After completing the quest for your Shackle of Stone, Master Raska mentioned that you need to see Master Niska, who may be found at 456, 32 in the Court of Pain.

    You say, 'Hail, Master Niska'

Master Niska bows with elegance and grace. You can see her arms rippling with muscles. 'Greetings. We are the Swifttails. We are the harnessers of the elements. We are the tails of discipline. To achieve rebirth into our caste is a great honor indeed. We can be identified by our adornments. You should display that which we have given you to adorn your arms with pride. You do have your bracer, correct?'

You say, 'I want the Shackle of Rock.'

Master Niska strikes within inches of your snout with amazing speed. 'The shackle of rock is your interest? Then learn well our ways and prepare yourself. If the stone embraces your wrist, you are ready indeed. To complete the second rung you must find for me the [Fists of Talon].'

You say, 'What are the Fists of Talon?'

Master Niska points to the Court Chronicler. 'All that is known of Talon has been chronicled. Should you obtain the fists then you shall hand them to me. This shall earn you the shackle of rock.'

Purchase the book named "Talon Southpaw" (identifies as "Scribed by Rinmark") from the Court Chronicler nearby at 363, 48, across the courtyard from Master Niska. It reads:

    Talon Southpaw

Talon Southpaw was the fastest pugilist ever to walk within the Court of Pain. His speed rivaled that of the great Grandmaster Tynn. He could often be found within the local taverns demonstrating the awesome speed of his left fist.

Talon Southpaw came to rebirth within this caste. Although quick with fist and tail, the speed of his left arm was not to come to blossom for a couple of decades past his rebirth. It was to follow his captivity by the accursed sarnak.

Soon after fulfilling the Rung of Tynn, Talon went on a wandering retreat into the dangerous outlands of Kunark. He was not heard from for a total of 5 seasons. Upon his return to Cabilis he told of his captivity within an ancient city of the Iksar now claimed by the sarnak.

    He told of intense torture.

    He survived the ordeal.

He escaped from the claws of the sarnak with numerous scars which proved his painful ordeal. Most of the worst scars were never seen.

Talon wore a robe which he never removed. The scars underneath were for no lizard's eyes. His great perseverance gave him an inner strength no other monk could lay claim to.

He now possessed incredible, almost blinding speed with his left arm. He could trap a foe's arm with his left and strike with it as if he had a third arm! He was indeed a paragon of the Swifttails. All in the empire either respected or feared him. None would spar him outside of the taverns. With grog comes stupidity.

Upon his death in Kurn, Grandmaster Tynn removed his hands in a private ceremony. Only Tynn was allowed to gaze upon Talon's body. The fists were then sealed in a canopic which would stay within the Tower of Kurn. His body was dusted. This is his tale as told by Rinmark.

Klok Poklon may be found at +910, -70, on the first floor of the house near the castle.

    You say, 'Hail, Klok Poklon'

Klok Poklon says 'Greetings, thirsty traveler. Pull up a stool and lay yer copper down. It's time to drink and be merry. Just don't get too merry or I will have to call the troopers.'

You say, 'Who was Talon Southpaw?'

Klok Poklon feints with two quick left hooks!! 'Talon Southpaw. He had the fastest hands in the empire. I remember he once beat another lizard in an arm wrestling match. The amazing thing was, while he was gripping the croak's left hand, he left-hooked him without losing his hold!! That's quick!! I hear one of his treasured hands is in the possession of a monk called Master Rinmark.'

You say, 'Where is Master Rinmark?'

Master Bain resides in the Court of Pain at 293, -49.

Master Bain says 'Seeking Master Rinmark? He has left the Court of Pain. Gone to focus his thoughts on the elements of wind and thunder. I believe he was headed toward the Overthere. That was the last I heard of his trek.'

Find "an Iksar master" in the Timorous Deep at -5055, +2790.

You say, 'Hail, an Iksar master'

an Iksar master is humming and chanting softly. He seems oblivious to your presence.

You say, 'Are you Master Rinmark?'

an Iksar master squints one eye open, then returns to his meditation.

