Jaled Dar`s shade may be found at +1590, -120. The simple way to get into Jaled Dar's lair is to have a rogue with a 210+ skill in lockpicking to open the door. If simplicity isn't your thing, or you just want the key for yourself, you can obtain it one of two ways: Either a quest offered by Zlandicar or a quest offered by Neb.

Once you've found your way into the lair:


You say, 'Hail, Jaled Dar`s shade'

Jaled Dar`s shade says 'Mortal! You MUST aid me. I will have my revenge, and my rest!'

You say, 'How can I aid you?'

Jaled Dar`s shade says 'You must wake The Sleeper. He is our salvation, he will restore a new golden age to Norrath. It was a terrible mistake to subdue him, jealousy and envy led us to do it. I see all of this clearly now.'

You say, 'Who is The Sleeper?'

Jaled Dar`s shade says 'Kerafyrm, the best of us, what we should be. We imprisoned him in a timeless slumber aeons ago. I know how to release him, but I am no longer of the flesh, so I cannot do it myself. But you can accomplish this task!'

You say, 'What task?'

Jaled Dar`s shade says 'When the tomb was closed and the entry sealed, many dragons participated in the ceremony. They invested portions of their essence into the seal. The seal is part of them now. With the right talismans, I can show you how to make a key that will allow one to pass, as if they were of the First Brood. If you do not wish to do this for the good of all, perhaps you will be willing to do it for material riches. Priceless treasures are stored in the tomb, yours for the taking, once you are inside and have released The Sleeper.'

You say, 'What talismans?'

Jaled Dar`s shade says 'Sontalak, Lendiniara, Klandicar, Yelinak, and Zlandicar are all that are left alive of those who were involved in the sealing of the tomb. Each has a talisman. Bring me any one of these items, or a large enough piece from one of the talismans from a dead first brood, and I shall unlock its power, which will allow you entry into the tomb.'

You'll need to give him either a talisman from any of the five dragons of the first brood mentioned or a Shard of Hsagra's Talisman, which is dropped uncommonly from top giants (King Tormax, Derakor the Vindicator, The Statue of Rallos Zek, Velketor the Sorcerer).

Jaled Dar`s shade says 'Very well done. Here is how you unlock the entry. Seek out a great dragon statue in the Eastern Wastes, and use this key there. Not very different from how you entered my old domain, Veeshan's Peak, now, is it? Haha, yes, I know many things, even dead.'

Did this quest solo 75 necro for the fun of it.
1. Use ""AON"" or similar to get throught door without rogue or key (can shrink skell form and camp as close to the door as possible and use whisper wind to by pass door.
2. Use growth potion or similar to get up on platform to give item.

I am ALLY to COV so not sure if can be done with sneak or ...

Fun but took hours to get dragon faction

i went thru the script only for him to despawn when he was done with his monologue & before i could do turn-in. trying to camp out to see if that spawns him... nope. that didn't work. just gonna camp my toon there & hope he spawns for turn-in before guild raid in a couple of nights.

ok, this had to be one of the most helpfull, and vague posts i had ever read. That being said, thank you sooo much Dilxar, it worked, took me an hour to find it, but i did finally, and got my key.

To Clarity, go around the back of his building, climb the rocks and lev onto the roof, now, as you were walking around the outside of the building you would see pillers in the wall, those are your ticket in. i use the piller closest to the rocks i used to get up, get up next to it, and look strait down, note that you can float down the 'triangle' shaped vent....

Today I did the turn in for my ST key. I am a level 51 rogue with 202 pick lock skill. I wore the Cheirometric Lockpick Device which brings my skill to 208 pick lock and with Mechanized Lockpicks my skill was at 212. That was enough at level 51 for me to pick the lock.

So mods, as long as they push your skill to 211 or above, will open the door.

You NEED a 3% lockpick modifier. The 2% does NOT work. My skill was 210 and it did not open w/ mechanized lockpicks (2%). Also DO NOT be in any kind of illusion other then your true form as you will be wacked by the Shade quick. This may have been fixed recently but why take a chance! BTW the best way I have found besides using a "grow" potion, is to have SoE or Levi on then run and stand on top of a pot in front of the door down aways.- Then when rogue opens the door u haul **** inside and you can "float" to the step right near Shade and hail him for the turn in. Hope the info helps!

