When the July 14, 2004 patch introduced the revamped Veeshan's Peak, it also introduced a quest to get the New Key to Veeshan's Peak. Completing this quest serves as a shortcut in the new quest, but is not required for it. You cannot enter Veeshan's Peak without obtaining the new key.

You can no longer multiquest the quest handins. 9-20-2017 patch.

This is the quest to get the key to enter Veeshan's Peak. All told, it should take you several days real time to complete, and will require help from others along the way.

Not far south (just keep the wall on your right) from the Swamp of No Hope zone, there's a passage going into the wall. At the end of the passage, there's a huge room with a red viper-looking throne, and on the throne there's a ghost-looking Iksar floating.

He is at 49, and cons indifferent. His name is Emperor Ganak, and here's what he has to say:

You say, 'Hail, Emperor Ganak'

Emperor Ganak says 'Greetings... It has been long since I have been aware on this plane..Who are you and what do you want of I, Ganak, slayer of Jaled-Dar?'

You say, 'What is Veeshan's Peak?'

Emperor Ganak says 'You wish to know of Veeshan's Peak?! You are either very brave or very foolish! There is nothing there for the uninvited but a fiery death. I have been away from this plane of existence for a long time yet still I feel the presence of the ancient wurms. I am sure they sense my presence as well, being as I hold the only [key to the chambers] of the Ring of Scale.'

You say, 'What about the key to the chambers?'

Emperor Ganak says 'I am not so quick to grant someone the key to their death! If you truly wish your doom to fall upon you so soon then bring me the three medallions of the fallen Iksar tribes, Kylong, Obulus, and Jarsath. The tribes were long ago crushed by the warriors of the Kunzar and their remains lye buried beneath ages of rubble. Finding the lost medallions of my people will not be enough to prove your worthy of entry into the fortress of the great wurms there is another task that you must complete before you return the medallions.'

You say, 'What medallions?'

Emperor Ganak says 'There were five different tribes of my people. The Kunzar, Kylong, Nathsar, Obulus, and Jarsath. Each of these tribes had a medallion that represented it. If you can return to me the Medallion of the Kunzar and Nathsar, I will give you the idol of Trakanon.'

You say, 'What task?'

Emperor Ganak says 'Those who enter Veeshans Peak uninvited by the lords of the Ring of Scale become nothing more than a snack for the wurms that dwell within its halls. Once you cross the threshold of the Peak there Is no escape. Any fool dedicated enough to locate the medallions can do so, but it takes a truly mighty individual to slay the dragon that has plagued my people for ages. I speak of the poison dragon Trakanon, the vile undead wurm that has conquered my peoples greatest wurmslayers. Bring me proof of Trakanons death with the medallions I request and I may deem you worthy of the key to the Ring of Scale.'

The medallions of Kunzar and Nathsar drop from the Froglock Hunter and Forager in Trakanon's Teeth. These Mobs spawn one after another, so they are fairly easy to get. Turn in these two medallions and you should get the idol of Trakanon, which will get you into Old Sebilis, where you can find Trakanon. (See Key to Sebilis Quest for a full description)

The quest for Medallion of the Odulus is located in The Burning Woods. The quest for the Medallion of the Kylong is located in the Lake of Ill Omen. The quest for the Jarsarath Medallion is located in the Timorous Deep. The full descriptions are detailed in each quest, and they also involve several subquests. The links to each are to the left.

If you find a piece of medallion, be sure to identify it to see which medallion it belongs to. Once you get all three medallions and Trakanon's tooth, turn them in and you will get you the Key to Veeshan's Peak.

Emperor Ganak says 'I must say, I thought your flesh would be rotting from your bones along side the remains of the ancient Sebisilians. I commend you on your victory over the poison dragon and thank you for returning the ancient medallions of my people. I reward you with the key you seek. A place shall be prepared for your souls among the most honored of the dead. Soon you will be seeing the world through the shroud of death.

Claws of Veeshan faction has no bearing on the faction in VP, VP has ring of scale faction
RE: Veeshan
# Dec 12 2001 at 6:50 PM Rating: Decent
Quite correct...Claws of Veeshan is Velious dragon faction. To raise Ring of Scale faction (handy to avoid having Gore aggro you in DL), kill Mayong's flunkies in Mistmoore castle.

and no, 'Mayong's flunkies' aren't a mob type...just kill Dark Elves in MM.

No, actually, i killed a Mayong Flunky there just last week during a patch with my lvl 65 Troll Bard. Conned even to me and hit for around 10,004 points double attack, but was finally able to take him down when i fear kited him into a wall. And yes I am bored that's why I am posting here.

Just had to say to you qualifier.

ROFLMAO.

If you hadn't put it in I bet there would be a post "what level, how hard, loc?"

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 26 2002 at 3:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Like i said, lvl 65, pretty easy considering it hit for 10,004 points. Spawns at about -9696, -9696 and is on a 4 1/2 year spawn time. Long camp i'd say. Drops a Runed Circlet of Connectivity, protection from linkdeath +5
Something Odd
# Aug 10 2001 at 1:31 AM Rating: Default
Hello all,
I was killing in Skyfire when i noticed that after i killed a Sky Drake that my faction with the Ring of Scale went down. I looked at www.everlore.com and saw that if i wanted to increase my Ring of Scale faction, i have to kill bards (Such as the one at the Spires on North Karana). So... being a Halfling Druid i did'nt care about my faction with bards, so i started killing all the bards i found giving out the <mail delivery> quest. All of which gave a + to Ring of Scale. After about 3 weeks of doing nothing but killing all of these bards i went back to Sky Fire and saw that i was now Indiff con to all mobs there. Wurms, Drakes, everything.
Does this mean that i am no longer KoS in Veeshans peak? I'm currently working on getting the key to VP, so i can finally find out. Of course, i will go in nekid, not wanting to lose
any of my equipment. But i think it would be well worth it to wonder freely about the second most powerful zone in all of Norrath. If you have any thoughts, idea, or POSITIVE comments, please feel free to post.

