You say, 'Hail, Mayor Salvador West'

Mayor Salvador West says 'Ah, welcome to our fair city, Sul Vius! It is wonderful to see a new face. Feel free to explore and have fun. This is a place of infinite life and joy all provided by the lady [Anashti Sul]. Here we serve those that have been [relifed]. They have, after all, earned our respect and are the most worthy of Her followers. All I ask is that you show them the same respect. You may even wish to visit the [dead man's party]. We hold it in the circle outside every midnight. Or are you here to help me with an [task] that needs doing, or perhaps you are interested in a more [heroic adventure?]'

You say, 'heroic adventure?'

Mayor Salvador West says 'I don't really know how to ask you this. It's a delicate thing, asking you to interfere with our citizens, but something is wrong. For some reason some of those recently blessed with transition have become, well, upset. They are harming other citizens and they need to be stopped, but frankly speaking, I don't want to ask my guards to raise their hands against our most cherished citizens. Those that have been given the gift of relife have proven their faith, or they would not have been transitioned. Their unusual, poor behavior has put me in a difficult position. Are you that person that came to me about that odd [mirror]? Or have you stopped by to [assist] me with this problem?'

You say, 'mirror'

Mayor Salvador West looks into the fragment of mirror you obtained from the Crypt of Sul. He peers deeply into it for a moment, then you see understanding and shock sweep across his face in equal measure. 'I see truth in this thing, but not a current truth, if that makes any sense. I see myself, but completely different. It's disturbing. I can't tell you anything about it, other than I know it is linked to the Goddess. I can, however, tell you who might know. The Handmaiden would know, if anyone does. But you will have to gather her from her crypt and take her to the Waters of Eternity, if you are [willing].'

You say, 'willing'

Mayor Salvador West says 'You will need to perform a ritual, I hope you are up to it. Please leave through the front doors.'

You have received a request timer for 'The Handmaiden': 0d:0h:5m remaining.
You have been assigned the task 'The Handmaiden'.
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Sul Vius: Demiplane of Life.

  • Find the handmaiden's coffin

At the secret underground passage entry in the big house in the south section there will spawn a big named when close to the underground doors. It is recommendable to kill the yellow roamer before approaching the underground passage. The way can be found directly via the center area to the south. Mobs have a small aggro range so it is possible to wander the zone without fight. One single mob will stand in the way to the entry of the big house and needs to be dispatched.

  • Recover the handmaiden's skull

After approaching the secret door, the big guy spawns and needs to be killed -> you get the skull. He has some AE but with a Dru/Clr/War/Enc/Mag/Bst-config at lvl105 without mercs it is not very difficult.

  • Take the skull to the Statue of Eternity and perform the ritual

In the pit down in the center dispatch all mobs to have free area. Equip the baton and the skull. But you have to be in the center and if you move from your spot then the whole task fails.

    Task Locks Here

  • Defeat the fanatics!

After a very short time, 10 fanatics wander and attack. They come mostly in pairs. The last one is a lvl 109 High Bokon Fanatic, all others are Lvl 107 (a bokon, a fanatic citizen/remnant). The mobs are all mezzable but the big guy is not very nice. He casts a spell (assume Spite, DoT HP-25000/Tick, Mana-10000/Tick, AE-Range >200) which makes you empty very fast. In this case again the task failed. The first time the holder stepped accidently a bit in direction of the bridge -> Task failed again.

If the DoT is cured with Radiant Cure than you have a bit more time but he casts it regularly so another Cure should be up. A setup with Cure for the Dot, Mezz for all adds and a usual tank/healer combo should make that task. So if you failed the task, port again into the task and experiment with that setup till it works. Mobs are still up, testing can be done. Then it is not the need to get the whole task again to that point only to find out how to beat that nasty Bokon.

The named reminds me on Arsin the Blaze, only that his DoT/Nuke is surely at about Mana-25000. This really sucks, the only idea so far is endless DPS.

  • Speak with the handmaiden Yesha

This is where Render will spawn and ground spawns for collections can be gathered. They spawn in the city and in the cemetery.

