This quest is offered after you complete the Orc Runner quest. You will also need to be at 232 mid-amiable faction with Clerics of Tunare to get this quest.

Speak with the Paladin guildmaster, Lord Jyleel, in the basement of the Paladin guild in Northern Felwithe. He wants you to prove yourself a faithful Paladin of the court.

General Jyleel says, 'So, the Teir'Dal are behind the recent advances of the orcs?!! Your news has shed light on their union. It is time to step forth and prove yourself a [faithful paladin of this court].'

You say, 'I am a faithful paladin of this court'

General Jyleel says, 'I command you to seek out this Ambassor D`Vinn and rip his heart from his lifeless body. Next, find the supreme caster of the orcs and, finally, find the spot where supplies are dropped by the Teir`Dal for the orcs. There you should find the supply crate. Return all 3 items and you shall wield the falchion.'

Black Heart drops off Ambassador Dvinn in Crushbone.

Blue Orc Head drops off the Orc Prophet also in Crushbone.

Large Locked Crate drops off Brawn in the Ocean of Tears - about 22nd level - on the rocks with the Sirens just as you enter the Ocean of Tears from Faydwer.

Bring those 3 items back to Jyleel.

General Jylell says, 'A noble deed has been done and the alliance of evil has been stalled. I present you with the falchion of the Koada`Vie. You are now an honorable member of our order. Hail Felwithe, and may you defender her with honor.'
Your faction standing with Clerics of Tunare has been adjusted by 50.
Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex has been adjusted by 50.
    You gain experience!

Brawn spawns at exactly 4:00 AM game time, on the only island that has sirens on it.

Sirens will de-pop and two dark elf dragoons will pop in their place shortly before Brawn. The dragoons will harm touch.

Then Brawn spawn, also harm touches.

I was unable to get the quest at Faction 132 - so low amiable no good.

I was unable to get this quest at Faction 182.

I was able to get the quest at Faction 232. So its mid-amiable.

Admins, which should be the official value here under faction level required in these cases?

I'm guessing 200 is the magic number.

Just so everyone knows, this quest is NOT given after you do the orc runner quest. What starts it is a note that the Orc Runner sometimes drops. When you turn THIS note into General Jyleel, the quest is spawned.

When you con him, he has to look on you warmly or kindly. The best way to do it is the quest called "muffins for pandos". It took me 300 muffins for Jyleel to con kindly. Finally got my falchion. :)

When I went to the ocean of tears, Brawn was already there. He is a huge ogre? (I didn't get that close) that conned red to me at level 19. On the rock that is was standing is a troll? named nebirik? that conned yellow. When I found them, they were not on the same rock as the sirens.

To all you who think this quest is crappy because it yields a shamefully weak reward:

Well, Rogues who do the Burning Rapier quest don't HAVE to do the Burning Rapier quest(at least not way into the later levels when they can get Ragebringer). The reward is, by today's standards, pretty weak and you could buy something better in the bazaar easily. But still, there are rogues who do that quest. Why? Because they're actually trying to prove their worth as a rogue through deeds, not through the 175/17 Dagger of Major Uberity their level 65 paladin picked up for them in the Bazaar. It's the same with the Falchion. I'm going to do this quest because it shows I'm worthy of wielding a holy sword such as this, no matter how weak or strong it is.

There is, however, a use for the burning rapier quest - to get the Grandmaster Assassin's Seal needed for making 5 and 10 shot poisons.

Also, in the original epic quest, it was intended that you needed to do the Burning Rapier quest in order to finish it, which explains Stanos' speech about redemption at the end. However, they messed it up and people could do the quest without doing the burning rapier subquest at all, so not many bothered.

Not that it affects the purpose of your rant, just wanted to correct a point in my own pedantic way :P

You don't have to do the Orc Runner quest to start this. You must have atleast "Warmly" faction with Lord Jyleel in Felwith Paladin guild.

