, but he will finally give you one. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Do you go from dubious to apprehensive?
I am still dubious after doing the quest twice. Given the cost of doing this quest I will be going back to killing giants in EW and Kael to raise my faction now that I have my bracer. I get some loot from that as well as solid XP and it doesn't cost me anything but time.
2 totally seperate things here. Killing Giants do not give Yelinak faction

I have killed this guy 2 times with another character can can NOT get him to spawn with anything but the leg quest. I have tried talking to him as Dubious, Apprehensive, and Indif with 3 different characters and still no damn luck...any one have any suggestions? Or perhaps it is just bad luck?

Ok here goes. Sentry Kale spawns in the room with the bakers/cooks and the like. It located if you take the first left, go up the stairs, go left again, then keep down the hall till you turn right into the cook room. Kale is always there. Every time he spawns he gives out 1 of 3 quests, but the Hammerfall is the most common. Hail him and he will give you text about why and who are you and stuff. to trigger any of the three quests you tell him "I am willing" and he will give out the quest text. Youll be able to tell which is the Velium shipment quest cause he gives you a note and tell you to give it plus 50pp(not gold! and dont give him 500gp) to a dorf in the caves area of Thurgadin. At the ent to caves there are 3 choices, right,strait,left. Take the Strait ramp up and take the first left at the next crossway. Youll need to duck under a low rock and jump down and there he is, just give the note and PP to Ungdin and he will say a silly text mssg and give you the box of Velium. MAKE SURE you have an open inventory slot as otherwise you will have wasted a bunch of time and 50pp. Take the box back to Kale and he will reward you with faction, a teeny bit of XP, and sometimes a bracer. I suppose it depends on faction to whether or not he is more often to give the bracer. I still have not gotten it yet after 3 tries but my druid friend who ported me around and did the quest with me got it on his third. If he insults you and doesnt give the quest, any ranger/bard/rogue/monk can sneak behind him and con indiff to attain the quest. Good luck and thanks for listen to me ramble ;)

I did this with my 21st Woodelf bard. Just sing the Carrilion song and changed faction to dubious with that.
I did the quest, it wasn't until after I logged back on and checked inventory that I noticed I had a nifty new bracer. I was quite happy with the reward for the little plat invested.
The previous guys name I had looked all up and down CC and Thurgadin for him. Someone told me the name was really the guy in Thurgadin in that pit. As I had thourouly explored there, I knew about him and found him again. Gave note and coin and sure enough got the box in return.
Make sure you have an empty slot when you give Box to Kale, as that is where the bracer was when I looked in my inventory. It wasn't handed onto my pointer.
I have no idea if I was just lucky to get it, or that as Neathon says you don't get it every time.

ya.. verant has some nerve... some quests give an item to your cursor, while others put it in your inventory.. and if it doesnt fit into your inventory.. POOF.. like if you put a no drop item in a trade window with an NPC by accident.. like a container.. with no iinventory slots open.. it will poof! I had to restart my epic quest because of that! andVerant say "sorry, bad I have bad new".... bleh... hadd restart it, and now i cant get anyone to help me kill the mobs that needs groups =(

Sentry Kale gives out 3 quests this being one of them. He wants you to help him to locate a spy within skyshrine. He gives you note for you to hand it to a giant informant inside Kael. You need to hand him the note and 100pp to get a dispelling device which you give it to sentry Rotiarc upon which his illusion will be dispelled.
He is lv 53 (when I fought him) giant and magic DOES NOT work unless you are right next to him. To be on the safe side you'll need a full group of 50+. Once you kill him, he'll drop spy report which you need to give to sentry Kale. As a reward you get dragontooth choker.
ac8, str5, 30hp, resist fire 10/cold 5/mg 5/poison 5. Weight 0.0
All tanking class can equip it including rogue and mnk. and all race.
head/neck slot.

All kayle says to me is something about a spider. He wants 4 spiders legs of a crystal one who spawns in the fountain or something.

Quest can be done in 20 minutes or less.
It summons 20 hammers. Each hammer wieghts 1 stone. So, 20 stones for total wieght.
Ver easy quest to do if you have a tooth to teleport to Cobalt Scars, because after you get the quest, teleport to Great Divide, run to the mines. Do that part of the quest, teleport to CS and run to the tower and gate into Skyshrine.
No time at all.
But I would keep one person at Skyshrine to watch Kale. People kill him, to get another quest.
After we did the quest, we went to throw some hammers. My skill went from 1 to 20 and my ranger friend went from 1 to 7. We rooted a giant and just throw hammers. I throgh about 140 hammers.

Each time Sentry Kayle spawns, he has a chance of giving out one of 3 quests. The spider leg one (which i think is kinda fun to do) the velium one, and one other, which actually requires higher than dubious faction to do. But no matter what quest he gives you when spawned, he will always accept any items for any of his 3 quests.