  • Return the skull to its coffin

  • Return the mayor's baton

  • Open the Chest

Feign death was helpful for this as the person who needs to stand on the alter can FD the entire time and can stay alive even if the group wipes (grab some potions if you don't have that class in the group). The ten mobs who spawn will just circle the statue in the center of the water and, if you wait for them all to spawn, can be pulled at your leisure. We (ranger and mage with mercs at 110 with group gear from the darkened sea) were able to take down six of them before before we had to FD and rez the dead player. Pulling the other four solo was super easy with a ranger. The big bokon was hard, but it having that FD potion made it so that we didn't have to start over every time it didn't work the way we wanted it to. Also, the big bokon parked and stayed put with a snare.

Tried boxing a tank, cleric an druid on this with 2 healer mercs and a melee merc.

With the fanatics, 1st wave had 2, 2nd wave had 3, 3rd wave had 2. Then the high bokon came. We were doing good on him until the last 2 bokon fanatics showed up and joined in... then we wiped. When we came back, we peeled and killed the lesser fanatics and then focused on the high bokon and killed him. The next step is to return the skull to the coffin but the skull had disappeared... no doubt due to the wipe.

Discovered that if the one doing the ritual moves or dies or succors, the skull disappears, even though the mobs stay up. So, restarted and got the skull, then dropped the quest. Restarted and got another skull on a different character and then continued on. We could never kill the high bokon with the adds so having the spare skull I figured would let us finish it. When we wiped again, we went back to finish it but the skull had disappeared from both characters.

So... started over again and grabbed 2 skulls again. This time, grabbed one skull, then popped up a banker and put in the shared bank. Then got a second skull. We wiped on the high bokon like 5 times before discovering the trick. Initially, The casters stayed back as far as possible to avoid his mana draining dot ( and cure it when needed ) but apparently they were too far to cure the mercs so the healer mercs were useless fast. In our attempts, we tried waiting until the high bokon spawned and then ran to the side to med up and regroup to fight him. The problem with that is since the one doing the ritual moved, the last 2 bokons didn't spawn. We had to fight the high bokon until the other 2 spawned then succor'd. Went back, peeled and killed the 2 lesser bokon and then focused on the high bokon again. We all stayed close together this time so the cure would work on the mercs too and we took him down easily. Then we went back to the coffin, a different character popped their banker, took the skull out of the shared bank and finished the quest.

A fairly easy, straight forward task when you know the intricacies of it all but took us 9 hours to figure out what they all were and how to work it.

We tried this mission 5 times and it still bugs at Statue of Eternity, but we finally got this down:
Position the person with a Skull+Baton right in front of statue and have him not move before you kill all required mobs.
Any other group member can move around. (We had a ranger holding the items since he could still shoot his bow and deliver dps.)
3 times we failed because person with skull & baton stood on side of statue and skull just disappears after first wave (2 fanatics).
1 time we failed because we opened chest to early when handing in baton to mayor, so the task didn't update to new stage.
1 time with everything going good - had tank pull mobs just over the bridge and ranger + casters stay on statue worked like a charm.
-Handmaiden Yesha that spawns after you kill fanatics looks like a skull, and can appear on stairway passage under statue (2 out of 5 times for us)

    GL on your run.

This mission seems basically impossible for groups that aren't 105.. Trying this at 98 and the mobs seem to hit for a reasonable amount, 13-14k on trash and 22k on named.. but the effects seem to be full force. The monster was AEing for full damage also had 11million hp which seems a bit high, the high Bokon mana drain was full strength. There was no chance getting this guy dead. I think I got him to 85..
Quest still bugged - but after 6 tries success.

After nearly a year that quest has still bugs, even they are in a logical term.
Regardless if you step on the center area and you started or not started the ritual (with equipping Baton/Skull) you will fail if you step down at this phase.

It is idiotic but TBM whatsoever was the worst and most bugged expansion ever and it seems it still is.

So I tested that in Beta with complete raid gear to investigate how it works and it worked fine also with a Rogue with SoS instead of FD. It worked like a charm - no wonder - raid gear is completely out of league. On Live Server the mobs don't see through SoS from start but after a time they attack the rogue. So SoS is as viable as BS. FD class seems the only real option here.
So NEVER step onto the platform in the center while you are not ready - the event does start with this step, not with equipping the baton/skull !!. At equipping the Baton/Skull the mobs start to spawn. Leaving/Moving at either step will fail the mission.

