You say, 'What mask?'

Sarth Scarscale says 'Have you ever encountered a drixie before? I crush every one I see. They are an annoyance beyond mere words! Kill the Queen and bring me her wings as a trophy along with an emerald of fire and a banded mask.

- Banded Mask is a low-level smithed item.
- Fire Emerald can be bought from jeweler merchants for about 90pp.
- Lady Chromoire, a rare spawn in Firiona Vie, drops the Wings of the Drixie Queen.

Bring these items to Sarth in exchange for the Dreadscale Mask.

Finally got the Wings of the Drixie Queen, which drop off of Lady Chromoire in Firiona Vie. I had to kill her twice, as the first time she didn't drop any item.

First, I took the FV stone from PoK. Invised, then ran south along the zone wall when I got out of the tunnels. Spiders hang around this area and invis works on most of them. If you see one, con it, and if it's indifferent you're safe. I also saw a guard roaming this area, that I assume was hostile, so it's not safe to get in an engagement here. Once I hit the water, I swam around the outpost so I wouldn't have to worry about invis dropping. A bit east of the outpost, there's a shore that you can climb up on. From there, I continued east along the cliff to about -2800, -1400. This was my camp that I pulled to. Make sure you pass Tracker Azeal as you go east. He hangs around a certain spot and patrols west. If you are west of his post and are fighting, he may start his patrol and add. I found that out the hard way. Even though he was indifferent to me, he came to the aid of a pilgrim that I was trying to kill.
This was a pretty straightforward camp. I tried to kill anything (drovlargs, pilgrims, drixies) that was close by, if I had good mana and health. Drolvargs are straight-up melee mobs with no surprises. Pilgrims can be tough because they seem to be of different classes. The High Elf female did some kind of holy nuke for 200. The Halfling female didn't seem to have any abilities. There is a Half Elf female, a Dwarf male, and at least one other type. A shield is useful here to interrupt their spells with Bash. If your Bash timer is down and the mob casts a spell, cast a spell of your own (e.g. Lifedraw). The Animate Dead skeleton pet can also Bash, so use him if possible. Most of the pilgrims are able to heal themselves, so watch the timing on your Bash when they get low on health to try to interrupt it. Bashes aren't guaranteed interrupts, but at least it's a shot. Drixies use Fire and Cold nukes for about 180 and can cast probably at least 4 in one battle. They also Root and maybe Slow (either a pilgrim or a drixie does, I'm not sure), so if you have resistance gear, now might be a good time to use it. Several Dreadscale pieces have good resists. Drixies don't have many hit points, but they hit hard. EIther the pilgrims or drixies also use a lot of Lightning nukes for about 100. I tried Cancel Magic on a drixie that had a thorns damage shield, but it did nothing.
Lady Chromoire herself is about as tough as a regular drixie even though her level and hit points are lower because she will constantly nuke you for around 200 and has a damage shield (melee does no damage until the shield is destroyed). I didn't Harm Touch her, but assuming she wouldn't resist it, it would have taken a big chunk out of her and might have killed her outright.

The roamers make this camp a challenging one. There are no true safe spots, and there is always a danger that a pilgrim will run by from nowhere, see you and aggro. Yes, they do have a large aggro range, my guess is that it's around 80, i.e. a bit under half the range of most SK spells. Also, the pilgrims see invisible; con them while invis and they will be scowling. I am pretty sure the drixies don't, some spiders do, and the drolvargs do. Because so many mobs see invisible, you can't sneak in, assassinate with a HT to the back, then sneak out. Too bad. The pilgrims and drixies will fight the drolvargs, so sometimes you can pick off the injured winner. It can be amusing to watch them fight each other. Go Drolvargs!

I did this solo, and a party of three 39+ characters could probably do this easily and get some good xp. Keep your eyes peeled for roamers, keep a reserve of health and mana in case of an add or Chromoire pops. and stay frosty. Eventually the Wings and the Dreadscale Mask will be yours.

NO TRACKER NEEDED
# Jul 10 2002 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default
You dont need a Tracker!!! She spawns at midnight at neg1800, neg100 near the bend in a north-south path in FV. The spawn is every few nights - not every night - but be patient. I killed her with my HT and one hit - got the wings - very easy. Just FD while you're waiting to avoid aggro from pilgrims and other drixies. Also, be prepared to FD right after killing and looting as youre sure to get adds while killing her.