You say, 'Who was Talon Southpaw?'

an Iksar master waves his arms in the air. 'The great master. His soul is the wind. He speaks to us in words of thunder. He strikes Norrath with bolts of lightning. I seek to be as he is. I have traveled the globe in search of his fists. I have found only one. Another is said to be with [Gomoz]. I shall return it when I am finished with my seasons-long meditation or perhaps I shall find a monk to [return the hand to Cabilis].'

    You say, 'Who is Gomoz?'

an Iksar master says 'Disciple Gomoz was once Talon Southpaw's pupil. It is rumored that he has only one hand. Unfortunately, a horde of ogre raiders swiped his bones, along with others, from their place in Kurn's Tower. What those simple oafs plan to do with them is a mystery. Only one who has studied the arcane sciences could use them. They most likely used them as soup bones.'

You say, 'I will return the hand to Cabilis.'

an Iksar master hands you an old tattered sack. 'This shall be your proof of allegiance. Prove that you are strong with an intact mandible of a skulking brutling and the claws of a burynai excavator. Prove that you are a monk of fist and tail with a sash of an exiled human monk and the sparring gloves of a goblin pit fighter. Combined, these items make the sack full. This will earn my trust and the hand.'

You receive a Tattered Sack from Rinmark, a 4-slot container. Acquire Excavator Claws (identifies as "Burynai Excavator Claws," dropped by various burynai), Intact Brutling Choppers (dropped by a skulking brutling in Warsliks Wood), Torn Sash (identifies as "Exiled Monk Sash," dropped by a young ronin in South Ro), and Goblin Sparring Gloves (dropped by a goblin pit fighter in Warsliks Wood). Combine them to create a Full Sack for Master (identifies as "property of Rinmark"). Hand this in.

an Iksar master bows before you and takes a wrinkled, mummified hand from a pouch at his side. 'Take the hand. Let it rest within Cabilis and be reunited with the left.'
Your faction standing with Swift Tails has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!

You receive Iksar Right Hand '=|-' (identifies as "Right Hand of Talon Southpaw").

Find The Great Oowomp elsewhere in the Timorous Deep at +5725, +3120.

You say, 'Hail, The Great Oowomp'

The Great Oowomp gestures as if casting a powerful spell. 'Come forward, adventurer! Come and [see the dancing skeleton]. I shall cast a powerful spell and bring forth this operatic, clattering jumble of bones and he shall do a fine dance for you. From the nether regions and planes beyond, I call forth this bardic, magical, rhyming, tap-dancing hunk of undead!! I am Oowomp the Great!!'

You say, 'I want to see the dancing skeleton.'

The Great Oowomp says 'Oh!! You wish to see the great Oowomp perform his magic!! I have studied with the grand mages and wise [McMerin clan] of Norrath, as my speech implies. I can call forth the skeleton with but a twinkling of my power and five of your gold.'

Give him 5g (or any equivalent money).

The Great Oowomp flings the coins into the air and they all fall neatly into his oversized coin pouch. 'Gaze in awe at my awesome powers of the arcane!! You, a simple citizen, shall see my power. Allakabam!!'

The Great Oowomp begins to cast a spell.

A dancing skeleton's body pulses with energy.

You say, 'Hail, a dancing skeleton'

a dancing skeleton begins to dance with a loud clatter. A cloud of dust is created. Teedle dee. Teedle doo.

a dancing skeleton says 'A dancing skeleton am I.'

a dancing skeleton says 'Dancing for you and dancing for me.'

    You say, 'Are you Gomoz?'

a dancing skeleton says 'Gomoz!! Why, that is me! I was heading off to be with the elements when I was captured by this smelly ogre. Actually, he is not as smelly as most.'

a dancing skeleton says 'Dancing for the great Oowomp!! Wheee!!'

You say, 'Who was Talon Southpaw?'

a dancing skeleton says 'Master Talon Southpaw!! He was my master. Dead, he became. Off to the elements. I keep his special hand with me. Perhaps I should have it returned. Maybe I shall find a young adventurer to [return the hand to Cabilis].'

You say, 'I will return the hand to Cabilis.'

a dancing skeleton says 'Yes!! Return the hand. Here it is. Missing four it is. Within the tower of past pain and torture is where the four lie. Taken by bones similar to myself.'

a dancing skeleton says 'Dancing and singing is my life!!'