Annonying that no possibility is there to restart this platform part instead of leaving the task, regain the task, running around for preparation to stay on the same problem again. Sometimes I miss a "save option" or a raid tank for the last mob....

    Addition 4th try:

Another bug: While being Halfling Rogue staying at the platform after the bridge the stupid statue moves back while opening the cave and the mission fails again.
So as idea: jumping on the platform BUT the stupid clipping errors in EQ move the platform but not the rogue who is standing on top of it. Result: he slips into the nirvana of the cave pit and.. yes.. you will get it.. mission fails...
Another one: equipping it before you enter the platform is the same: you moved while going into the platform.. mission fails....

This is a good example of complete failure of an expansion even after 1 year. Complicated mechanics would be cool. But with this graphics engine and the clipping bugs it is a real annoyance.

Addition the 5th try: stepping on the platform perpeticular to the moving statue so that the distance to the statue is nearly always the same (on the side) and trying again in hope that this will not also fail the mission. And perhaps getting an ogre illusion so that my fat buttock does not slip through the small gap....but this time SoS fails... killed.. mission fails...

So this mission feels like debugging code from somebody else - and everybody who has done that knows how that bores to death....

    Addition 6th try - success:
    - Dru/Enc/Clr/War/Bst/Mag (got rid of the rogue, useles here, except DPS)
    - BST with 97% (full AA) FD (3% failure... phew..) -> gets task/baton/skull (missing SK/Nec)
    - FDs on the SIDE of the statue to not have the problem of moving the statue, nor slipping at the top of it
-> FD behind the entrance to the bottom part (side of statue) to avoid too much traffic and 3%-chance-failure
-> Bst does NOTHING while there
    - Group is up on the stone of the very opposite of the entrance/stairs on the side of the little lake and stays there (does not move to the stairs)
    - Pull step by step by warrior between the groups stone and the next one close to the wall to not aggro the named
    - 2-4 skets will aggro through the wall (they appear at the wall and wander off) -> ideal to catch without the named (the named never went close to the spot)
    - AE-Mezz if critical and DPS via War/Pets and Casters (group except War stays always on the stone)
    - AE-Root (Dru AA Para. Spray) if things go wrong (Named Bokon will stick also with the AE-Root)
    - Named Bokon:
    - loading all buffs/Burns/Discs/Celestial/Retort/Infusion beforehand
    - War engages with raid discs and turns Bokon (distance at the lake), backside to the group
    - full burn and heal

While the whole group was still on the stone, Druid went closer. Druid was OOM but group seems to be not afflicted by the AE of the named Bokon. Perhaps an accident but perhaps the Named has been changed to be easier now.

That variation is nearly the same like the ones described so far but without the AE-Root from Druid/Ranger (which has the chance to throw back a large amount of mobs including the named but then all have aggro and named can cast).

By the way: 4 shinies in the distance and Render as named:
    - killed Render (the same Mana-Sucker than the Named Bokon, same strat)
    - never found any shinies despite swarming the whole zone :(

    Success !!!
    # Apr 08 2016 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
After a few fails, me and a buddy finally got this one down ...

Group composed of all 105th level: Ranger, Monk, Shadowknight, Shaman, Tank Merc, Healer Merc. Myself
boxing Ranger + Shammy, buddy boxing Monk and SK. The first part of the mission, up top, is super easy. Have SK grab the mission and loot the skull when it
    drops ....

Clear all mobs in statue room and below statue room.

    Position SK at the Statue.

Position everyone else up on largest rock in room, the one attached to the zone wall. No aggro from that
    spot.

Have SK start the ritual and FD. Then leave him there ... Do not stand up or do anything else with the FD
toon. Another FD class can do this as well. This FDed character will stay FDed for the entire event.

The Fanatics spawn in groups of 2/3/2/2/1 with the last being the tough one.

Tank and Cleric mercs set to Passive.

On each spawn, I AA snared with Ranger, then punted them off with Flusterbolt / Blusterbolt + Cover Tracks
as needed. Punt them off in different directions to split them up. Your goal here is to set up the mobs
    for easy, fast pulls.

After the 4th spawn (2 mobs) are taken care of like this, and all aggro is cleared, move everyone EXCEPT
FDed character carefully under the ramp, or to a spot where you can fight without gaining adds.