Why not make it no drop?
# Feb 17 2002 at 10:54 PM Rating: Default
met a troll SK earlier today who talk to me about his no drop quest armor...

First of, the stats were at least as good if not better than the dreadscale and second it was all no drop. Most of you people probable don't have the problem we on Rallos Zek encountered everytime we go out... i had my dreadscale BP ganked 3 times already and now tht i have my greaves i'm really turning into a paranoid. Verant didn't only make iksars hated everywhere but they also made us one of the most-item-lootable-race...

Only real good thing about Dreadscale is the look it has, even though helm looks (or used to) like crap... in fact i'm don't intend to get Helm even though it'ss the only piece i'll b missing after i get this mask here...

And yes this mask is really cool, like all the stats on it...

Here is how I got the drixie wings....I got a druid friend with good FV faction to help me. He would bind just outside FV in LOIO. We would SoW and Invis and then run from the LOIO/FV zone to a LOC of approx neg 1000, neg 100. Since I was lvl 35 I had FD. I would FD and he would start tracking. Once he found her on track he would go get her (she was usually in a fight with a drovlog and usually looses so you have to be quick). He would kill the drovlog and "save her" then he would turn on her and pull her to where I was FD. He would then root her and gate out of the zone so as not to take the faction hit. I would jump up and smack her down. I got the wings on the third one we killed. However there can be a considerable time between spawns. We waited over 2 RL hours one night to kill one with out the wings. It was much too boring to lay there FD for long so it actually took us 3 trips in to kill her 3 times. The locations posted below are as about as acurate as you can ask for. Thanks for posting them. Good Luck fellow SKs

The weblurkers can see thorugh invis, but seem to have a smaller aggro range than the ones that can't see through it. I make it to LOIO from FV with camo and sow everytime. Drixies can't see me either, although I have nothing to fear from my friends the Drixies. =)

Spiders Can't See Invis...
# Nov 01 2001 at 4:03 PM Rating: Default
I had a 20 Druid and is now lvl 30.... I would use invis to run back and foward to the FV bank from LOIO... And it seems the Spiders don't See Invis, and neither do the Drixies...(I think).. I dont know about the dogs.... though, and well just thought I would say that.

And yes I will try to get, the "wings" from that Lady, I will track her down, agro her butt, to the LOIO zone if I can or get a monk bud of mine to do it, get on my 54 Warrior, kick her ***. Leave the body near the LOIO as close as possible, get on my Brothers SK, and loot the damn wings.

I think this should work, thats just an Idea for some of you to try, get a High lvl friend monk to help you out. my 2cp.

Off topic for the quest, but something to keep in mind if you're huting Lake.

The drixies always saw my Wiz when he's invis (they're still amiable) but I've started taking a different route over the last few levels, so that might have changed.

Some of the Drac's can see Invis. I think it's an aspect of caster vs non-caster but quite a number of them still want to kill me under a 33 Invis.

Seen her once on my friends game...
Spent a lot of time in FV for the Crusader's Khukri Quest... (most of the time spent I was FD'ed)
Without track, you'll be lucky if you can find her...
This mask is better than my burynai hide mask I'm using at lvl 40...

So to those who say don't do this quest.... remember... don't do the quest, don't take chances, don't make risks, don't have fun, don't learn how to stealthily utilize your characters abilities...

I currently finished the Crusader's Khukri Quest... which involved a twisted run around FV... my heart never stopped racing and it was a great fulfillment to accomplish it...

2 more to go before I begin my search for... the Greenmist... the Unholy Khukri of Rile...

Thanks to Sarec (posting below), I had enough hope to work on this quest. Here's what I found out:

She spawned at or very near (n1778, n267) at 22:43:02, game time was 12 AM. I could not have missed the spawn by more than 30 seconds, and I bet it was less than 10 seconds. I was clicking track very often and when I saw her on track, she was the closest thing to me (tracksort distance). This location is near the bend in that little crooked road far to the east of the outpost.

