You say, 'Hail, Ami'

Ami flips through a few pages of a small book, reading intently before answering you. 'Ye scurvy dog. I'll strike yer colors 'fore ya can put me on a gibbet. Take that, ya crimp!' She flips through a few more pages then smiles at you. 'Arrrr!'

You say, 'Ye scurvy dog!'

Ami grins. 'Hey, that's pretty good. You did it without a book too. Nice to meet you. I'm the bosun here.'

You say, 'You're a Bosun?'

Ami says 'Yup. I think it means I'm in charge of the flag cause that's what the Cap'n told me to take care of. I'm the one who made our symbol, so I get to protect it. I even got my own copy of the grammar manual so I can practice my pirate speech.'

You say, 'What kind of grammar manual?'

Ami nods and shows you the book for a moment. 'We don't have many of them and usually we share. My book is missing a chapter, though.'

You say, 'What chapter is missing?'

Ami nods. 'A mate of mine borrowed the P Chapter to draw a map on but then he went and got himself lost. I've memorized the rest of the book but that chapter. Oh, well, I guess I can get by with what I have. Walk the mizenmast and batten down the boom!' She looks at you proudly. 'Good, eh? I'm one of the best pirates we have.'

Find the lost pirate at +6360, +1005.

You say, 'Hail, a lost pirate'

a lost pirate twitches and growls a little. 'Arrr. Grrr. Ahoy, mate. The name's Teep.' He shivers and you notice a little drool at the corner of his mouth. 'Ya ain't lost out here too, are ya?'

You say, 'I am not lost.'

a lost pirate grins and stares through you with a mad gleam in his eye. 'Hehehe. Yah, yer lost aren't ya. I can tell from the crazy sound o' yer voice. Too bad we ain't got me map. The map would lead us straight back ta camp. Yah, that it would, boyo.'

You say, 'What map?'

a lost pirate nods. 'After we got ourselves stuck on this island I got it in me head to draw up a map so none o' the crew would ever get lost. So I set myself to explorin' and drawin'. Now the map is gone. Too bad, too, cause it was a map o' the whole place, not just the first island, but a bunch o' parts.' Mention of the map seems to have sobered him up a bit.

You say, 'Gone?'

a lost pirate says 'Aye. I lost the first part walkin' through the woods. Some big wolf bowled me over 'n started to tear me book up. 'Fore I could stop, it he ran off. I'm not knowin' why. The second part, heh. That was worse.'

You say, 'What happened to the second part?'

a lost pirate shivers. 'The second piece I lost, well, that put the fear o' Bertox in me. I was still in the woods at the time. It was at night. Cold and crisp, it was. I heard a flappin' and squawkin' above me and I knew my time was near. So I up and jumped into a snow drift. Soon as that, somethin' swooped down where I was and started tearin' my camp up. When I came back, I saw nothin' but feathers and me torn up book. Another quarter o' me book was gone.'

You say, 'What happened to the third part?'

a lost pirate says 'Huh? Oh, the other pieces? I gave a piece to a mate o' mine 'cause he wanted to help. Nice enough fella but he couldn't find north from a hole in the hull. Last I saw he wandered off towards the bridge. The last piece went away after I stumbled and fell down here. After a while I didn't care, so I threw it in the water. It floated off. Seems like everythin' that goes wrong ta me is because of some danged wild animal. I can't quite figger it.'

You say, 'I will find the parts.'

a lost pirate laughs. 'Its yer funeral, boyo. I'm not even sure they're readable. Oh, well. Here, take this. It's the cover of the book I was puttin' the map in. If ya get the first four parts, put em in there. If ya get the fifth, just go give it ta Ami the way ya find it. Hey, if ya find em all, come get me so I can find me way back. I'm thinkin' I'd like ta go back now.'

You say, 'Where is chapter P?'

a lost pirate stares at the water. 'I'm rememberin' that. Yah. Ami's book. Thats what I drew, erm, the fifth part o'n. It got lost in the ocean too.' He looks at you. 'Yer wantin' ta go out and find all o' these pieces?'

