This quest begins with Cobi Frostbeard in Thurgadin. He's found in an unmarked shop: After zoning in, cross both bridges, turn left towards the bank, then (at the bank) hang a right. He'll be in the fifth shop on the left.
You say, 'Hail, Cobi Frostbeard' Cobi Frostbeard says 'Greetings to you. I seek one who calls himself a druid. What do you call yourself, manling?' You say, 'I call myself a druid' Cobi Frostbeard says 'Good. I had hoped you were one. As nature's guardian, you fight the never-ending struggle against those who seek to defile it. It is an admirable quality and I wish to aid you. I will provide you with a cap, a tunic, sleeves, bracers, gloves, leggings and boots.' You say, 'What leggings?' (response?) Cobi promises to make you some Leggings if you bring him Eroded Leather Leggings and three Chipped Onyx Sapphires. Chipped Onyx Sapphires are dropped in various Velious zones while Eroded Leather armor drops from the higher level giants in Kael Drakkel. Cobi Frostbeard smiles warmly as he hands you your reward. 'You have done well, _____.' Your faction standing with Coldain got better. Your faction standing with Dain Frostreaver IV got better. Your faction standing with Kromzek got worse. Hey guys I think that quest is really worth but I just wanna know about what lvl giants in Kael are? I'm 52 druid atm but do you think I could take them now or wait 2 more levels? Thanks!
No, you cannot solo in Kael unless you want to die.
The Eroded Leather drops of the Giants in the Arena and thus, you need at least 2 if not more groups to raid there.
As for the Quest Gems needed, you can solo in Cobalt Scar for the following Gems:
Chipped Onyx Sapphire x3 for the Leggings
Crushed flame Emerald x3 for the Boots
Crushed Lava Ruby x3 for the Gloves
Crushed Onyx Sapphire x3 for the Helm
Crushed Opal x3 for the Bracer
Jaundice Gem x3 for the Arms
Black Marble is used for the Breasplate and this is the last piece needed to complete the Armour quest. This gem can be found in the following zones:
Dragon Necropolis
Siren's Grotto
Velketor's Labyrinth

Yes, a 52 druid can get this armor solo. Lieutenants drop pieces too and they can spawn in the bank area. I nearly have a full set of plate, leather, and several chain off the bank area. I doubt, though, that I'll see a bp drop.

there shud be 2 cobalt scars lol... with the gems and great exp everyone is in the small zone, half trying to quad... but yes it is great exp and can get jewels...dont expect any crushed from there though unless u attack treasure chest, the wyverns and drakes DO NOT drop crushed.

Best way to get the eroded armor is to raid it with ur guild. Then u lvl 45+ ppl got a chance in hell to get it.
Have pulled all types of gems off Wyverns & drakes in CS. Chipped, Flawed, Flawless & crushed.

From the exploits of my friend, you need to be at least indifferent to Cobi. She turned the items in, with Apprehensive faction, and he kept the items, with nothing in return.
So you need to fight Giants or something else that will raise Thurg's faction.

You can start gathering the items as soon as you are able to kill the mobs, 40 in a good group should get you some gems, but should you get the items dont turn them in until after 50, Cobi will tell you that you are not ye powerful enough to obtain such an item.

OMG,so many newbs asking where this armor and gems drop! I got 3 words for you people,READ THE POSTS!!!! Eroded leather=drops in kael drakkel!Gems (all gem zones that i know of) Sirens Grotto,Velketor,Cobalt Scar,Icewell.

I have got several crushed gems by soloing suit of sentient armor in WL. (57 druid) The xp is slow, but since once in every 2-4 hours they drop a gem, it is a very profitable camp.

Fought in Cobalt Scar for a few days now, and guess what? EVERY Single gem is here, except for the diamonds, which i have not gotten, yet could be here. I have received Chipped, Flawed AND Crushed. I have gotten at least 4 of every single gem here. A tip of advice is keep all the gems you get and if you have good PoG faction go there to sell the gems. All of the gems i have sold go for 48pp to the vendors there.

I would suppose it depends a lot on what server you are on. On FV you can get most gems for about 100pp in the bazaar.

The Chipped Onyx Sapphires drop off of Wyverns in CS, they are great exp for soloing and drop a leg/arms gem for all classes. I have gotten a gem off of about every 10th mob. at 49 it was 3 Wyverns for a blue bub by the way. Good luck with your questing.