You receive a "hand with one only a thumb" [sic] (identifies as "Palm of Talon Southpaw").

Head to Kurn's Tower and keep killing the fingered skeleton until you have looted:

A Withered 2.5 Inch Finger (identifies as "Finger 3 Of Talon's Hand")
A Withered 3 Inch Finger (identifies as "Finger 2 Of Talon's Hand")
A Withered 3.1 Inch Finger (identifies as "Finger 1 Of Talon's Hand")
A Withered 4 Inch Finger (identifies as "Finger 4 Of Talon's Hand")

Combine these in the hand container to craft an Iksar Left Hand '=|-' (identifies as "Left Hand of Talon Southpaw.").

Finally, an Iksar Left Hand '=|-' (identifies as "an Iksar Left Hand") drops from a Sarnak courier in the Lake of Ill Omen.

Hand in the three hands to Master Niska.

Master Niska shakes her head. 'Tsk, tsk, tsk. There were more of Talon's Fists than this. Only by gathering all of his fists shall you earn the shackle of rock and bring you closer to the third rung.'

Master Niska shakes her head. 'Tsk, tsk, tsk. There were more of Talon's Fists than this. Only by gathering all of his fists shall you earn the shackle of rock and bring you closer to the third rung.'

Master Niska removes a crudely hewn shackle. 'This is yours. It is one of the keys to the third rung. I see that you are truly a great monk and have studied your disciplines well. I have need of one such as you. I have heard of [troubles with an outlander].'

Your faction standing with Swift Tails got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got better.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 1 gold from Master Niska.

You receive the Shackle of Rock.

I used this page to complet my quest, and I must say, it is correct. NOT unsloved as the top of the page says. As of Feb. 16 of 2001, Zbreadtosser of the Tarew Marr server has this bracer, those in doubt, do not fear, doing everything here will get you the bracer

I got eveything but the brutlings. I've had druids, rangers, blah, blah, killed everything at the bandit lake and the wandering stuff all the way to the fort(except giants of course). AND I DON'T SEE ANY!!!. Anyone have an idea where they might spawn?

I must have been very lucky here. I was in the Warsilks Woods about 10 min and was killin all the goblins in a certain camp, attempting to get a pit fighter to spawn. While ther about 2 min here comes a skulking brutling. Killed the little tyke and low and behold, it dropped the intact brutling choppers. I killed 3 more while I was there do to uncertainty of wheather the choppers were what I needed and of the 4 total I killed, 3 of them dropped the intact choppers.
I believe it to be a matter of luck. The pit fighter was the hardest mob for me to find but I eventually found him at the above mentioned gob ruin with the path that runs through it, shortly before I was about to give up and leave the zone du to undue stress haha. Good luck to all of you Iksar monks out there doing or thinking about doing the quest. I completed it without a snag and am now a proud owner of the shackle of rock. Take care all and continue to follow the ways of the Swifttail Clan. Oh and a correction or amendment of the fact for the Young Ronin. It is much faster to kill him in Oasis instead of SRO. He spawns much more frequently in Oasis. I spent over 4 hours in SRO the first time I camped him and never saw him in that time. I camped almost 3 hours the second time and someone in zone told me to go to Oasis to camp em and as soon as I zoned into Oasis, sent out an OOC and someone had just killed him. I looted the sash and about 10 min later he was killed again. Good luck on this as well.

I know some people have trouble with this part of the quest, but I must've got lucky...

When hunting giants at their fort, I got bored and strolled up to Bandit Lake. Less than 5 minutes after I got there, and having only killed one goblin witchdoctor, a skulking brutling walked up to the lake. I killed him and got - yep, intact skulking brutling chompers!

First off let me start out by saying that this has got to be the BIGGEST pain in the.. I guess Verant thinks that IKS + MNK = RGR or some kind of other fuzzy math.

    Anyways,

Pitfighter- Spawns in fort (same as grach) in WW. Very Rare. Got him to finally spawn in the first tent on left after going across bridge and exiting the bldg on the right.

Bruteling- Yes these mystical creatures do exist. Yes the choppers ARE different than those from a brute or pygmy so you have to get one from an actually brutling. I killed all the wanderers near bandit lake in WW to get them to spawn. Goblin bonecasters and runtlings appear to be the placeholders for the elusive bruteling as I never saw a bruteling and one of these creatures together. I would still suggest killing all the wanderers though. Took two bruteling (and 4 hours) to get the choppers.