You receive a Map Binding, a four-slot container. Find the four parts to the map:

1. The first piece of the map can be looted off of a Dire Wolf Stalker, a rare spawn in Iceclad Ocean.

2. The second piece is looted from Stormfeather - again, a rare spawn in Iceclad.

3. The third piece is found via a mini-quest. Kill Tizmaks in Great Divide until you have four of the NO DROP Yakman Parts. Hand all four parts to Bloodmaw in the same zone. Bloodmaw will despawn after you give him the parts. After this happens, say, 'I want the map please' to the gnome captive. He'll give you the third piece.

4. The fourth piece of the map is found on Lodizal.

Combine the four pieces in your container to craft Pieces of an Iceclad Map give this to the lost pirate:

a lost pirate grins widely and slaps you on the arm. 'Har har! You're crazier than I am. And since I know that I must not be that crazy after all. Ahh, I haven't felt this good in ages..' He shuffles the pieces and jots down a few notes here and there. 'There, now it's really finished. Let's get us outta here. Hold this fer me.' As he starts to try and crawl up the hill, a sleek figure darts towards him.
You gain experience!!

Receive the Completed Map of Iceclad in return.

A rabid snow cougar spawns and attacks. Whether you kill it or not does not seem to matter. Head to Captain Nalot.

You say, 'Hail, Captain Nalot'

Captain Nalot squints at you through one eye, the other covered by a metallic eyepatch. 'Garrr. What `ave we here? Another beller yellied land blubber eh? By the looks of ye someones mudder didnt know when ta throw a bad fish back. HAR HAR!'

You say, 'What do you mean, bad fish?'

Captain Nalot says 'That means I'm callin ya ugly as a piece o' whale blubber but twice as bad smellin, ya son of a water treadin _____. Yer about as smart as the slime we use ta patch our boat hull, aren't ya?'

You say, 'Where is this boat of yours?'

Captain Nalot says 'Arrrr. So we ain't got a boat right now. What's that got ta do with anythin'? Just cause we ain't got a boat, or a way to sail the waters, or even know how ta sail, don't mean we aren't crusty and dangerous. Just watch yerself cause we're mean.'

You say, 'You're mean?'

Captain Nalot says 'Thats right! We're mean, nasty, devious 'n cruel. We'll knock ya down, bite yer knees, and steal yer money. Arrr. We won't always say please and thank you either! Just remember that and don't be tryin' anyhin' funny.'

You say, 'What do you consider funny?'

Captain Nalot says 'Uh, I dunno what funny stuff. No one's ever asked that one. You know, just be nice ta everyone I guess. Think ya can do that?'

You say, 'What about the map?'

Captain Nalot says 'The map? What map? Oh wait, that thing I made ol' what's-his-name do ta get los... uh adventure. Uh, sure. If yer wantin' we've got a job for ya. If ya do it ya get ta be a real member o' me crew.'

You say, 'I want to be a real member of your crew.'

Captain Nalot says 'That means ya get ta take orders from me and ya get ta use fancy words like bilge hoistin' land blubbing beller yellied, and more. Anyways, we needed a map so me lads would stop gettin' lost, but the lad I sent out ain't come back with it. I even sent out a search party but I ain't heard from them either. If ya find 'im get the map and get back 'ere.'

Give the completed map to Captain Nalot.

Captain Nalot squints and then knocks hard on the metal half of his face to get his eye back in adjustment.. 'Arrr. This is perfect. Har! Now we can be plannin' our pillagin' and plunderin' all proper like. Good work, _____!' Captain Nalot slaps you on the back and accidentally drops his eyepatch. Being a proper pirate now you conveniently forget to mention it to him.
You gain experience!!

I've completed 4 of these in the past week for my alts. Nowadays Iceclad is empty. I got one for my Berzerker, Ranger, Warrior, and Monk, all in their late 40's. I also used my 73 SK for killing Lodizal and to lay waste to dire wolves to spawn the Dire Wolf Stalker. So here's a few thoughts on this:

1. Lodizal spawns on a regualar basis every 10+ hours or so and wanders around island #2 by the gnoll tents and ToFS. Green to my 73 SK. He is no longer camped much.