Set Mercs to Aggressive and Reactive, and pull each of the fanatics in order of spawn, as their snare
timers will be the oldest ...

Once all these are killed, be ready for the red fanatic ...

He has an effect called Spite which =

1: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000 per tick
    2: Decrease Current Mana by 11417 (L1) to 158785 (L105) per tick

Mana: 0 Casting Time: 0 Recast Time: 0 Fizzle Time: 0
Resist: Chromatic [Lowest] Resist Adjust: -990
    Range: 600 Location: Any
Time of Day: Any Interruptable: No
Short Buff Box: No Target Type: NPC Hatelist
    Spell Type: Detrimental Category: Unknown(0)
    Source: Live 03/11

I noticed that Spite also drained our Endurance, making Burns problematic ... one of those use it or loose
it scenarios ... If your Endurance gets low you can attempt to get some back with Breather disc.

Shammy should have RC up and 105th level Cure spell up.

Pull last Fanatic and get it prepped quickly. Go full burn ASAP. Drop as much of your mana and endurance
as you can. This was problematic with Ranger as he kept taking aggro from Merc ... had to turn attack off
and use Cover Tracks to clear hate list.

When it uses Spite, cure with RC + Blood of Rivan's. I was not able to cure Spite again as two castings
of Blood of Rivan's was not enough. Seemed strange to me ...

I used longest duration Disease Dots from Shammy when Fanatic was half dead in case we wiped so maybe we'd
get lucky and the DoTs would finish Fanatic off .... Also had to use Canni AA and Spell in order to have
mana at one point in the fight.

    Speak with the Handmaiden.

Turn the baton in for the finish.

Oh, and once the last fanatic is dead, the napping SK was allowed to get up :)

Luckily we got it done though. Chest dropped same loot as much easier missions ... Boooo.

Good luck and good hunting !!

Shadowpath Ironwolf, Ranger of Many Worlds - The Rathe.

As addition to the write up:

    2. The monster is "a terrible monster", cons red to 105, quads, stuns, casts Voidstorm

    3. When you go down the pit, clear the area around the statue. When you are ready, move across the bridge to the statue and let one of the group members equip the skull and the batoon. They cannot leave the statue/island

    4. Adds comes in pairs, except last one, the high bokon fantastic. He's red to a 105, the remnants are yellow. The others are white.
Times are approx, but about 4 secs to 2nd wave, then another 20. Last waves comes with about 1:20-1:40 between them.

EDIT: Yes, our mage could cast and turn in a circle.

Could you please clarify for me whether or not the person doing the ritual (holding baton) can still cast spells while they are standing still? We're trying to figure out if our groups mage can still contribute to the event or if he has to basically keep his hands off the keyboard.

    Thank you for your time.

Our group boxed Wiz,Chanter + Boxed War, Ranger, 2 merc healers

TRY 1. We failed as the person in the center was attacked and killed. I guess there is no reset the skull had disappeared on res.

TRY 2: Next fail, we killed the High Boken Fanatic and found we were still short 2 fanatics which never spawned at that point. No point asking for credit since it was bugged tried that.
If you keep casters way back they are not hit with High Boken bad crap.

TRY 3: Fail ...Well this part was wrong for us the Named Boken always spawns in the middle of the spawns not at the end.
"After a very short time, 10 fanatics wander and attack. They come mostly in pairs. The last one is a lvl 109 High Bokon Fanatic, all others are Lvl 107 (a bokon, a fanatic citizen/remnant)."
Worked out again after 4 kills, 4 yellows spawned at once and soon after the High Boken we were left with 4 kills 4 yellows up and the high Boken as before no sense in killing these as the last two Fanatics will never spawned. Last time with the same situation we pulled all and killed named but missing two so still lose.
They all walk fast in circles around the center statue so very hard to pull even if the effort had been worth it!
after 4 yellows no way to kill 4 that fast BEFORE killing named.

TRY 4: Failed because person standing on platform was killed, 7 spawns and kills.

TRY 5: Again the named spawned before the last 4 fanatics so we have them and named up at once. We killed 10 but could not do the next step as the skull could not be returned to the coffin as we no longer had it for some reason, I suppose the person holding it moved.