She proceeded directly west as a rather leisurely pace until she reached (n1752, p1907) at 22:47:00 with minimal stops. Here she paused for about 45 seconds while she polished her nails and touched up her eye-shadow, and then took off Northeast.

When she reached location (n205, p889) at approximately 22:50:36 the Queen met with a drachnid weblurker. She died at 22:51:42 while running west *very* slowly. She could not have run more than 50 units at most. The weblurker was down about 1/3, no more than 1/2.

These three loc's [(n1778, n267) (n1752, p1907) (n205, p889)] form a nearly equilateral triangle. I propose that if she had not encountered any hostiles, she would have returned to her original spawn point and despawned. This is, however, conjecture.

I need to observe a drachnid weblurker battling a single drixie or a single pilgrim in order to judge her offensive capabilities. She con's red to a level 19 Ranger, so she is not level 20 as reported in the bestiary. She cannot be very much higher though from my impressions with the drachnid.

I have spotted her on track a total of 5 times over 10 hours split over 4 sessions. She is not a common spawn.

During one continuous 4 hour tracking session, she was seen 4 times at locations (n1670, n457), (n1487, n443) and (n1816, p1568). The other time was approximately (n1500, p500) but I didn't get a good /loc. These 4 times I proceeded to switch to my 26 (at the time) Iksar SK who has wanted to kill her real hard for a real long time. The first time I got booted making the switch. The next two times it started to rain AS SOON AS I got near the co-ords and I could not find her. The last time I got jumped by a drixie. I survived the battle, but with 1 bub of health, no ht, and almost no mana. The only reason I had that much health was that the drixies run, and when it did I stopped melee and lifespiked the stew out of it.

Next night, 2 hours tracking with no sightings. Night after that, 2 hours tracking with no sightings. Last night, she popped on top of me (see above) after 1 hour. I stayed one additional hour with no sightings.

These 4 points are consistent with the path taken during the one good track.

My suggestion: Pick her off near the spawn point (n1778, n267) before she gets too far west. Once she reaches the western-most point the drixie concentration is way too high for a reasonable chance of single combat. Once she starts her trip northeast she will almost certainly encounter a drachnid and be lost to you, although waiting at the northern most point (n205, p889) might be viable if you are willing to clear out the spiders. This might be easier than staying clear of the pilgrims. There is one phrase you should learn, because you will be saying it a lot while hunting for the queen. It is "You know, those pilgrims have a HUGE aggro radius."

You will probably need help if you are under level 40. (My estimate only, as a 39 SK friend nearly died umteen dozen times while waiting two hours there. He was feigning death every 5 minutes.) Anyone else will be greened and low-blued to death waiting for her to spawn. Everything in this zone aggros Iksars and some of everything I've encountered can see through invisibility. Some person of any good race needs to stand at the spawn site who has keen eyes, or preferably a Ranger (Yay! Go Rangers! Go ahead and crack about "Ranger down" standing in the middle of Drixie Central for 2 hours. I dare you.) using track. When the queen pops you've got less than 4 minutes to marshal your forces and pull her to the cliff, which is *not* safe, but is merely safer than the interior.

Best of luck to you,

Tsavor, 19 Ranger
Brochis, 28 Shadowknight

Alright, I did this quest solo as a level 40 SK. Took about an hour, and that's only because I died on my first attempt.

DO NOT search for Lady Chromoire right outside the outpost. There are way too many drixies, pilgrims, and guards - and they all have a huge agro radius. I found this out the hard way when I initially tried killing drixies to the left of the outpost, by the unused docks (not the main ones).

My winning strategy -
Try going down the shore to the right of the outpost, by the short curvy road (you'll see it on the eqatlas map, approx. loc is -2300, -1100). If coming from LOIO, its easiest route for evils is to hit the water and swim all the way around the outpost. It'll take a while, but its much safer than trying to cross the mainland.

