You say, 'Hail, Ami'

Ami flips through a few pages of a small book, reading intently before answering you. 'Ye scurvy dog. I'll strike yer colors 'fore ya can put me on a gibbet. Take that, ya crimp!' She flips through a few more pages then smiles at you. 'Arrrr!'

You say, 'Ye scurvy dog!'

Ami grins. 'Hey, that's pretty good. You did it without a book too. Nice to meet you. I'm the bosun here.'

You say, 'You're a Bosun?'

Ami says 'Yup. I think it means I'm in charge of the flag cause that's what the Cap'n told me to take care of. I'm the one who made our symbol, so I get to protect it. I even got my own copy of the grammar manual so I can practice my pirate speech.'

You say, 'What kind of grammar manual?'

Ami nods and shows you the book for a moment. 'We don't have many of them and usually we share. My book is missing a chapter, though.'

You say, 'What chapter is missing?'

Ami nods. 'A mate of mine borrowed the P Chapter to draw a map on but then he went and got himself lost. I've memorized the rest of the book but that chapter. Oh, well, I guess I can get by with what I have. Walk the mizenmast and batten down the boom!' She looks at you proudly. 'Good, eh? I'm one of the best pirates we have.'

Find the lost pirate at +6360, +1005.

You say, 'Hail, a lost pirate'

a lost pirate twitches and growls a little. 'Arrr. Grrr. Ahoy, mate. The name's Teep.' He shivers and you notice a little drool at the corner of his mouth. 'Ya ain't lost out here too, are ya?'

You say, 'I am not lost.'

a lost pirate grins and stares through you with a mad gleam in his eye. 'Hehehe. Yah, yer lost aren't ya. I can tell from the crazy sound o' yer voice. Too bad we ain't got me map. The map would lead us straight back ta camp. Yah, that it would, boyo.'

You say, 'What map?'

a lost pirate nods. 'After we got ourselves stuck on this island I got it in me head to draw up a map so none o' the crew would ever get lost. So I set myself to explorin' and drawin'. Now the map is gone. Too bad, too, cause it was a map o' the whole place, not just the first island, but a bunch o' parts.' Mention of the map seems to have sobered him up a bit.

You say, 'Gone?'

a lost pirate says 'Aye. I lost the first part walkin' through the woods. Some big wolf bowled me over 'n started to tear me book up. 'Fore I could stop, it he ran off. I'm not knowin' why. The second part, heh. That was worse.'

You say, 'What happened to the second part?'

a lost pirate shivers. 'The second piece I lost, well, that put the fear o' Bertox in me. I was still in the woods at the time. It was at night. Cold and crisp, it was. I heard a flappin' and squawkin' above me and I knew my time was near. So I up and jumped into a snow drift. Soon as that, somethin' swooped down where I was and started tearin' my camp up. When I came back, I saw nothin' but feathers and me torn up book. Another quarter o' me book was gone.'

You say, 'What happened to the third part?'

a lost pirate says 'Huh? Oh, the other pieces? I gave a piece to a mate o' mine 'cause he wanted to help. Nice enough fella but he couldn't find north from a hole in the hull. Last I saw he wandered off towards the bridge. The last piece went away after I stumbled and fell down here. After a while I didn't care, so I threw it in the water. It floated off. Seems like everythin' that goes wrong ta me is because of some danged wild animal. I can't quite figger it.'

You say, 'I will find the parts.'

a lost pirate laughs. 'Its yer funeral, boyo. I'm not even sure they're readable. Oh, well. Here, take this. It's the cover of the book I was puttin' the map in. If ya get the first four parts, put em in there. If ya get the fifth, just go give it ta Ami the way ya find it. Hey, if ya find em all, come get me so I can find me way back. I'm thinkin' I'd like ta go back now.'

You say, 'Where is chapter P?'

a lost pirate stares at the water. 'I'm rememberin' that. Yah. Ami's book. Thats what I drew, erm, the fifth part o'n. It got lost in the ocean too.' He looks at you. 'Yer wantin' ta go out and find all o' these pieces?'

You receive a Map Binding, a four-slot container. Find the four parts to the map:

1. The first piece of the map can be looted off of a Dire Wolf Stalker, a rare spawn in Iceclad Ocean.

2. The second piece is looted from Stormfeather - again, a rare spawn in Iceclad.

3. The third piece is found via a mini-quest. Kill Tizmaks in Great Divide until you have four of the NO DROP Yakman Parts. Hand all four parts to Bloodmaw in the same zone. Bloodmaw will despawn after you give him the parts. After this happens, say, 'I want the map please' to the gnome captive. He'll give you the third piece.