2. Stormfeather does seem to spawn on a 19+ hour respawn. I just parked my altt there and after 20 hours or so logged in every 2 hours. He is no longer camped either.

3. The Dire Wolf Stalker was the biggest pain. It spawns on island #3 when you kill a bunch of dire wolves. My 47 ranger got 1.5 lvls killing green's! :(. Finally I wised up and brought in the SK to lay waste to the wolf population and the stalker would spawn...occasionally. Having a pocket ranger for tracking really helps. This part took the longest because you couldn't just login, check, and logout. You have to be continuously killing the wolves until the rare spawns. Doing it with low lvl alts that actually get experience is going to be slower than just slaying every wolf with a higher level because the respawns will be slower.

4. Killing Tizmaks to get 4 'parts' is tedious but easy. Lots of velium weapons for pets or to sell for 5pp.

5. Bloodmaw turnin. This was strange. First my monk. He did the "run up, give a piece of meat, and FD" trick and it worked as advertised. Just gave the rest of the pieces in the still open UI window and BM despawned and I got the piece of the map from the gnome. They both respawn within about 5 mins. With my 48 ranger he used his Calm Animal spell (which is a lot lower than 48) and that worked just fine for the turn in. For my zerker and warrior though..things went strangely. I had a lvl 75 ranger come in and try to calm Bloodmaw. He conned indif to me, but simply would not take the meat. After quite a few tries, including different spells, the ranger brought in a DRU alt and the druid was able to do what the ranger could not, and I did the turnins for both of my alts. I have no idea why my low lvl ranger could make Calm Animal work, and the high lvl ranger couldn't make her's work. Baffling. Either the different lvl spells behave differently on Bloodmaw, or the level of the caster is the trick, or, if the caster is not the meat-giver maybe that has something to do with it.

Oh I also tried using a potion to look like an Elf but Bloodmaw was still aggressive. I thought, years ago, that had helped with a turnin, but I guess I was wrong. Or had the wrong faction. I wonder if a SHM in bear form could do the turn in?

After all that turn ins to the pirates happened and I got the eyepatch on all 4 of my melee alts. It's still a great item after all these years as a) it never runs out of charges, b) stacks with haste armor (but supposedly not with haste potions), and is great for melee types that are solo'ing and need a bit of extra help, or want faster kills. Good deal for those with dual wield.

For your alts getting the eyepatch as that seems all anyone does.

1. camp alt by bloodmaw invis clear whatever works
2. collect meat and do turn in on main
3. camp main log back in alt
4. have alt say 'i want the map'

I have heard tons of spawn times on Stormfeather so here is the real scoop. I have eyepatch on 12 toons btw and have just gotten stormfeather for the 4th straight spawn so i know =P He is a 30-36 hour spawn. Get there at 30 hours after he is killed and sit there for 6 hours. If he doesn't skip you will get him. I know he used to skip but he doesn't seem to anymore. Anyway that's the way you do it.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 13 2005 at 8:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Killed Stormfeather on 01/12/05 at 9:28 PM PST on the Stromm server and Lodi at 4:15 PM PST also on the Stromm server. GL to all on the quest and btw you do need a charmer of some sort to do the Tizmak hand in if he agroes you no go. On a final note the best place to get the Dire Wolf Stalker to spawn in Iceclad is N3280, P6290 too like 10 mins just kill them Dire Wolfs. Hope this helps and GL.
Part 3 MQable =)

The third part of the map in GD can be MQ'd. I just did it for my Shadow Knight. BST friend turned in the meat and I said the trigger phrase. Yay!
Bloodmaw
# Nov 18 2004 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent

some hints:

1) you can track him from the GD portal ring, in caves along zone wall on the way to velks from portal ring

2) if you are still getting attacked after Druid calm animal, Druid animal mez (beguile) works to be able to do the hand in. Melee took forever so had some time to play with spells ... got Bloodmaw down to 34% before figuring out that. Not sure if I had killed Bloodmaw if bloody gnome captive would have given up the map piece. Had already collected the timark parts ...