Exiled monk- cake. derv camp, kill all spawns, repeat, he will spawn. I got him in Oasis.

    Burnayi claw- duh

Fingers- In the little alcove or crevice between the cook and the wandering burnayi forager (between 2 and 3 on eqatlas map) hallways is where the fingered skellie spawns. He drops 4 different withered fingers. 4", 3", 3.1", and 2.5". Those are what you need. PH'ed by various skellies and burnayi but only spawn is in the alcove.

Dancing Skellie, Great Oowoomp- I killed the raider near where the Oowoomp spawns then snuck in behind him and handed in my 5gp. Dancing skellie spawned and Oowoomp was no longer aggro to me. Hailing the skellie does nothing, you actually have to ask him about Talon Southpaw just like you did with Rinmark to get anywhere.

All I have left after, oh 20 hours or so of pretending to be able to track is the courier. Ppl in zone have confirmed that he does spawn on the hill NW of the windmill but have yet to see him. Plan to kill all 2 legged things in the area between that hill, the lake, and the waterfall. Will post if that prooves unsuccessful.

    Good luck and happy frustrating...
    Ok finished quest.
    # Jan 19 2001 at 9:40 PM Rating: Default
The easiest item to get is the excavators claw so no one should have any problems with this. Tha skulking brutlings do spawn near the bandit lake but not all the time. I always find them along the ridge lines south of the lake. The pitfighter spawns inside the fort or outside at the ruins with one spawn. Fingered skeletons spawn where the hallway to the cook is. And the young ronin spawns at the Dervish camps...found mine right away in northwest corner of oasis. The hardest part of the quest is getting the container fist from Gomoz. The Great Oowoomp is aggro, he will attck. You sneak up on him (the other ogres are static and don't wander) and give him the 5 g. He will then trun his back to you to summon the skelleton. Now the easiest way is to attack him and run. When He is not casting a spell at you feign death and press f9 till you can look around and see where the orge is. When he goes back to his spot then get up. When you hail Gomoz you HAVE to ask "Are you Gomoz" if you don't he aggro's again and so does the rest of the ogres. After asking the question you should be in a good spot to follow the rest of the thread and get the fist. Hope this helps.

    # Feb 02 2001 at 2:59 AM Rating: Default
The Great Oowomp is NOT aggro...what everyone is having problems with is the raider in the hutt BEHIND Oowomp..he's the one who aggro's..and once he does he drag's Oowomp with him. I went there and found two people killing Oowomp..so after they killed I went and killed the raider (who, by the way, has a much longer spawn time than Oowomp)...when Oowomp repopped I just walked right up to him..gave him 5gp and talked to the skeleton..I said two and only two lines

    "tell me about Talon Southpaw"
"I will return the fist to cabilis"

I am a level 11 iksar monk doing the shackle of rock quest and I was just wondering WHAT ARE THE MAKERS OF EVERQUEST THINKING!!! At level 6 i had the shackle of stone (I paid a guy 2pp a skipper stone and 20 bone chips for the masks) and i checked to get the shackle of rock and i spend about a plat buying all the books looking for info and i find it is in the tower of kurn so i shout in the FoB what level i should be to take the tower of kurn on and they tell me 12 so at 9 i get about 5 other 8-11 levelers and we go into kurns tower we camp every floor and i can't find the fists so i go to this site (my first online site for EQ) and find out i have to go through all this nonsense to get an item thats heavier thats just as strong as the shackle before it I was used to easy quests (Kill iksar bandits take the masks, kill a sabertooth cub take the tooth etc...) and now they give me this day long quest with enemies 2x as tough as the ones before and i have looked at the other monks they don't jump that much. I am new to everquest and this is my first charecter and i am wondering am i just complaing for nothing? are the quests always going to be this anoying? and What were the people at EQ thinking don't they know that there is a lot of newbies that don't know the system that well and if i wern't as diehard an rpger as i am i would have just made another charecter or stop paying them their money every month.
    Well thats my two copper

Yeap, your just a complaining newbie, I, an Iksar monk at lvl 17 completed this quest, all you honestly need for this quest is feign death and yes is does have the same stats as shackle of stone, BUT this is the kicker. Compare these quests to monk sashs, each time you complete one it leads to nother, which has better stats then the previous one, but you need to have the previous one to progress, understand? I did this quest untwinked and with no help and I was pretty damn satisified when I completed it. Enjoy playing your iksar monk and stop getting so frustrated.