4. The fourth piece of the map is found on Lodizal.

Combine the four pieces in your container to craft Pieces of an Iceclad Map give this to the lost pirate:

a lost pirate grins widely and slaps you on the arm. 'Har har! You're crazier than I am. And since I know that I must not be that crazy after all. Ahh, I haven't felt this good in ages..' He shuffles the pieces and jots down a few notes here and there. 'There, now it's really finished. Let's get us outta here. Hold this fer me.' As he starts to try and crawl up the hill, a sleek figure darts towards him.
You gain experience!!

Receive the Completed Map of Iceclad in return.

A rabid snow cougar spawns and attacks. Whether you kill it or not does not seem to matter. Head to Captain Nalot.

You say, 'Hail, Captain Nalot'

Captain Nalot squints at you through one eye, the other covered by a metallic eyepatch. 'Garrr. What `ave we here? Another beller yellied land blubber eh? By the looks of ye someones mudder didnt know when ta throw a bad fish back. HAR HAR!'

You say, 'What do you mean, bad fish?'

Captain Nalot says 'That means I'm callin ya ugly as a piece o' whale blubber but twice as bad smellin, ya son of a water treadin _____. Yer about as smart as the slime we use ta patch our boat hull, aren't ya?'

You say, 'Where is this boat of yours?'

Captain Nalot says 'Arrrr. So we ain't got a boat right now. What's that got ta do with anythin'? Just cause we ain't got a boat, or a way to sail the waters, or even know how ta sail, don't mean we aren't crusty and dangerous. Just watch yerself cause we're mean.'

You say, 'You're mean?'

Captain Nalot says 'Thats right! We're mean, nasty, devious 'n cruel. We'll knock ya down, bite yer knees, and steal yer money. Arrr. We won't always say please and thank you either! Just remember that and don't be tryin' anyhin' funny.'

You say, 'What do you consider funny?'

Captain Nalot says 'Uh, I dunno what funny stuff. No one's ever asked that one. You know, just be nice ta everyone I guess. Think ya can do that?'

You say, 'What about the map?'

Captain Nalot says 'The map? What map? Oh wait, that thing I made ol' what's-his-name do ta get los... uh adventure. Uh, sure. If yer wantin' we've got a job for ya. If ya do it ya get ta be a real member o' me crew.'

You say, 'I want to be a real member of your crew.'

Captain Nalot says 'That means ya get ta take orders from me and ya get ta use fancy words like bilge hoistin' land blubbing beller yellied, and more. Anyways, we needed a map so me lads would stop gettin' lost, but the lad I sent out ain't come back with it. I even sent out a search party but I ain't heard from them either. If ya find 'im get the map and get back 'ere.'

Give the completed map to Captain Nalot.

Captain Nalot squints and then knocks hard on the metal half of his face to get his eye back in adjustment.. 'Arrr. This is perfect. Har! Now we can be plannin' our pillagin' and plunderin' all proper like. Good work, _____!' Captain Nalot slaps you on the back and accidentally drops his eyepatch. Being a proper pirate now you conveniently forget to mention it to him.
You gain experience!!

Receive Eyepatch of Plunder.

Going to throw some ideas up on this lil forum about Bloodmaw, there is 2 ways to do him i have found..

- One Involves an Enchanter to charm him so you can hand in meats im pretty sure Bloodmaw is KoS To all

- Two Invovles getting close enough to him so he is not attacking u BUT u can hand in meats

*Important* If He Agros you and starts attacking but you back up so he stops then still hand in meats he WILL NOT DESPAWN,you need to CAMP. the gnome will spawn but wont respond to hails or "can i please have the map"

Really odd, but I never charmed/harmonied Bloodmaw for turn in.

I actually found a trick with my Vah'shir about selling/handing in items to npc that don't normally sell/accept you.

In Crystal Caverns to sell to the vendors I stood behind them and put sneak on. This works on all vendors though. Makes ya indifferent.

So with my Pally I thought about that with Bloodmaw. Now not able to sneak, I stood "behind" Bloodmaw. He has a extremely low agro range and is always facing forward.
He accepted the 4 Nodrop meats and despawned. Then just talked to the gnome after that.

Try this at MAX trade distance.

My problem is that Bloodmaw and the captive gnome are up together. I tried to have the map 3 times.

Bloodmaw doesn't want the meat when I handle it to him and the gnome doesn't do anything when i say "I want the map please" to him.

What can I do ?

Poor faction with Bloodmaw?
# Oct 02 2002 at 3:42 PM Rating: Good
Aloha hon --

All that I can recall from when I did this, is that Mr. Bloodmaw did not like me very much and ate my meat. Unnerved by this fat (in my opinion)beast who ets too much red meat, I went forth and collected another 4 sets of meat and brought along a freindly chanter. The chanter cast a spell and I was able to complete the quest portion. Sadly I do not recall if it was a charm (highly likly) or a charisma spell (Doubtful) -- but hey I am a ranger and I know chanters can mez mobs, slow them, give me KEI and change me into a werewolf from time to time -- I hear that some of them can even embue Jewlery

(okie was trying to make a joke there ...)