Ok just spent a good 45min trying to "lev in front a vent up top" and now I can see how typos can cause someone to waste a lot of time looking for something. First off it should say 'from' not 'front'. Secondly, the 'vent' that is refered to is at the top of each pillar of the building. Yes I realize you have to get on top of the building first...so...use the rocks out back (with lev on) to get up. This is trial and error but is doable. There are no mobs close enough to agro so don't worry if invis drops.

Hope this helps some of you out there.

For the people who keep saying a rogue cannot unlock the door anymore - quite simply, you are wrong. With 210 skill AND a mechanized lockpick, the door opens easily. That's as of 2-23-05. So quit trying to convince people otherwise.

ok were you just being stupid or did you not read hisher post?? Look at what was said. It takes at least a 210 unmodified lockpicking AND mechanical lockpicks (wich would raise your lockpicking quite a bit) in order to open it.....no a modified total of 210.

A while back on Morden Rasp i got my ST key. As of 1/25/05 i took a rogue guildie (with max picklock + lockpick) to DN. We took a full group with us to kill for fun, although NO mob between zone in and the shade's building sees invis that i ran into. NOTE : Do not walk into the bones or you will spawn plenty of fast hitting and stunning enemies. Walk into the building in middle of the zone (the shade's residence) and go all the way down the winding halls till you reach a locked door. HAve it opened by rogue (or by doing quests) and enter. The stairs to him were high, and lev did not do the trick for me (human). I got a Spirit of the shrew, and jumped up to stair number 2 (took a few tries at different angles, but nothing too hard). From here you can either jump up again, or do the turn in from that step. Hand in your shard/talisman and your set with a ''sleepers key''.

Also note, that The turn in mob was indifferent to everyone in my group, including myself (dubious CoV, kos RoS).

Rogue pick lock caps at 210. Before 50 at 200, but goes up 2 points or so each level until 210. So with a mech, the tinkered gloves, gloves of the brood etc it is easy to unlock.

No you dont need to do the quest, I just visited hes house, and had a rogue pick the locks just fine, make sure the rogue has maxed hes lockpick, and has a geerlok or some form of +% to picklocks...

The pieces that will yield a Sleeper's tomb key are as follows

A talisman from any of these 5 dragons:Zlandicar(Dragon Necropolis), Klandicar(Western Wastes), Yelinak(Shyshrine), Sontalak(Western Wastes), Lendiara the Keeper(West Wing Temple of Veeshan)

a shard of Hsagra's Talisman from any of these mobs:
King Tormax (Kael Drakkal), Derakor the Vindicator (Kael Drakkal), Statue of Rallos Zek (Kael Drakkal), Velketor the Sorcerer (Velketor's Labrinyth)

The Idol of Rallos Zek DOES NOT have a chance to drop the shard, it drops nothing, and I ave never witneseed a drop from the Avatar of War, I don't believe he drops it.

You can have a rogue with 210 skill and 2% mod for at least 214 total skill pick Jaled'dar's door, or you can kill vaniki and zland, and take both of their hearts to Neb for a key to his lair, alternatively, you can kill Neb adn take his head to Zlandicar, keep in mind both of those turn ins take faction.

I don't believe any faction is needed for the talisman/shard turn in for the Sleeper's Key.

they must've changed this in one of the recent patches because i could not pick the lock. a guildie asked me to come out to Dragon Necrop so he could do the turn in and after 100ish attempts and they same message "this lock cannot be picked" we left.

i play a 70 rogue, picklock maxed at 210 btw

Without lockpicks:

With max skill (210) and regular lockpicks:
"This lock cannot be picked."

With max skill and 2% mechanized lockpicks (214):
"You successfully picked the lock."

I tried to do the key turn-in today and failed because our rogue (207 lockpick skill +3 % modifier) was told the lock was unpickable. Has the door changed, or does this require a true 210 lockpick skill?

It would have worked if the rogue had 208 skill and the 3% modifier. The modified skill needed to open this door is 214. This can be done with 210 skill and 2% modifier (mechanized lockpicks). At 207 and 3% modifier, the modifed skill is only 213. Get skill up to 208, and the 3% modifier will be enough to open the door.