You can raise your faction with Felwith Paladins by doing "Muffins for Pandos" and raise your faction with Pandos by doing Orc Belts in Kaladim.

Black Heart off DVinn and Blue Orc Head off "The Prophet" are both found where Emporer Crush spawns in the tower of the main house in Crushbone.

Brawn is found at /loc 195, 9526. You must kill the Sirens to get him to spawn.

Turn in the heart, head and a large locked crate to Jyleel for your Falchion.

Its not a great weapon, but it is a Holy Blade.

Would you all stop complaining about twinks!? How can you say all twinks dont deserve their items cuz they didnt earn them? atleast 90% of the people in EQ are twinked from their own characters who they WORKED ON to get up to the higher levels of 50+. and that newbie who thinks he knows everything talking about dual wielding Wurmy??? what are u on its a primary only, you could get a wurmy by level 15 easy if u save up and maybe do some tradeskills(seeing how it can be bought for 400pp on some servers) and at level 3? who gets dual wield at level 3 newb... dont talk unless u know what you are talkin' about!

Nice to know you can use someone else's information to help you beat up on a new person. Notice that the guy who posted below him already stated what long term players already know. Instead of beating up on the new people, why don't you try helping them understand better?

Or at least think up your own information that isn't already posted.

    no drop.

No one buys no one sells there is no market there is no economy, CAUSE YOU CAN'T SELL THE AWESOME ****! So all the market and everyhting reverts to making Banded mail the uber twink stuff

    good idea, ne?
after all, if you can't sell it, that makes all the other stuff MUCH more expensive and attractive. Think about it. Talk to Verant about it. 3rd level Warriors wouldn't be dual wielding Wurmslayers and God knows what. no twinkage of godly items.

Hmmmm... The only way to get "twinked" is to earn enough money to buy it. Therefore if you are low enough and it takes forever to earn that amount you have earned the item. Or if you already have a high lvl character that twinks his alts, you've earned it by getting to that lvl on your first character. Plus I agree with CheesySnax. You should learn what your talking about before you try and make a point.

i have to say i'm very upset with the twinking going on these days.everything is commercial i can't stand it. i ham a lv.12 paly on tholuxe paells and i have earned every peice of gear i have. from the scarab bp to the ogre heads for armor quest. people need to take some pride in the game and earn the stuff for christ sakes.i am proud of my self cause everything i have i have earned period.

    # Mar 29 2003 at 5:35 AM Rating: Decent
I earned all of my Pallies gear. With my Druid. Heh hee! The thing is, twinking only helps to get through the lower levels faster so you can get up into the real game.

I don't agree with people twinking that don't learn how to play their alts before they get someone killed with their ignorance though.

If you are gonna twink, at least pay attention and learn how to play your alt correctly.

Everyone asks my alts to join their groups if they have grouped with them once because I play them correctly. Must, I can always find a group with people I have grouped with before.

On subject: This is a decent weapon for a non-twinked Pally. Do the quest, get the weapon if you don't already have better. Check newbie quests first though. Might have some stats on that weapon.

    Such as:

LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM NO DROP
    Damage: 8
    Delay: 29
    Ratio: 3.625 Good
    Str: +1 Wis: +1
    Weight: 5.5
    Weapon Skill: One Hand Slash
    Classes: Paladin
    Races: High Elf Half Elf
    Deity: Tunare
    Inventory Slot: Primary Melee
Can be stored in Medium and larger containers

#Anonymous, Posted: May 21 2002 at 1:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have found that this same sword drops off a pally in Firiona Vie. His name is Lord (not sure about the lord part) Daelion, he was patheticly easy to kill, and its a minor faction hit. Well actually I killed him at 52 because he had a cool looking sword on him hehe. =) Anyhoo, if you have the Kunark expansion, and you want this item, just ask someone in the zone to kill him.