I have been amiable to RoS faction before, but now I must be kos after klling so many Skyfire mobs. Is it posible to be non-kos to the general mobs in skyfire? Wurms, drakes, wyverns, and so forth? When I was amiable to the named dragons, I was still very kos to the general mobs.. thus leading me to believe those mobs are always kos? Is there anyway to become non kos? cause those mobs are very annoying on travel lol..
In any case, is there a high level zone in which it is possible to raise ros faction? or is Mistmoore the only place where most mobs/all mobs raise the faction? Just some questions........

ring of scale faction will only make you non-kos to the named dragons in VP. you can get this faction from killing in mistmoore. all the other mobs in VP (racnars, guardian urms etc) are KoS to everyone as they are on a different faction.

Ring of scale = gorenaire and such.
Not sure of VP.. I'm pretty sure its meant to be kos in there.

best thing to do to raise faction with ring of scales is to kill people in mistmoore.

LOL That is the stackable Rune of Scale! That Rune of Scale is used in Wizard spell research. The Rune of Scale used in this quest is a totally different item.

Well, I looted one too off a deepwater caiman. I don't think it is stackable. If it was for wizards, why would it be NO DROP? Anyway, i have no clue whether it is used for wizard spell research or not.
RE: Rune of scale

The dropped piece in Oasis is a RUNE of Scale.

Tha Faction for Skyfire, et.al. is RING of Scale.

See the difference?

It's not for spell research, it is used in a Wizard quest. It is an item needed to get the runescale cloak. Check it out here...

Still the hardest?
# Jul 13 2001 at 4:31 PM Rating: Decent
Is Veeshan's Peak still the highest lvl Dungeun? Or do Sleepers Tomb, Temple of Veeshan, Plane of Mischeif, Other Velious zone I may have missed, surpass it in difficulty?
RE: Still the hardest?
# Jul 27 2001 at 4:35 PM Rating: Default
Not sure about PoM, but Veeshan's Peak is worse than the temple and I believe that Sleepers tomb holds THE single most powerful mob....I guess there's just plenty of level 60+ dragons in Peak that will take you out in seconds. What's worse, one unkillable mob, or 20 mobs that take 20 mins to kill each?
RE: Still the hardest?
# Sep 17 2002 at 4:29 AM Rating: Decent
As I finally got to PoM myself a couple days ago, I can say that the mobs in PoM are not hard at all, in fact once you can get in there, you'll find a few people who stick around just for exp, the majority of the mobs con indiff to everyone, and the exp is fairly good, so nice little EXP zone that isn't overcamped... the only thing preventing people from coming to PoM like PoH/PoF is the low drop rate, combined with all items needing to be quested rather then simply looted, and ofcourse having to go deep in the heart of the North Wing of Temple of Veeshan to get there.

well, I wasnt playing as Harnak (Was playing my friend's Higher lvl Ranger when he was in bathroom heh heh), but I took part on a ToV raid, and the lowest lvl stuff, all around 55-60, took about 3 minutes each to kill, but they were very abbundant. We didn't fight a single named MoB the entire time, and one of the un-named dragons killed most of the raid party. Well, I guess I should be thankful that at least we didn't fight any named stuff. I hear that Lindaria the Keeper is pretty angry.

Mages can also cast identify, just so you know. And actually, i've only played a few months now and i'm level 50...so saying they won't get this item in the next year is a touch off Mr. anti-n00b.

A silvery mask is a quest reward item in Kael Drakkel i believe and is ac 5 hp +25 clickable unlimited identify and can be used by any class....best of all it is not no drop so i was able to buy one for 275 pp. A neat toy for any non- indentify capable classes like me. :)

of Wizard only armor, given out in the Temple
in Lavastorm. Has nothing to do with the

Im new and I am lvl 19 i played for 14 days i dont understand the concept of the dungeon when they say it is hard to get out what do they mean you cant walk.. same thing with the planes. cant u gate or teleport or evacuate pls icq me 24274762 with the answers to these questions also is the key only good once hehe the though of killing the poison dragon for one shot in this "hell zone" makes not much sense to me!
RE: q/a
# Jan 19 2001 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
also the key doesn't only work once and is 'soulbound' which means that even if you die up there you will still have the key on you after you die.
RE: q/a
# Nov 28 2000 at 9:28 PM Rating: Default
what it means is that your gate spells will not work at all. And if you die and can't return you might end up losing your stuff. This zone needs alot of people to take...
RE: q/a

I heard like 40 ppl killed 2 dragon inside on Drinal, silverwing and the Xelxxxx
RE: q/a
# Apr 10 2002 at 9:40 AM Rating: Default
Must be really weak people on Drinal, if you're making a big deal about Silverwing being killed by 40 people, and he's the weakest dragon there is. Not so impressive when just 4 wizards killed Hoshkar on Povar. (then again Hoshkar isn't that bad either...)

FYI, 4 MB Wizards took Phara Dar out on Drinal.