FYI for the newb that said the sleeper can't be killed......The Sleeper HAS been killed on two servers and will NEVER be seen again there. He does NOT respawn EVER after he's been killed. Not sure what the other server is but I know that he has died on Bertoxulous. To bad really that he's gone on my server i would have liked to have been in on that kill. I did listen to the battle on chat channel and it took approx. 3 hours to kill him with 127 toons fighting him. From what i was told he has approx. 4000 or 5000 K (that's right K) Hp with around a 1500 per tick regen!! The raid that killed him had somewhere in the range of 70 rangers doing the dps along with countless Wizzy's with the tanks keeping him buzy while the clerics rezzed and buffed the fallen for over 3 hours! What an epic battle to have been a part of.

Your partially wrong. The sleeper was never killed on Bertoxulous, awoken yes, but not killed. He has only been killed on Rallos Zek and (I believe) that japanese server (the one that uses kunark gear).

While both are amazing accomplishments, I still think the RZ one is the better of the 2 since that sleeper was the upgraded one. To top it off, it is a pvp server and the GM stopped it the first time (when it was at 20%). The second time, they killed it but for all the effort, it dropped nothing.

The sleeper is dead on Xegony, was killed 2 day afet the RZ kill, and the japaneses server kill was 1 day after RZ kill, I saw screenshots of the japanesse kill, and the RZ kill, and I was online on xegony when sleeper was killed.

No you weren't... Inner Circle on Xegony woke the Sleeper in late '02/Early '03... he was not killed on Xegony.

I have read in other places that you need all 5 Talisman's to get your key, but from what I have read here and from what the quests says above you only need any one Talisman or the shard.....not all of them.

This right? Just seeing conflicting informaton.

First question, no key needed to enter DN. Second, DN is located in one of the "scars" in Western Wastes. coming from SG, it's the first scar you'll come across. There are several columns with runes and lightning flickering between them. Click on one of the columns to enter.

Ok, once we get one of the talasmon, have a rogue with 210+ lock pick, and get into the lair, do we need to worry about agro and faction?

I got "Shard of Hsagra's Talisman" last night. Can I invis with a rogue, go have him pick the door and just enter and turn it in for the key; or, will mobs see through invis and attack us, etc.

Yep, I did exactly that, with no problems. Nothing on the route to Jaled Dar's room saw invis, although I did trigger some phase spiders on the way (they didn't see thru invis). Just make sure you don't step on any bones lying around as that will set off traps. The rogue needs 210+ skill and mechanized lockpicks (or the Chierometric Lockpick Tool).

All I have to say is that when I saw the stats on the Essence Mace I really had my heart set on it! But it seems like it would be almost as hard to get a darn Sleepers Key as My Epic....What does a broke Bard have to do to get a decent weapon? LOL

Need a rogue with 210 skill and mechanical lock picks to open the door to Jaled Dar's Shades lair.. we tested it the other night in DN (trust me, running too and froo the training guild and back to DN sucked) but 210 skill is needed. If you don't follow the quest to get the key.. Get faction up with one group, kill Neb (red to 62 Druid) and turn in his head for the key.

But your question, its a door not a portal, rogue/key holder keeps door open while people go in and out.

So... Once everyone has one of the Talisman's listed, if a Rogue with 210 and the mechanical lock pick opens the door to let everyone into Jaled's Lair... is there a certain faction that needs to be raised to do the hand-in? Or, is Jaled indifferent to all?

Would hate to get there and get smoked due to lack of research... =o)

Before the ST revamp if you killed all 4 warders then the sleeper would clear out several zones on npc's and pc's, make some messages to the whole server, and then despawn. At which point the warders themselves would no longer spawn.
So is it true?????

Those uber-guilds that unleased the Sleeper did not do it to make it harder for other guilds to get primal weapons. If anything, they made it easier. Now instead of getting 6 groups to get some Primal, you can take two groups in to get them. They don't drop as much now, but are more easily attained, stop complaining.

Anyway, back to the real reason of this post.

Zlandicar will ask you for a favor. That favor is kill NEB, Neb is the Paebla Leader of rats. Kill him to attain the key for the door to Jaled or Kill zlandicar and take his key to use for the door to Jaled. Possible killing for hours to attain + faction with Zlandicar to complete this.

Jaled accepts 5 tailsmans from the following dragons. Yelinak, Zlandi, Klandi, Lendi, Sonta

After you open the door simply put go up hail the guy. Say something along the line of where the **** is my phats and my key. Or for once read the text Jaled spouts off. Turn in your tailsman wala bada boom You got your sleeper key which is in eastern wastes.