Has anybody figured what makes this thing spawn. I have hunted near the windmill for like four hours, killing everything in sight and still no courier. Eveybody in the zone is starting to get sick of me. HELP! Sidenote: It bafles me as to why this spawn is hard to come by when the reward isn't that nice. Only reason I'm doing it is to get the other shackles. Crazy huh! >:-| My 1cp.

I totally agree with you. I have been doing the same thing and even shouting in the zone if anyone has seen it. Pretty sad for a 32 monk to be running around killing everything that is extremely easy. On top of it I always get annoying smartasses who say after I shout, "Don't kill him I am having him deliver a note for me!" SMACK!

I don't know if this was changed in the last patch, or whether it's old news, but the Great Oowomp conned indifferent to me when I went to get the container from the dancing skeleton. The other ogres in the area were still KoS, so you'll still need to be careful, but oowomp being indiff made this part of the quest a whole lot easier than I expected.

Also, a word of warning, if you ever follow the west wall in Warslilk's in either direction to or from OT zone, be veryveryveryvery (did I mention very?) careful running. Due to the many branches obscuring your view, you wont be able to see where you're running.

The problem specifically is the numerous 'mob traps' along the wall. What happens is, mobs spawn where they spawn, and wander into the vicinity of these locations and start doing the linkdeath dance (player running aimlessly around in circles prior to disconnecting) in place. A couple times now I've died zipping recklessly through the trees and plowing through groups of 6 or 7 mobs (usually manslayers, aggressors, and occasionally a brutling or two), and getting gangbanged.

Of course, if you're higher level than say, 25 or so, this shouldn't be an issue.
never had a brutling or a brute aggro on me..

Discovered today that the Warbone Skellies that spawn and wander in front of Sarnak fort in LoIO drop these like crazy. For the 30 minutes I fought there today, each of the 4 warbones we killed dropped a fist!! They were called 'a skeleton fist', and they were Lore with no other stats (other than the monk-convenient weght of 0.2).

Now, I haven't actually tried to combine yet, so I can't say with 100% certainty that's its the right fist, but I will certainly let everyone know if it works. =) Unless, of course, someone's already tried these, in which case, please inform us. =)

    __________________________________________________________________________

After posting this I looked around some more info and notice the fist being referred to as 'Left Fist'. Can someone verify if that's the name of the fist dropped by the courier? Or is it just called 'a skeleton fist'?

Hi guys. I read the shackle quests originally when they werent complete and just put the igredient list in the back of my mind, knowing thta someday I would do the quests for my monk. I killed the warbones that drop the fist in LoIO and also the currier and took his drop too and stashed it away in the locker. The problem is...Now I dont remember which fist came from what guy. One looks like a spider claw and the other looks like a bunyai fist. Which is the correct one for the shackle of rock quest?

    Thankye! =)

To elaborate on this for any other readers, it does indeed need to be the fist dropped from the Sarnak Courier.

Incidentally, the exact name of this item when examined (not indentified, just the regular name of it) is 'an iksar fist', with a little text hand at the end of the name.

In fact, ALL the fists are named that, with the exception of each having a unique text hand at the end of the name.
    Skulking choppers and pitfighter gloves
    # Dec 24 2000 at 8:32 AM Rating: Default
Very easy to get these two items.

First, for the skulking choppers, instead of searching for roaming skulkings, simply go inside the tunnels to dalnir and there are 5+ static skulking brutes on something like a 12 min timer.

For the pitfighter gloves, he only spawns 2 places that I know of. One, inside the goblin fort, when you go over the bridge into that first house...take a right and out and immediately to your left is a tent with one spawn, he spawns there. Second, on the other entrance (NOT the bridge entrance), go back from teh gate and the spikey things along the road a little ways and there's a broke house thing with one spawn in it, he can spawn here too.