I find that if I ask nicely that the people using the zone as a Dungeon will happily take him out for me.
I even had a pair of people take out Ziglark for me so I could loot the shrine key needed to get out to Cobalt Scar. I thanked them profusely because it saved me from having to perform a dangeous quest in Kael.

ummm... I had done the Velium ore shipment quest 3 times before.
Today I tried to do it again.. I handed him the ore and nothing happened. Aftwards I hailed him and he was handing out the spiderleg quest.
So... leads me to believe you Cannot complete the quests until he spawns again and is doing one you want to finish.

Yeah, he disses me right now so must be a higher quest one. I really want to do the velium shipment one for the wrist thingie.

He probably didn't give me any quest at all since I was dubious (I've forgotten--it's been a while), but I followed the instructions anyway, and got the bracer on my 5th try.
The bracer totally useless to me, but I don't care, as a druid I've never had anything to throw before. :)

Okay, it seems my Yelinak faction isn't high enough to do any of these quests.. Helmet's, Key, or Bracer. Anyone have an idea of where I can raise it other than the quests themselves? (They attack all the chars I've tried so far)

Its your ClawsofVeeshan faction that is too low. You need to keep killing Giants until you are Dubious with Sentry Kcor at the front gate, then you can wander (almost) freely in Skyshrine and do all the quests you want.

I don't think you can do "all" the quests at Dubious faction.

I want to be able to do this quest, but need to fix factions in Skyshrine before doing so.
Any suggestions for increasing "ClawsofVeeshan" and Yelinak factions? I'm guessing that just killing Giants might do the trick, but am interested if anyone else has comments on the best way to do this. Thanks!

I really want to do this quest also, but I am thretening to the sentries and need to raise the faction quick, I am a lvl 41 druid, any suggestions as to how I can do this quickly? thanks

If you are a druid or wizzie who is able to quad kite, the easiest, fastest way to build faction with COV that I found was to go to GD, quad kite Drakkel Dire Wolves, I did this from lvl 37-40 and am now indifferent with the Claws Of Veeshan. The only other faction adjustments for COV that I would have had was in a group for 2 bubs of exp at the Giant Fort in GD.

I am very interested in quading Drakkel Dire Wolves. Perhaps you can offer some advice?
From what area do you pull them, and in what area did you kite them? There are a lot of wanderers near the zone to EW (where I see most of the wolves), and I'm concerned that adding a Giant will be all too common.

kill Giants and mercenaries in Wakening Lands and Kael. Mercenaries are only found in Wakening Lands though, and they're of various races (tier`dal, human, etc).
Giants in Kael give good faction too, especially the Kromzek (the ones with SHORT beards and without the long hair). One of those is worth three of the others but careful--they're a lot tougher too.

Not too bad a bracer if wisdom gets maxed out and one or both mitheral bracers are not needed.
Course once the Planes <ohh FEAR> become available, well all bets are off...then this item will most likely become more a nusiance for taking an inventory slot away :-)

I've looked everywhere for the dwarf you're supposed to give this to (Danus Froshan), and I can't seem to find him. Any info on his location would be appreciated

Can't remember this one's name (it's a single name) but as you enter the ThurgadinA mines, take the straight path (middle one), then a right at the 2nd intersection. Follow that to the end and there is a dwarf in a little pit. When hailed, he says he's mining for the Dain. Give him the coin and note, and he slips you the velium shipment (I think you need open inventory slot for this). Not sure if this will change in the future to have the quest lead to the right guy, but this is how it's working as of this date.
When Ungdin hands you the shipment it will fit into either an open general inventory slot, or an open slot in a large sewing kit. It will not fit into a slot in a tailored 10 slot backpack, which indicates that it is one of those VERY large items that is not, however, classified as a container.
I do not know what happens if you do not have an appropriately sized slot available for the shipment when he tries to hand it to you.

He is in the top part of the mines, past a rockfall you have to squeeze past.
IIRC, it's staright ahead from the mine entrance, then the tunnel on the right when you get to the junction at the top.

That is all true. He's down in a little pit at the end of a passage. There is a ladder to get back out of the pit.
As I sit here and think about it, ogres, trolls and barbarians might need need a shrink to get by the rock fall. As a halfling I don't need to worry about that, though. I just run past it at full speed.

It WAS actually, but not after the patch, I checked again today, and hadn't since the last patch. I guess pre-patch it was pointing to the wrong (And non existant) guy, Danus Froshan. Since the patch though, Sentry Kale says Ungdin, instead of Danus. And I yup, I got the rest of the quest to work fine

The first time I did the quest I received only faction and coins, but the second time I did receive the bracer. I have no idea if a 50% success ratio is going to be the norm, however, or if I was just fabulously lucky to get one that quickly. At 50pp a shot I doubt I will try to find out by repeating the quest multiple times, especially since the item received is nodrop. We'll have to see what other people report.

Okay ... I decided to see if I could get another for my other wrist because they are an upgrade to the PBBs I was wearing. Got on on my first try so now I'm 2 for 3. Not bad.
