The dull ruby turn in is fairly easy. Get a mechanized lock pick set. put it in your bank. go to a shroud keeper and get a goblin rouge shroud on. then go to COM and you can unlock the doors as u need 2. Good Luck. I also suggest you grab a few levitation potions from the merchant in pok b4 you go. That way if you fall u dont die.I also found it help that i bought some cloudy potion and some Haste in a bottle from the bazaar. Being shrouded u need all the help u can get :P

Jeb Lumsed is in the form of a sarnak imitator in the Burning Woods at -1200, -4000. He is not always around, and killing the nearby Sarnaks may help him appear.
You say, 'Are you Jeb Lumsed?' a sarnak imitator says 'Yes I am. Use your most enlightened magic to seek the truth of what is around you. When that is done, you will know what you seek.' You need to have completed the quest which Stofo Olan has, for a copy of his research notes. Give the Copy of Notes to Jeb Lumsed. a sarnak imitator says 'I see that you have what I was waiting for. Stofo does do excellent work. It seems that you are to start on a long journey. Take this seal and it will guide you on your next step. Seek out the masters of enchantment. In time we will craft the Serpent for you. When you have collected the four parts of the staff, you must combine them in a bundle for me. If you need a sack, just let me know.' She says more and more pilgrims and explorers are arriving every day, and that the outpost is well defended now.' Nadia will give you the Test of Charm. You say, 'Who is Polzin?' a sarnak imitator says 'Master of the Phantasms - he is the last one you will seek out. Hmm...Polzin is native to Erudin, however, after the incident near Paineel, no one has heard from him. I hope that he is well.' Polzin will give you the Test of Phantasm. for whatever reason, jeb will not give you a sack any longer, you can say you need one, he'll never give you one... you can give him the seal he just gives it back and not a bag to go with it.
so what ya got to do is when you get the last bag for whichever test you do last, get a second bag from that npc so you can combine the staff pieces before you go back to jeb to finish the staff.

He probably doesn't give you the sack anymore, to stop people skipping the pre-quest.
After all, you didn't have to give the copy of notes to get a sack, all you had to do was /say "I need a sack".
You could have taken that sack to the masters and not needed to hand them Jeb's seal.

Ok someone help plz...I got the seal from Jeb but he didnt give me a sack or tell me anything about the masters...can i keep going and do the masters quests or no? And if i do will he give me what i need if he didnt tell me to do it lol?

I would like to get a list of what parts of this quest cannot be done till a certain level and which ones can. My alt chanter has had a majority of the legwork done on this quest, but there are obvious parts that cannot be done till certain level requirements are completed. Obviously all the "go to zone ____ and kill _____ and loot _____ are able to be done, and all the ground spawns (except for Plane of Sky book with the lvl 46 level restriction).

Rilgor Plegnong - Ak'Annon - Give SMR, get pen. At 46 he gave me the line about "I saw a gnoll pup you could probably defeat, a few miles back" when asked about the mechanical pen, but when given the SMR he did in fact still give me my mechanical pen.
Chrislin Baker - W. Karana - Will not take parch/quill from YOU but will take it from from any high lvl of any class, not just enchanter (above 46?). You won't have the bandana since the person who turned in parch and quill will receive it, but it's just for quest lore anyhow, and not req'd to complete the quest. You can still loot the drop from Thracken Griften, since he will spawn..
Give the Head of a Prince to Joren Nobleheart, receive Chalice of kings. At 46 he said "This matter is far too advanced for you to handle. Come back after you've killed a few more large rats". Even without the good text, I did get my chalice of kings when I gave him my head off the Prince in Chardok.
Snowblossom quest, - Can be completed at any level.
Nadia Starfeast - Will not respond to the normal text but if you just say "What diamond" etc etc.. she will still give you the gems for the charm tests.

OMG i finally got my hate drop, i have all 4 piece of staff, and no enchanter's sack to combine them in. i am afraid to hand in the pieces to jeb. what should i do next?