Just to let u all know the Chipped Onyx Sapphires also dropped for me off of the Othmirs, don't remember what kind though think it was a shaman. Killed all day and got one though so they are kinda rare off of them

Hey open your eyes and stop ******* people. And LISTEN UP. The armor drops in Kael Drakkel, off of VARIOUS mobs...there is no damn named mob that it drops off of. This ain't Befallen anymore kids. Been on many successful raids into Kael to the arena, were still feeling the area out, but it is a known fact that it is all random. Do not go there expecting to find the wonderous named mob that is going to drop the armor.
I visited Cobalt Scar for gems, and after some serious good experience and some serious good money, I walked away with an assortment of gems; about 14 different types, chipped, flawed, but NO crushed. CRushed comes from the other dungeons (ie read above pls other posts). I've gathered about 4-5 of each kind now. Just watch out for those Cobalt Drakes if your around 45. They pack a nasty punch.

Crushed Onyx Saphires DO....and i do repeat DO drop in Cobalt scar. Ive been quad kiting there for a 4lvls or so and i have 3 on me and have traded away and sold 5 others. The majority of the gem drops are junk though. So far from what i've seen ONLY the arms and leggins gem's drop here for each class. AT least off teh wyverns and drakes. I heard the Treasure chest drop any gem randomly but so far i've yet to see them drop even one.

ive seen all types of gems drop all over the place in zones that are lvl 40+, a friend got quite a few soloing in CS in a day or 2, including 2 chipped onyx sapphires,
but all BP/Tunic/robe gems drop in higher lvl dungeons such as dragon necropolis, ToV and maybe off the higher lvl things in Icewell but i dont know about this, just an assumption.

Got eroded leggings tonight in Kael outside the Arena. And no I don't remember the giants name because he was a nobody. Spent all week in Kael and got eroded leather arms and legs. The arms came from a frost giant berserker who we killed at the WL entrance. The guy for the legs was also a random giant that popped outside the arena. It appears that eroded leather pieces..the best ones are dropped near the arena and the lower pieces can be dropped from any giant around the entrances to Kael.
As for the gems..no clue there..my guild vaults all gems we get and they are free to anyone in guild that needs them when their quest pieces drop. Nobody remembers where we got the chipped onyx sapphires...but probably from Icewell, or DN.

Yes, they are NO DROP and Yes, you can solo some of the giants at EW entrance area. You can't kite them, but you can root cook them. Use your twenties root as it will last longer than your 39 one and will work. Snare, Root, DoT, reroot when DoT wears off or root breaks.
Erroded Leather drops random off of ANY of the giants in this zone.

Not sure about the No drop BUT no way on the kiting Number one its indoors number 2 they are like lvl 53
I was told that only the giants in Kael drop this, and probably only the ones from deep inside. So you would need a couple of groups of ~50th level to hang around in there and kill stuff. They are tough creatures indeed.

This is a greate hint that you could get a 7wis 70mana pants from a guy called Cobi, if you give him some stuff.
Tika told us where to do what quest, and what we need to get those nice iteams!
And yes it is very nice if the submitter tells us exactly what mob that drops what, and loc and zone of that mob, and even include spawn rate!
But dont count on it!

I have seen the ALL the gems for epic armor also drop inside icewall keep lvl50+ dungeon that is under Thurgadin. 2 full groups of 50+ is best if your going in more than a few feet past the zone ent.

Hey, like it or not, this IS armor for level 55+, and the eroded pieces you're looking for drop in (among other places) Kael Drakkal off level 55+ giants. Remember, as far as we know, this is the equivalent to the stuff that people are getting in the Plane of Growth. So, to the person whining about this quest being for level 55+ folks: deal with it, and get crackin'. You've got some work to do.
Also, as far as we know, the eroded leather is no drop. Auctioning will do you no good.

Eroded Leather pieces drop off 45+ giants not 55+, and if you think you it was designed for 55+ folks get real. Doubt you'll see many folks under 50 with it but easilly done with a well balanced group of around 50th level folks.
Sure it would be nice if it was a piece of cake, but look at the items...

Gems also drop off the Kobolds in Velketors Labrynth.

WHERE the hell do you get the eroded leather and crushed gems? I went to crysal caverns thinking they mine it and giant zone thinking maybe they sit on it but nothing. I even ran around auctioning to buy them!
