You say, 'Hail, Garadain Glacierbane'

Garadain Glacierbane says 'Hrmff, what's this? A spy sent from the giant heathens, or the selfrighteous wurms perhaps? Either way, you'd be no [friend] of the great Coldain.'

You say, 'I am a friend.'

Garadain Glacierbane says 'A friend, you say? That remains to be seen. Much more to being a friend of the Coldain than just sayin' so. Anyway, I'm too [tired] to argue about it. I haven't slept in days.'

You say, 'Why are you tired?'

Garadain Glacierbane says 'Did I say tired? Exhausted is more like it. Ever since that blizzard last week I haven't slept a wink. I came back from huntin' snow orcs to find that my [blanket] had blown away and now I'm just too tired to rustle up a new one.'

You say, 'What blanket?'

Garadain Glacierbane says 'Not just any old blanket, mind ye, mine was made of the finest tundra kodiak hides and snow panther skins, two of each. When I was wrapped up in it ya couldn't see me a bit, no, I blended right into the snow, I did. Say, if you be a friend, here's yer chance to prove it. Sew me up a new blanket so I can get some rest.'

Garadain's blanket must be made from two High Quality Cougarskins (rare drops from A Snow Cougar) and two High Quality Tundra Kodiak Pelts (rare drops from A Tundra Kodiak). Tailor them together to craft a Coldain Hunting Blanket (trivial 66) and give this to Garadain.

Garadain Glacierbane says 'Ahh, that'll do fine. Take this, it is but a trinket for now, but continue to serve the Coldain and it will grow in power. I must get some rest now, for I have been told my [nephew] has disappeared again and I will need to track him down tomorrow.'
Your faction standing with Coldain could not possibly get any better.
Your faction standing with Dain Frostreaver IV got better.
Your faction standing with Kromzek got worse.
Your faction standing with Kromrif could not possibly get any worse.
You gain experience!!

The blanket is no drop

You cannot have a tailor make it for you. I found this out combining for someone else. My understanding though is that you can eventually multiquest at the third step to return the ring to the rightful owner.

they way you have someone else tailor for ya and still get the rings is like this....

tailor makes the blanket and get's the first ring, on the second ring you kill a rebid kodiak, the person who is geting the rings loots the pelt and get's the axe. then you come back and the tailor hands the first ring back, then the Ring person hands the axe. the axe completes the quest, and he get's teh second ring.

if u wanna raise ur skill fast buy a large sewing kit and a backpack full of patterns and take an empty backpack or too.
next go to EK kill spiders cats and keep makin silk swatches and tattered armour, silk armour till u run out of patterns this should easily get you to around 40 skill hopefully and if ur doing this questyou should be able to hunt EK

With a tailoring skill of 49 I succeeded twice and failed once on three attempts. The blanket was trivial at 49. Good luck fellow pelt suckers ;p

Hello All,

I've had the most horrable luck getting these pelts. The best/safest spot to hunt the bears seems to be near the base of the dragon bridge, but the problem is not in finding the bears: The drop rate on the pelts is HORRABLE. After three days of huntings, I got my 2 HQ Kitty & 2HQ kodiaks ... but I failed the combine w/ 34 (or 35) skill.
faction?

Anyone know how good your faction needs to be to start the quest?
thanks

This and the prayer shawl are two of the coolest quests in the entire game; They are involved and have a storyline, they take a commitment of time and energy, they require teamwork. You must find rare items under difficult situations in order to succeed and be able to continue down to road to obtaining an AMAZING item. Please don't call something dumb just because it is difficult or frustrating for you. Perhaps you should try again in a few levels. It is very true that you must be lucky indeed to find two kodiak hides in two hours. For me the most difficult part has been advancing my tailoring craft. What a difficult skill to master! And I must admit, I have found 5 kodiak pelts to 1 snow cougar. The irony of it, I suppose, I keep finding more Kodiaks while looking for Cougars
Good Luck to All with this wonderful and challenging quest. Verant is to be cheered for this one!
#Anonymous, Posted: May 15 2001 at 12:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I will pay 500pp to anyone who can find 2 HQ tundra pelts in 2 hours - been going like 12 and none so far.