for those of you out there that, like me, have nothing better to do. I got the Heart of Dvinn a long time ago when i used to fight in Crushbone, and the Blue Orc head a while ago too, but they just sat in the bank... one day I looked up what quest they go to and decided to try it, well for a Dwarf Paladin who serves Brell, faction is a bit hard to achieve. So I started by handing in bone chips at the cleric guild in Felwithe to get my faction up, I think I must have turned in between 15 to 20 stacks of bone chips to get the faction for this quest. My faction is only amiable but I'm assuming it's a pretty high amiable cause it took alot of bonechips after I first hit amiable to get him to give me the quest.
Well anyways, point is that a Dwarf Paladin can do this quest, he doesn't have to be of Tunare deiety. Also here is the exact spawn of Brawn...
pos 210, pos 9410, spawns on the same island as the troll guy... hope it helps anyone who actually takes the time to do this quest, like I said I had nothing better to do.

I'm a 24th Paly on Quellious, and I'm doing this quest, not for the reward of the weapon, but for the pride in serving the Koada'Vie. The name of this game is "EverQuest" not "New World Economics." Sure I can buy a better weapon. Heck, my Ghoulbane(no drop now) blows this away, but I enjoy questing. I have all I need to complete the quest. I have turned in 2 orc runner pouches to Jyleel and lots of Illegible scrolls to him, but still can't get the Falchion quest. Anyone know how high faction needs to be to get it? Also, I follow Brell Serelis, not Tunare. Does anyone know if this quest is only for followers of Tunare? or any noble Paly like myself? I'll never hunt will this weapon but want to finish the quest because it is a Paladin quest, I am worthy and want to prove it to the Koada'Vie. Any help will be appreciated.

But Verant really should take into consideration that the players have themselves created a market. With the orc belts alone i made about 150pp by level 10 with my paladin. So I could easily afford a better weapon. I know a lot of other players are upset with these kind of situations. Would a petition help?
    disappointed
    # Dec 10 2001 at 7:18 AM Rating: Good
Sorry guys but I too am really disappointed in this quest. Verant has made some bad mistakes recently by adding tons of new upper level weapons but not updating any of their current quests. I know a few guys who have played EQ since the beginning. This used to be an uber-sword in their time and well worth the risk. Unfortunately, it isn't worth it anymore. Like the other guy said, if this was a 10 dam with stats it would definitely be worth it. Just remember that you've probably got enough money to get wayyyy better by lvl 22 (camp unrest, bronze, and fine steel weapons plus occasional ringmail= lots of plat) Dvinn can kick the crap out of a 22 lvl pally even if you used lay hands. The guy hits in the 40's for heavens sake. Plus the drops the dragoon dirk which has better stats than the falchion. You need some serious backup if you're going to try and take him down along with the Prophet (orc wizzy that has the head component) and Emperor Crush who all spawn in the same room. The only thing this quest is worth is faction and maybe exp. Hell, smiths can forge better weapons than this and its a no drop so you can't give it away! Way to go Verant, you came up short....again!

First of all, id like to thank those whom posted above me. I am the lvl 21 dwarven cleric, Ollom Hammersong on the Torvonnilous serverm, who was going to do this quest, but now i find that the weapon is no drop, so i shall not. i was going to do this quest and give to a newbie, for the sheer fact that i had the head and heart already. why not go for the whole she-bang, right? anyway, I admit that i accepted handouts. Plenty of people were very kind to me, including my guild, so call me twinked if you must. Some things i bought fairly, other stuff was given, and i freely admit that. and i also admit that when luclin comes out, i have 1 item i shall b giving my new character. But i can see where some of this is post makes sense, if indeed the weapon had a proc, or some stat...it would b better. but if I were a dwarf paladin with good enuff faction in Felwithe, hell yea id do this quest, even at lvl 24. Its a magic sword, 6/24. you cant get better sometimes and hell. this is a good fill in! guess ill just destroy the orc head and heart now tho.