As for a couple of the other mob questions.

Lodi -- no brainer camp mob, attain aggro and call friends. Loot the item.

Stormfeather -- 19 hours from server up is when I got my drop. Totl time speant camping this chap? Over 100 hours (collected 23 couger claw earings in the process killing cougers while I waited. The noobs in Everfrost were very happy when I came to town that day) Best spot is the tippy-top of the hill, looking down at the 3 gnomes. It is hit or miss on the time, and be prepared to suffer through his skipping a spawn. Mob is often camped by people who are 2 boxing (running a second computer) so unscrupulous people will often KS and loot the mob before the other person can react. To me, this mob was the toughest portion of the quest.

On the lost pirate -- get a ranger to help you find him, or wander off that hill that you were camping Stormfeather on and stroll on down the the rocky beach. You can see him from the camp ... not sure how you missed him :-)

Hope this helps with your questing :-)

Thx but that's not what i want to know =)

Do I have to wait the gnome to desappear or do I have to just ask him to give me the 3rd part of the map ?

When bloodmaw despawns, the gnome will respawn a different gnome... thats when you have to ask him for the map.

This is not true....even if he attacks you you do not have to camp just get to max trading range. I just did it today. So you do not need to camp.

I did the whole thing in one day. In guild chat they said Lodi was up and bam we went and smacked him down. I got awarded the map piece and that was the first piece I got. After that I parked my druid at Stormfeather camp then myself and a friend went and killed dire wolves. After about 20 mins a dire wolf stalker popped and back we went to Stormfeather camp. The a wizzy friend of mine came and scooped us up while leaving my druid at Stormfeather and we killed the tizmaks and got the piece from the gnome in GD. Then back to Stormfeather. We killed Lodi at about 5pm and bam 6 hours later Stormfeaher popped and I got my Eyepatch. Big thanks to my guild <Lumiere Divine> and Elmiserx for sticking it out with me.

I petitioned after 72 hours to make sure it wasn't nerfed, but this is ridiculas! So I did a /bug... I don't much appreciate bottlenecks like this on a quest. Whats the reasoning in making this thing nearly unattainable? (*sigh*)

I can tell you for certain what the placeholder is...

ME! I'm sure he spawns everytime I log out!
RE: Woo hoo!!

it prolly has to do with the eyepatch having 20% clicky haste. that's a spell ability normally reserved for 2 classes (not including a paladin's self only haste or bard haste). I think some sort of bottleneck is reasonable. one this bad? that's a bit over the top.

Here is the text from the lost pirate and his trigger words. He can be picky on some of the triggers so u might want to use them exactly as I did when I completed the quest:

You say, 'Hail, a lost pirate'
a lost pirate twitches and growls a little. 'Arrr. Grrr. Ahoy, mate. The name's Teep.' He shivers and you notice a little drool at the corner of his mouth. 'Ya ain't lost out here too, are ya?'

You say, 'i am lost'
(no response from him)

You say, 'what map?'
a lost pirate nods. 'After we got ourselves stuck on this island I got it in me head to draw up a map so none o' the crew would ever get lost. So I set myself to explorin' and drawin'. Now the map is gone. Too bad, too, cause it was a map o' the whole place, not just the first island, but a bunch o' parts.' Mention of the map seems to have sobered him up a bit.

You say, 'where gone'
a lost pirate says 'Aye. I lost the first part walkin' through the woods. Some big wolf bowled me over 'n started to tear me book up. 'Fore I could stop, it he ran off. I'm not knowin' why. The second part, heh. That was worse.'

You say, 'where second part'
a lost pirate shivers.

You say, 'where third part'
a lost pirate says 'Huh? Oh, the other pieces? I gave a piece to a mate o' mine 'cause he wanted to help. Nice enough fella but he couldn't find north from a hole in the hull. Last I saw he wandered off towards the bridge. The last piece went away after I stumbled and fell down here. After a while I didn't care, so I threw it in the water. It floated off. Seems like everythin' that goes wrong ta me is because of some danged wild animal. I can't quite figger it.'

You say, 'what is chapter p'
a lost pirate stares at the water. 'I'm rememberin' that. Yah. Ami's book. Thats what I drew, erm, the fifth part o'n. It got lost in the ocean too.' He looks at you. 'Yer wantin' ta go out and find all o' these pieces?'

You say, 'i want to find the parts'
(he gives u a 4-slot combine container)
a lost pirate laughs.

(put the 4 map pieces in the box and hit combine)
You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

(give him the *combined* container)
(he gives u a completed map back in return)
a lost pirate grins widely and slaps you on the arm.

(a Rabid snow cougar spawns on top of the pirate and attacks u, dropped no loot for me)
Tue Rabid snow cougar claws YOU for 74 points of damage.