You can get the enchanter's sack from any of the main npc's. Just say i need a sack to one of them and can use it for any part of the quest.
Try reading the quest listing^W^W^W^Wgoing back to "a sarnak imitator" in the Burning Woods and saying "I need a sack."

I have Warmly with Jeb Lumsed and I have tried "/say I need a sack" a dozen times. I have tried "/say I need a bag" and I have tried giving him his token and he will not give me a sack. :(
OK I just finished this 2 minutes ago. I went to Nadia in FV gave her Jeb's seal to get another bag from her, combined the 4 pieces of the staff to get the bundle. I had build my faction to warmly, thinking maybe that was why I wasn't getting a sack, I had no problem with turning in the budle of staves.

I guess I got lucky on the Hate drop, I got it on my 3rd kill. We were there less than 10 minutes. Actually, I got pretty lucky with the whole quest, I guess. I started the quest less than 2 days ago and all I have left to do is kill Verina in neriak and do the turn ins. We checked on her a few times and haven't seen her up yet. Hopefully tomorrow she'll spawn and I'll be done!
Hardest part I had was the scribe, took me 8 hours to spawn him. Felia took me about 2 hours to spawn.

Sooo .... you've done everything for your enchanter epic 1.0, you have done the final combine and are in possession of a Bundle of Staves. You boldly head off to Burning Woods to see Jeb Lumsed, a sarnak imitator; you flawlessly mezz all the others in his temple; you ask him "Are you Jeb Lumsed?", He anwers you; you check faction - you are amiable; so you hand him your Bundle of Staves ..... and he says," I have no use for this item, Jamaima. You may have it back." ... so, you try again ... and again ... and try illusions ... and try collaboration ... and try handing him his seal .... and get stitches in your hand and a replacement monitor ... and petition ... and have an illegible conversation with someone 12 time zones away who does not play the game ... and you find this post.
Yes, you have found a Sony bug. You see, the best theory is that when they introduced the newbie quests and the tutorial mode, they changed some of the base factions in the game. Through the magic of databases, your faction with Jeb - a faction that you have never damaged - is no longer as high as it needs to be to get your epic.
Jeb Lumsed, it turns out, is on the True Spirit faction. This is a tricky fact to ascertain as you cannot kill Jeb anymore and nothing else in his zone shares that faction so there is nothing else for you to collaborate to test this. Trust me. (NOTE: Please check here http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/faction.html?faction=181 to be sure that you have not killed anything that would have porked your faction.)
So, how to raise that faction? There are a couple of ways ...
(1) Redo the the prelim part of the epic to get the notes
(2) Redo the second part of the epic, A sack for Mizzle
(3) Hand Camin (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5205) 1000pp repeatedly
(4) Do the Shaman Epic (the entire point of which is raising this faction)
or - my choice -
(5) Do a small part of the shaman epic involving killing Glaron the Wicked and Tabien the Goodly (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=767) - Just kill these two and do the turn in of their drops - rinse repeat - con the wandering spirit to see when your faction improves to kindly

Go find Jeb. He will con the same as the wandering spirit.

PPPPS If you happen to be an Erudin Erudite whose faction took a hit - try buying 400 or so *rounds* of drinks for Palatos Kynarn in East Freeport (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=384). It won't help with your epic - but it is fun!

PPPPS If you happen to be an Erudin Erudite whose faction took a hit - try buying 400 or so *rounds* of drinks for Palatos Kynarn in East Freeport (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=384). It won't help with your epic - but it is fun!
im pretty sure a gm didnt tell u to work on factoin, due to the fact that they wont give u ne spoiler info, and they wont tell u what u need to do. only time when a gm will help u is if there can be something that has proved that has been bugged, and requires a gm to spawn/despawn, or u get stuck in a wall or something.