    # Jan 18 2001 at 10:34 PM Rating: Default
As they have said before skulking BRUTLING....not brute.

The Pitfighter does indeed spawn in a tent left of the non bridge entrance. As well as a battlemaster. If you can beat a battlemaster and the pitfighter in the same fight then you can use sneak to get there and get the gloves. I have not done it yet but I have managed to start the fight with just the pitfighter and battlemaster. One at a time at 20th level is fine but both I cannot yet kill. Hope this helps getting these gloves.

Hrmm...every skulking brute that I've managed to con at level 20 was red. Also, the item you need to get for this quest is specific to the creature - Ie, intact skulking brutling choppers only drop from...you guessed it, skulking brutlings. Just like pygmy skulking brutes drop intact pygmy skulking brute choppers. I would hazard a guess that skulking brutes drop skulking brute choppers, if they drop choppers at all, which is not the component needed for this quest.

I have never heard of an item called 'skulking choppers', nor can I verify their existence on *any* EQ support site. Please try and post information that you have verified and know FOR CERTAIN to be true. This is NOT the place for speculation, and especially not for a great big pain-in-the-rump quest like this one.

As for the pitfighter gloves information, I can't verify or dispute the pitfighter spawning inside the gob fort, although I can't fathom that it wouldn't spawn in there. However, I can verify the single-spawn ruins outside the fort. That's exactly where I got my gloves. =)

    # Dec 22 2000 at 9:30 AM Rating: Decent
Just spent 1 hour zoning back and forth from oasis and sro to get the torn sash from this ronin. Was actually about to give up cause i was bored and not wanting to kill green trash when i made one last swing by the derv camp in oasis all the way in the SW corner of the zone. killed him np at lv 30 and now am going to try and get the pitfighter gloves. also got the brutling choppers by camping right by the ruins in WW next to the iksar outcast ruins in the NE corner of that zone
    why
    # Dec 15 2000 at 8:45 AM Rating: Decent
Why did they make such a usless item such a pain to get. I mean, think about it. It will take you hours to get all the items for this. THe young ronin?? That has nothing to do with Iksar, he's in friggin oasis. I think its a waste of time. I truely hope someone of import sees this and tries to make more usful item quests in the cities. This is a quest that should not exist.
    RE: why
    # Mar 26 2001 at 5:34 AM Rating: Decent
The path of the Monk is not always easy. Actully it is never easy. That is what bring about our patience and determination. The quests are not for an item to just boost your AC. They are for an item that boosts you standing in you caste. If it were an easy journey, everbody would want to be a Monk. If AC is all your after, all you really need is platnium. Any class can get that.
    RE: why
    # Dec 22 2000 at 9:58 AM Rating: Decent
true all these shackle quests are not that great but the final one with an ac of 9 and wt .2 is very nice. besides the simple fact of pride from getting that item. I'd have more pride from a decent quest item like that then the bought trance stick.
    Young Ronin?
    # Nov 28 2000 at 5:03 AM Rating: Decent
I have seen him once in SRO long time ago. I have read he is in Oasis as well.
    1. Does he spanw in both zones?
    2. If so and tricks to get him to spawn?
    3. Is he a roamer? in both zones?

I have finished this quest and have the shackle of rock.

Found Ronin in Oasis - had a ranger track him for me :)

yes he spawns in both zones.
I got him to spawn in the derv camp at neg 900,1000
i had to kill the dervs to make him pop

    Clarification Please
    # Nov 26 2000 at 4:30 PM Rating: Decent
I have read all these post and I would just like clarification on several points.
    1. Can we use "intact mandible" or "intact brutling choppers" (not pigmy chopper)?
    2. Do the mandible/choppers drop off only skulking Brutlings?
    3. Do they drop in either Warslik Woods and/or Frontier Mtns?
    4. When u get all 4 items and combine them in Master Rinmarks(an iksar master) bag do u give Master Rinmark the bag to get a fist?
    5. When u get all four fingers(2.5, 3, 3.1, 4) and get the Bag? (from the dancing skel Gomoz?) do u hand the skel the bag after u combine them to get a fist?
    thx for your help
    Connell

I would remove this but dont know how.
I have finished this quest and have the shackle of rock :)

Big grats on getting this shackle!!! =) It's a HUGE pain...hehe....but well worth the notch in your stick since they're the higher shackle component. Just so there's no confusion to others reading this though, lemme answer these for ya.