Anyway, once your in that area, you should find plenty of wandering drixies, and some pilgrims (be especially wary of the pilgrims, as they have a HUGE agro radius). After about ten minutes of carefully executed excurions inland, I found our dear Lady and immediately pulled her to the shore. Very green to me at 40, but still had fairly potent nukes for her level (right under 200). However, I would think this could be done around 30 (or earlier with help), especially if ya have a HT to burn on her. Hard as she is to find, I don't think she's as rare as most everyone has been lead to believe, as long as you search in the right area. Hope that helps!

make a lvl 1 dwarf ( closest to fv) get him a sow and you might try this a few times but it can work. then run to the drolvarg or whatever camps outpost whatever get a big train of them.
then run to the stupid drixi and just wait for the things to come kill you with you sk camped neer by. then they do half teh fighitng for you. if it dose not work the first time do it agin before they regain. keep you dwarf bound neer the FV bridge.

worked for me... kinda =)

I was helping a friend do find Sir Hobble so he could get fuzzwin to spawn for his Wurm Slayer quest.
While i was tracking, i found Lady Chromoire many times. Nobody was attacking her (PC wise, she did get attacked a few times by the Drolovargs.)
I would run straight out off the bridge from the out post and run until i found the crossroads. She was almost constantly there. The problem that i see for anybody that is going to attack her is that she was surrounded by at least 2-3 drixies that would jump to her aid if she was attacked.
There was also some others out there doing the WS quest at the same time and one of them rooted Hobble to get him to stand still and get Fuzzwin to get there faster. When that happened, the Drixies came out of no where and proceeded to kick that poor druids butt.
Lady Chromoire joined in on the fight and from what I could see from the spells that she was casting she is going to be tough by herself much less with a whole entourage of drixies helping her.

Good luck with this. This is one of the few pieces that I am missing for my SK and I still haven't figured out an easy way to get it without having a 50th level high elf wizard that wants to nuke everything running around with you.

For any Iksars thinking about doing this quest DON'T!!!!!!!!! It is not worth you time, effort, mana, and xp. Everything see thru invis and if you get one on you you got the whole zone on you. Me (40sk), 45war, and 42war had the worst time in that zone. Spiders, Drovlargs, Pilgrims, Leeches, Drixies, they all HATE you. They will stop fighting each other to attack you. It sucks that this is going to be the only piece of Dreadscale that I wont have. Verant bad choice to place a quest.

I have spent the last couple of days in FV looking for her. I have /ooc if anyone has had her on track many times and have gotten a few responses which include her direction of travel and where she had stopped. Unfortunately I have not been able to get to her in time because I was at the wrong part of the zone.
This is what I have seen and this seems to go with other information that I have heard about her. She spawns to the right of the bridge to the city and heads then starts to head north. She will continue to about -30, +900 just nort of the trail that heads East/West. She will stop there and then head west along the trail to around -200, +200 or so(about where the fallen pillar is). This is all assuming she makes it that far before being killed by a spider of Drovlarg. I have place my sk here and since i have i have heard no word about her appearing. Figures!! Oh well, I hope this helps.

I was attempting to wait for the tracker at neg 200 neg 200 in FV zone (to complete the crusader's kukri quests), when all of a sudden, Lady Chromoire flutters past, conning nice and blue to my lvl 26 SK "Zladinram". My brother Harkelle was nearby, a lvl 50 high elf wizard currently bent on nuking anything that moves, and Lady Chromoire was felled with a single Ice Comet. I looted her wing, returned to cabilis, purchased the fire emerald, made a banded mask(I only have 16 skill, but I made one my second attempt), and headed to my guild to hand in the items. I received a nice chunk of experience, and a dreadscale mask (6 AC 3 str 3 int 5 sv disease 5 sv poison 1 weight). I'll submit a screenshot soon.

Lucky Dog! I killed Lady Chromoire and all she had was pocket change. Sounds like a decent mask though, verant finally did a good job and geared all the SK items here toward the stats needed and not wasting anything like making +wis Dreadscale armor. I see shadow knights pushing int close to some of the pure casters and past the wisdom of other hybrids with all this int gear coming out of Cabilis. Oh well when the patch is over I guess I'll go find her again. FYI she gives bad faction with FV and I belive Kaladim but it was not drastic enough to change my bard's faction con after 2 kills.

2nd death of lady chromoire yielded the wing but I'm glad my bard can get into cabilis to do this quest because I wouldn't want my shadow knight roaming through firiona vie past all those see invis pilgrims and drixies, at least not without slaying a few thousand goblins first.