A 'rabid snow cougar' spawns and aggros. Despite the text, the lost pirate does not actually go anywhere. After you kill the cougar (not that it seems to matter if you do or don't) its time to go see Captain Nalot...

[]You say, 'Hail, Captain Nalot'

[] Captain Nalot squints at you through one eye, the other covered by a metallic eyepatch. 'Garrr. What `ave we here? Another beller yellied land blubber eh? By the looks of ye someones mudder didnt know when ta throw a bad fish back. HAR HAR!'

[] You say, 'What do you consider funny?'

[] Captain Nalot says 'Uh, I dunno what funny stuff. No one's ever asked that one. You know, just be nice ta everyone I guess. Think ya can do that?'

Well, the only thing I have of any use to him is this map that the pirate gave to me.... Hmm, pirates like maps... who knows maybe there's burried treasure marked on it or something.

Hand Captain Nalot the completed map...

[] Captain Nalot squints and then knocks hard on the metal half of his face to get his eye back in adjustment.. 'Arrr. This is perfect. Har! Now we can be plannin' our pillagin' and plunderin' all proper like. Good work, Kyrros!' Captain Nalot slaps you on the back and accidentally drops his eyepatch. Being a proper pirate now you conveniently forget to mention it to him.

[] You gain experience!!

Something to add to Kyrros's text

when rescuing the gnome from bloodmaw neither seemed to respond to hails. there was no text or exp message when I was finally able to hand the last tizmak meat to bloodmaw. only then did the the Gnome respond...

'Borrowing Kyrros's format...'

[] You say, 'Hail, gnomish captive'

[] gnomish captive says 'Uh, hi. Hey, that was great work and all. I couldn't believe that. Knowing that bear, I was sure my time was up. I'm heading back to Ak'Anon. I've had enough of pirates, mountains, snow, and bears ten times my size. If you want a map to get back, you can have it.'

[] You say, 'I want a map, please'

The Gnome hands you the third map piece without any other text and immediately despawns.

Actually, it has to be "I want the map." You can say "please" if you want, but I didn't feel much like it by the time I figured out it has to be "the" instead of "a"!

As for the lack of response, what I'd really like to know is how anyone first figured out to feed Yakman Parts to Bloodmaw? I expected the bloodied gnome captive (who really ought to be linked to this quest) to say something when hailed that would clue me in to how to get rid of the beast.

I gave him four parts, he despawned, but no gnome. I hadn't actually started the quest yet, had just booked into GD, went over and got parts and gave them to him. Do you actually have to go see the lost pirate first?

4th Piece easy.
# Aug 14 2004 at 5:31 PM Rating: Good
Reading the quest it looked like the 4th piece of the map would be the hard piece to get. After reading some of the post someone got loot rights so I made the trip. Shur enough a large group was there fighting Lodizal. I asked if I could loot one of the 2 part 4 map pieces he drops and got the OK. While watching got jumped by a Gnoll which con'ed Light Blue to my 51 Ranger but was not worried....he's light blue. Well he started to wipe the floor with me then had 3 friends join in. Not knowing the zone I died not far from the big turtle.

Made the run back thinking the loot would be gone. Happy to say everyone was gone but the big turtle's corpse was still there, with mine. Carefully got my stuff and looted one to the pair of the 4th map piece's on him (nothing else left of course) and moved on. Turns out the hardest part of this quest is the wait for Stormfeather to show up. Killing lots of Snow Cougers and collecting Low Quality Pelts in the mean time. : (

P.S. Oh yeah almost forgot. The three static Snow Cougars that stand under the tree at 5989, 962 where the named one Midnight spawns, there good for practicing your highly usfull skill of begging and since they do not seem to be social I kill the wandering cougers that pass by and they wont run away from me, since there are 3 more right there, and there frinds just stnad there and let them die! :o