    1. No, you cannot use an 'intact mandible' or 'intact brutling choppers'. It has to specifically be 'intact skulking brutling choppers'.
    2. Yes, they only drop from skulking brutlings.
    3. Warslilk's Woods - Got mine from a brutling near the bandit lake towards the SW of the zone.
    4. Yes. (The 4 items being pitfighter gloves, intact skulking brutling choppers, torn sash, and excavator claw).
    5. No. You save the completed fist (yes, you combine them) for Master Niska (the fem monk master in Court of Pain) to turn in with the other two fists.
    Dealing with ompah
    # Nov 16 2000 at 2:46 AM Rating: Decent
I just conned the great oompah and he was red at level 28. I highly suggest that you have sneak maxed out. When approaching him make sure there is not another ogre in the hut. I learned by experience, sneak worked on oompah but not the ogre. Which attacked me then caused oompah to attack, he does cast magic and he killed me.
Next make "Who is Talon Southpaw" and "I will return the fist to Cabilis" a hot key. once you get the fist get the heck out of there. Keep fd ready.
Intact sulking brutling chompers work just fine for the mandibles.

*blinks a few times* The great oompah (sp?) killed you? Does anyone know if they changed his faction recently or something because he was indifferent to me when I approached him and handed him the 5 gold, non-sneaking. I found getting the container to be rather easy after I pulled the skeleton away and feigned death to keep the other ogres from attacking me (now those guys scowled at me). I hadn't done any faction boosting with ogres to my knowledge and had in fact spent several minutes killing ogre raiders and whatnot while I waited for the big guy to spawn.
    why bother?
    # Nov 02 2000 at 3:19 PM Rating: Default
Frustrated because the shackle of rock is a rediculous quest with a crappy reward? Just looking to get to the higher shackles? Then don't bother doing any of the first ones, go straight to master Niska, tell him "i will be your personal courier" and he'll start you on the shackle of bronze quest. Not quite as long as the shackle of rock quest and you get a nice reward.

    Copper.... Steel ??
    # Nov 06 2000 at 1:06 AM Rating: Default
Because if you don't bother, you'll never do the Shackle of Copper or Steel quests.

You CAN jump straight to the Bronze (because it's a standalone quest), but you'll never go higher.

For the Copper shackle you need Rock + Stone.

For the Steel shackle you need Copper + Bronze.

Saying that, the Steel quest is actually broken at the moment... I've got the Nickle key from Dalnir. But the Copper key donesnt't drop off the mob it's supposed to.

Who knows. VI may sometime get around to actually fixing the key drop !! Then again.... (Epic Quest style..... maybe not)

    Here are the stats on the shackles;

    Dust: AC 2, wt 0.8
    Clay: AC 3, wt 0.8
    Rock: AC 4, wt 0.5
    Stone: AC 4, wt 0.5
    Copper: AC 5, wt 0.2
    Bronze: AC 6, wt 0.2, +5 MR
Steel: Quest broken. Rumoured to be AC 9

Personally, although it is VERY hard to kill Kwinn, I think the Copper is worth it for a AC to weight ratio of 25 AC per lb.

spent 3 hours in Kurn's tower and can't seem to pinpoint the spawn spot of the fingered skele. When I came in it was standing near the stairs next to the three stable area and got the 4" finger...but after killing the cook/thickboned skele and any wandering spawns in this area for 3 hours never saw another fingered skele... Am I killing the wrong spawns?

I have found the finger skeleton on all floors of the tower, probably by accident. Mostly I found him in the hallway in front of the Cook. I spent from level 10 to 23 inside the tower and kept the bones as i got them. I can't give you a time frame that you should be able to get them. Good hunting, neighbor.

fingered skele is a times spawn (17min 45sec) with a Place Holder, he spawns in the hall in front of cook room, when you kill him start a timer, and either him or his PH will spawn when time is up, rinse and repaet untill you have all the fingers.