Turn the completed map into Captain Nalot for your eyepatch--grats!!

Here is the correct text that needs to be said and the responses. The pirate is very picky so use the words exactly:

You say, 'Hail, a lost pirate'

a lost pirate twitches and growls a little. 'Arrr. Grrr. Ahoy, mate. The name's Teep.' He shivers and you notice a little drool at the corner of his mouth. 'Ya ain't lost out here too, are ya?'

I'm thinkin' I'd like ta go back now.'

<You get the combine box now>

Combine the 4 parts of the map and give it back to the lost pirate...

a lost pirate grins widely and slaps you on the arm.

Rabid snow cougar claws YOU for 74 points of damage.

<this mob spawns when u turn in the combined box (book), and u get a completed map back from the pirate>

Take the map u get to the captain and give it to him and u are done.

After recieving the binder from the lost pirate, it opened as any other box would, you no longer need to log out or zone. Oddly as I returned it a Rabid Snow Cougar spawned on top of me attacking, was light blue con to a 46. The animal's only drop was a Low Quality Cougarskin <shrug> Not sure what this part was for....

Just a little tid bit because this drove me nuts for quite awhile.. Once you hail the lost pirate and speak with him.. then head to the igloo's and talk to Ami.. then back to the lost pirate for the last bit of dialogue..

You say "ami wants chapter p"

He responds and the last thing he says is "are you wantin to find all o' the pieces"

You must respond with: I want to find the PARTS
so just replace 'pieces' with 'parts' and it works fine... and yea.. still have to camp or zone to make the book open. Hope that helps.

From what i've seen Stormfeather seems to share the spawn site and path of one of 3 cougars around the gnome tree. (this is an a guess made from all the information i've gotten from members of my guild camping him, and others who have told me where they saw Stormfeather first pop.

If you stand above the gnome tree and look toward the water with the dock to the right side of your screen:

The first spot is the cougar that spawns to the lower left of the tree about 5 feet, turns and walks left, parallel to the water, to about 20 feet left of the tree and then walks up the hill. A guildmember camped him 3 times and this was where Stormfeather spawned each time for him.

The second spot is the cougar that spawns about 30 feet left of the tree and a little up the hill. Stormfeather will spawn here and immediately start to fly up the hill. (this was where he popped for me) Keep a close eye on this spot, because if this is where Stormfeather does pop, he will fly up the hill immediately and if there is a caster waiting at the top trying to KS you, he'll be able to target the griffon and cast before you have a chance to get to him.

The third spot is the cougar that spawns in between the gnome tree and the cougar tree off to the upper right. I had a number of people tell me to sit just up from the gnome tree and keep watching in between those 2 trees because that's where he popped for them.

Also, if you ever need to get up from your computer during your 54 hour wait...ugh... there is a safe spot you can sit in and not be bothered by the cougars, it's where the overhanging branch of the gnome tree hits the snow, just sit right above it and the paths of the cougars wont come close enough to agro you.

Bloodmaw

Mistletoe Powder, one charge of Befriend Animal, that drops off Thistle Underbrush in lesser faydark, works fine on Bloodmaw. Just a tip for those that don't have charm, sneak, or FD (like myself).

Bloodmaw didn't aggro on me at 55. Not sure if he normally aggro's on anyone.
just got him to work

walk up to a lost pirate, target him, and hail him.

once hailed, stop targeting a lost pirate.

get close to him, say *i want to find the parts*

he'll give you a book. the book is bugged tho, camp in and out and it should work.

a rabid snow cougar spawns once you turn in the combined map pieces.

good luck!

thank you thank you thank you Mr Annon - that tip REALLY WORKS !!!

Bloody rubbish quest text - its not at all what the pirate was speaking about - Pirate talks about four PIECES - but responds to us asking for PARTS !!!!!

I think Lost Pirate is a little deaf - you do need to stand almost ontop of him for him to hear you - and DON'T have him targeted after you click combine and hand him back the map - as immediately a Rabid Cougar attacks - and you wouldnt want to hit the pirate by accident!! =)

So - you hand back the combined map - he hands you completed map - kill rabid cougar & leg it to Capt. Nalot - hand in completed & do the dance of the funky Eyepatch of Plunder - woot !

Ok this will help you all out getting the book off of that lost pirate. tonight i spent about 15 to 20 minutes speed typing anything i could think of to get him to finally give the book so i could turn in my pieces. Just before i gave up for the night i typed the the right thing.
in order to get him to hand you the book you need to type "I will find the parts". typing parts instead of pieces is where i messed up so if thats what your having trouble with there is your solution. GL everyone

workaround for pirate

To get around it, do not have the pirate targeted and say the quest info. He'll give it to you, but you have to be within speaking range of it ;)