Faction involved you need decent faction with zlandicar for the quest if you choose to kill neb, IE killing lots and lots of paebla.

Sheesh... over and over and over Waaaaa, such and such uber guild screwed my server. No kidding! I'm one of those who's guild is not the uber one that set the sleeper free, and although upset, don't you have better things to do with your time? If you are THAT bothered, ask for an application to asid guild so you can hop in for Vex Thal before they get there too.
Sadly it's part of the game, and I am glad that for once they didn't make him (sleeper) static in any way. Much like real life (as this game tries to depict) once something is dead, it's dead. I always thought this game was designed for the D&D generations who needed that extra step..... tell me how many times could you go to the same dungeon and keep killing the same mob over and over and over?
Roleplaying? Bah, tis like the bumper sticker "One with the most toys wins" if those guilds beating you out bothers you...join them or get better within your own ranks....

Sleeper has been gone off CT for ??? Just pushed us "2nd tier" guilds to push harder for other items.

Welcome to a slither of real roleplaying, where you can't get 100,000 FBSS's flooding the market. Because once dead, Frenzied won't repop where you wait for him.... babies

I agree with what you're saying overall, but you have outdone yourself here. If something is killed and that is it, then there would need to be an EXTREME increase in the amount of named mobs/drops to acommodate the ever growing EQ population. The idea of "real" roleplaying could not possibly apply in such a game as EQ. It is named EVERquest after all.

Yes it's true when all 4 warders are killed it spawns the sleeper. Then the 4 warders do not spawn anymore. Primal still drops off the Golems but at a lower drop rate then the warders. I play on the Karana Server the Sleeper has not been awoken. That's because we have a rotation with what we call the KGC.And people actually care about other people not just them selves.

btw, Sleeper on karana was awakened by some ex- uber-guildies who were PO'd at the KGC rotation.

Don't forget that when DAoC first came out THE uber guild of Karana at the time 'Almagase'(sp?) almost did wake the sleeper as a way of telling the KGC to ***** themselves just before the entire guild quit EQ and started playing DAoC.

People don't care about others as much as you think on Karana; they only have the fear of retibution.

His regen is not 100,000hp as some may say, though he does has over a billion hp. all the sk's had mastered there disciplines, which means there ht did well over 2000 dmg. all of the sk's timed it so ht's flew at the same time, dealing a calcualatable multi-dmg of 250,000+, some dealing 1000dmg, and others as much as 4000. after this, he still did not dt. and we attempted to nuke it. however the second we nuked, he dted. We have only raided once more after, and i shall tell u, we gathered all sk's and put as much sta on one as possible. we shouldve done it on a war, possibly better effects. the sk's base sta wuz 95, plus over 250 sta of equipment, he wuz packing an amazing possibly unrivably 22,388hp EXACTLY. after researching the DT of all zones, asking numerous GM's, and persnonally mailing verant, they have revealed that a DT only does 20,001 dmg. yes i said 20,00***1*** the things verant does. anyway, we went back in after much ****, we started the battle with a nuke, and guess wut? DT!!! and guess wut? the sk lived, and we errr... all died, however then he kicked the sk for 3,535dmg and he died, but the things we do yuhknow?, anyway sorry for the long post, but i hope its informative, and it shows that with about 4000sk's in a zone, and vernat uber buffing the zones capacity without a crash, we could kill the sleeper.... every wunder wut he drops? hehe that would kik ***:

Is it true that when you kill all four Warders that the Sleeper awakens, the Warder never spawn again, and after the Sleeper has done his wrath on all the connecting continents then despawns and doesn't spawn ever again? I've heard that in order to keep the Sleeper in slumber just kill three Warders of thr four and the rest will spawn again in succession an so forth....If it is true that they despawn and dont spawn again it would ruin the drop rate on primal significantly being they drop the primal like the Warspear, Claidmore, and Battle Axe as well as the Warsword which would benefit me being a Warrior and a Warrior only sword. Can someone confirm this because if it is true future EQ gamers that play on Povar (Triton) and Bertoxx (Prophecy) and any other server that plan to go to Sleepers Tomb are screwed because these warders also dropsome graet itmes that would then become exstinct. I wanted to know if you need ALL the talismans from the Dragons of the First Brood or just one. To kill five dragons for one person for one key seems like bulld**t but any help would be gratly appreciated. ;)