I got EXTREMELY lucky. I'm only Lev 12, and this was the first time I wandered around LOIO. Found him fairly quickly. I saw him wandering near the north part of the zone. If you look at Eqatlas.com 's map, it was near the building marked 5, nearer to the mountain side. He was wandering though, so I'm not sure how close this is to his actual spawn point. He was moving in a West-to-East direction. Hope this helps.

    Skulking Brutling help...
    # Oct 17 2000 at 12:47 PM Rating: Default
I've read up on where to find these guys and have found the common spot for the Skulking Runtlings (supposed PHs?), but the odd thing is after killing anywhere from 4-15 of these runtlings, suddenly there are no more to be found anywhere. Do they get replaced by other stuff as well and force you to kill anything in the vicinity to spawn them again? Any assistance with speeding up the process of getting this guy would be most appreciated. Kinda frustrating for a quest of this nature to eat up so much time. Thanks in advance for any help.
    RE: Skulking Brutling help...

You need the brutling, not the runtling. The brutlings hang out in a very small area in the zone just southwest of the forest giant fort. Approximate loc is neg1800, pos2000. Good luck.

    Shackle of Rock
    # Oct 02 2000 at 10:23 PM Rating: Default
This quest was quite easy. Try doing the Robe of the Lost Circle quest as an Iksar. It's not impossible, as some may think.

    Shackle of Rock walkthrough:
First Left Fist: Look around for a wandering sarnak courier. The first time I saw him, he was walking on the mountains between the ruins and windmill in Lake of Ill Omen. The second time I saw him, he was past the skeletal ruins and closer to the water pillars.

    Right Fist:
Excavator's Claw - Field of Bone or Kurn's Tower, got one while I was waiting for the fingered skeleton to spawn
Intact Mandible - You can also get these from a brutling (wasn't a pygmy) I found near the Dreadlands entrance cave in the Frontier Mountains.
Torn Sash - the young ronin in Oasis drops this, he's pretty strong for his level
Sparring Gloves - Goblin Pitfighter in Warslik's Woods, I found him after killing 2 placeholders in the goblin fort. His *tent* is near the large circle of tents, near the bridge. It has a spit next to the tent door. If you're a lower level, watch out for the goblin shamen healing/SoW'ing him.
REMEMBER TO COMBINE THE BAG AND GIVE IT BACK TO MASTER RINMARK, HE WILL GIVE YOU THE FIST

    Final Left Fist:
fingers: The fingered skeleton in Kurn's Tower drops these, one at a time. There's four of them. It took me about 2 hours to get all four fingers, and maybe I was fortunate to not have to wait that long. At level 35, I was able to walk through the basement without being attacked by Burynai. I went over to the place where the fingered skeleton and his placeholders spawned, and feigned. I watched TV and kept an eye on the computer screen every few minutes. If I thought I missed him, I just ran to the entrance to the basement and back to see if he wandered somewhere. His placeholder is usually a burynai or a thick boned skeleton. The four fingers (each has its own length in inches, indicated on the item description box) are placed into a hand with a thumb container, obtained by the dancing skeleton in Timorous Deep. On ogre island, there is an ogre next to one of the ogrish stone buildings, named The Great Oowoomp. He isn't KoS anymore, so it's safe to walk up to him. Hand him 5 gold pieces, and he will summon his pet, a dancing skeleton. He didn't respond to any hails, so I targetted him and said "I will return the hand to Cabilis." He replied with some mumbo jumbo and gave me a container. After combining the container with the four fingers, you now have the second left fist.

    Intact Brutling Choppers?
    # Oct 03 2000 at 6:23 AM Rating: Default
I got a Skulking Brutling to drop "Intact Brutling Choppers" (Lore Item) last night after spending WAY too many playing sessions in Warsliks. (Found him a bit down in the valley just SE of the bandit lake). Is those the ones or do I have to get back and keep on hunting for "Intact Mandibles"?

If so - what are the "Intact Brutling Choppers" for?

It's mind boggling how Verant can come up with a quest resulting in a AC 4 bracer that takes a whole range of rare pops and components to get! What are they thinking? It's no exactly the Fiery Avenger we are after?

Intact Brutling Choppers works just fine!

    Yep!

Tried it last night and they combined just fine with the other stuff in Master Rinmarks bag.