Yet another dumb quest!

60 plus kodiaks (6 deaths to sowed mobs and LAG) and still no HQ pelts - another unthought out quest by verant where you have to be level innapropriate just to start this quest

" hey - lets put some level 25 mobs with rare loot for a quest item"

" Nah thats too easy - make it harder by adding some sowed level 35-40 mobs patrolling the area"

" Nah thats not tough enough - lets make them get TWO of the ultra rare drops"

" Hey - lets add some snow storms so they cant see **** ..."

" lets put lots of trees so they have to drop the clipping pane and not see the mobs"

" Yeah! and we can make it a low level quest item that leads on to a hi level quest item so all the higher levels can KS the lower levels ..."

"and lets make it need tailoring skill so the dumb schmucks can start all over again even if they have trivialled the skill"

"Hey man we ARE evil - we rock ..."

" Gee, I dont understand why everyone is a verant basher though ..."

I am a tailor of 90+ skill and a member of a well-known tradeskill guild on my server. Last night I had just logged on when I saw a /guildsay message asking for tailors who were on. I was the only one to speak up, and I then got a tell from a lvl 60 who asked me to make a no drop item. Turned out it was this quest. We then continued after this quest was complete to do the second in the series. At that point, my service was complete.

Being 24th level, this was a VERY interesting trip. And lucrative too. I was paid 1800 plat for my services, and got to go on a trip to Eastern Wastes to see the dorf walk around.

I don't know if it's worth it, but what the heck, *I* had a lot of fun.

Made blanket at a 36 skill
# Mar 20 2001 at 11:43 AM Rating: Default
I was able to make the blanket at a 36 skill. It did not say it was trivial but I was able to make it. I buffed my Wisdom to 195 with equip and enchanter buff.

-Lythalas
This IS trivial at 41 Skill.

I completed and got the you can no longer advance from this item message last night.

You are welcome to contact me on Rallos to confirm this.

I had an enchanter boost my wis/int first, then made the blanket on the first try. Here were my stats after buffing.

Wis 92
Int 113
Skill 31

Delvekion Ebonstar
Reaver, lvl 52
skill of 35

I made blanket on my first try with skill of 35. Not saying that this is high enough to do it safely, but it works at 35.
Trivial at 70

Tried again at 70, got trivial message, and suceeded!
Not trivial at 42

Failed at 42 :P
RE: Not trivial at 42
# Jan 22 2001 at 7:29 AM Rating: Default
Just because you fail it doesn't mean it's not trivial. If you fail a trivial skill it *won't* print the "you can no longer gain skill" message.

It's easily possible to fail a trivial skill.
you need skill

Yep.
I just had a tailor make it, and it's no drop. Too bad I didn't read here first. what a waste of time, it takes a lot of kods to get 2 HQ pelts.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 12 2001 at 6:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Are you serious!! I can't get a tailor to make this for me??
tailoring
# Dec 27 2000 at 8:44 PM Rating: Default
trivial at 42. but its a ****** to get tailoring that high
RE: tailoring
# Jan 03 2001 at 3:00 PM Rating: Default
are you sure it was trivial at 42? someone posted on another board that it's not trivial at 70.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 01 2001 at 6:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I trained tailoring to 15 and tried for the blanket. Made it on the first try. Maybe I was very lucky, but maybe not....
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 17 2001 at 1:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So be careful out there. I'm extremely pissed.
Failed at 21

Spent over 10 hours doing this part, finally with all the parts (had to buy HQ Tundra Kodiak skins 100pp each) I failed. Had killed over 35 tundra kodiaks no HQ pelts..
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 23 2000 at 10:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) can anyone post this ?

Garadain is at -2700, -400. Near the middle of the zone/crystal caves.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 20 2000 at 10:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) how high of a tailoring skill do you need for this?
Garadain's Blanket

This quest is but the beginning of a much larger and more involved quest. There are Coldain camps throughout Eastern Wastes and they all have something to do with this long quest.