Sorry, but as an untwinked 13th level Dwarven Paladin who dumped every penny I had into smithing, I can now forge a ******* Sword for 3-4pp that's actually better than the falchion. I'd like to have the weapon, but nobody will give the time of day to help someone out at my level. Ayonae Ro Server is just riddled with ubertwinks, and I just can't find the kind of support I'd need to actually go out and kill the Orgre for the box. It's sad, but true. This quest is too difficult for most of the people who'd want it.

I did this quest in my mid 20s and was shocked by how much experience was gained by doing it, I recieved half a bubble for it at level 27 and this was back in the day of the 40% Hybrid Experience penelty, so even if the sword rewarded is marginal, it certainly isn't a waste of your time doing

When I did the quest, Silvery War Axes were 200+PP each so I could not afford one anyway. I did the quest at 19th and used it until I got Ghoulbane at 27th.

The quest is a good one, but in the days of 50 PP SWA, it is a weak weapon.

Quests with weak rewards is really becomming an issue for many players of EQ. Especially for lower levels... Remember, EQ is still and RPG and the quests at lower levels kinda stink... You have to reward your players with something to keep them interested... Then, by the time you finally get some levels under your belt and you can go on some more exciting quests, the reward is a 6/24 sword with not effects... What the heck is a 22nd level Pally going to do with a 6/24? It is like this with almost (again almost) all of the quests in the game... Just tweak the rewards a little bit... if this weapon was made for 8th level players it would be worth it... or if the sword was 10/24 with +10 or so to mana or hp or +3 to STR or 15% haste or something... it would be a quest worthy of a 22nd level Paladin... Good luck fellow hunters, May Tunare guide you...

Well, the idea of tweeking the rewards is long
overdue but means nothing to the newbies in
and around Kelethin on the Tunare Server. The higher level PCs have gotten so weathly off selling all of their plunder and managed to ruin
the market value of every item in E.Q. when they
got DUMB and started giving too many items away for LOW prices and often for free.
    I work hard too earn pp,buy a good item,only
to see every low level newbie have the same item
less than a week later. What the hell?

    # Oct 14 2001 at 10:55 PM Rating: Good
The reason this quest "sucks", as everyone says, is because of the economy and all the supertwinks running around.

Sure you can get a sporalli defenders blade for a few hundred, or this or that, etc etc, but in an environment where things arent given out to players before they could otherwise earn it, it is much more valuable.

If you view the in-game quests in that light it makes a big difference. My all natural paladin on seventh hammer ( using a rusty halberd till 7th level when I bought a fine steel ) completed this quest at high teens with a group of friends and I loved the weapon. Unique look, decent stats, etc.

My new bard on Firiona Vie, just completed the fleshy orb quest, another quest which supposedly "sucks" becuase it hands out only a fine steel weapon. Compared to the rusty I was able to beat a baddie down for at that level or the bronze I could buy, this was an excellent reward.

I dont believe Verant is wrong for gearing the quests and rewards to the level of what an untwinked newbie should be able to get. Try starting from scratch again, with no twinks, no begging, no "gifts" and this sword is more worthwile.

That being said, I would like to see something else to this sword. Perhaps an increasing story line reward similar to the initiate symbol quests or interrogator badge series quests.

    AGREED!!

I was a 22 lvl wiz with my sr. app robe and an int of 151 running around LOIO. people laughed at me. I got "sick" looking at level 7's with Oracle robes or SMR's. I had a lvl 3 gnome (w/a BCR on) ask me my int, he laughed and said his was 203, AT LVL 3! WTF?!

I did the staff of the wheel quest, I camped Pyzjn, acumen mask, runescale cloak, mystic cloak, staff of temp flux, weeping wand, I saved every copper and bought decent int jewlery and I played it straight. I was given some stuff by some people walking by (twice) at lower levels. now that helped but it was minor compared to others. I never begged but I did ask for advice.

I was recently accused of being a twink because I have a GBS and the thyxl. Hey, I camped the GSB on my own and got lucky on the thyxl, right place right time.

I've since gotten better gear with the help of my guild and on my own but I was pissed for a long time. The halloween events helped!