Buy the 1cp key. It takes you to the room where the book spawns. There should be no kos mobs in there or anywhere on the way there.

lol Looks like people really don't like reading. Guys, before doing quests read about it & follow what you see most & whats confirmed. And again... NO A sarnak imitator has NO PHs, he is on a spawn timer of 3 days either after kill or patch. Zone to BW & head to FM' zone Imitator is at "ruins" South of FM' zone in BW. Just head to the open area & u'll see the camp. I got lucky here, and friends were still awake (barely tho). Again, group of 51 chanty, 52 war, 51 clr, 46 rogue easily cleared everything around Imitator & I went to him, talked, did a turn in (re-pops are in 1-2 mins!!) so basically plenty of time. And NO Imitator won't give you a Sack hehee, all the 4 Masters will tho :P~
Good luck & hopefully noone will kill the Imitator nor by accident or greedness. 3 days are pain in the ..... :-x

I thought I did somthing wrong when I handed him the notes and he gave me the seal and I asked I need a sack. He wont give it to me. So I went to the other four masters that lives in ak anon and asked him I need a sack. He gave me the sack and was on my way. Good luck=

Right now it's bugged. You can get the sack from any of the 4 masters (Modani, Mizzle,... etc) You must hand them Jeb's seal, they'll give you the sack. Also, as of the most recent patch, combines for the Enchanters Sack work. And also, Essence of Vampire drop rate in PoH has been increased! What a wonderful day!

Your smoking weed, I would have hated to see the drop rate before. Spent 3 days so far about 8 hours each day. I seriously doubt that the drop rate was increased.

Officially stated in a patch, the drop rate has been increased... and yes, you would have hated to see the drop rate before.
The quest is not bugged... you were able to skip the first part of the quest and simply ask for a sack and they'd give it to you... there were no "flags" when this quest was first created.
Handing in Jeb's Seal to any of the 4 Masters will get you a sack and Jeb's Seal is returned.

So for the final hand in I visited the Polzin in The Hole and gave him Jeb's seal, got a bag and combined for the 4th piece of staff. After I had the staff I gave the seal to Polzin again and got another bag and combined the 4 staffs to get the bundle of staves.

Now that Hate has been changed, has anyone gotten Essence of Vampire? I've been quite a few times and never seen it, despite killing many female Revenants.

I myself, got the essence of vampire the beginning of January 2004 on Terris Thule. It was, of course, only after hours and hours of camping the revenants. But yes it does drop. Just painfully slow

There goes the single most useful site I have seen for quick access to mob HP's, LvL and Loc's (good for a DC'er). I tried to visit the site and it said it is no longer active, truely what a pitty.

Just when I was 48, I raised my Corrupt Guar Faction/Bloodsabres with Shilster's quest. Shilster was Dub. when I found him (Was being randomed off by 2 people looking to kill him)
and then bought not that many stacks and conned him...
Apprehensive, just like the original Qeynos guards were to me (And still are, UP YOURS BIOTCHES!)
Well, after looking at Diku's site 50 times and literally memorizing all the hand-in's, kills, etc., I am now lvl 50. I have 2 questions that I need answered....
1. Am I, at 50, ready to start AT LEAST the Copy of Notes quest?

1. Level 54 HIE chanter who had never killed guards. Was deeply KOS in Catacombs.
2. Turned in 3000 gp to Guard Shilster.
3. Put on Werewolf form and inv and went to con. Got dubiously. Put up Human form and got apprenhensive. Cast collaboration and got amilably to Reania (sp). Am threatenly to Qeynos guards in HIE form. Did not con in human form.
4. Got ink vial.
Most likley this does not help anyone. Most chanters are agnostic these days, but just incase you are "extremely good" this might shed a little light

At level 50 you can certainly start the quest. I started earlier than that (and didn't finish until I was 62).
Guard Shilster is a Corrupt Qeynos Guard, not a Bloodsaber. The factions are only slightly related. For example, I am Kindly to the Corrupt Guards but deep KOS to the Bloodsabrers.
The easiest way to check your Bloodsaber faction is to con the low-level Necro in the West Freeport sewers. She's the only Bloodsaber over there, and won't aggro on a level 50 character.

Twice I've seen guildees get through a good portion of their epic (one pally, one wiz) only to have it stolen by the NPC when they did a turn-in because of "poor faction". Well I don't want that to happen to me so I was wondering if someone could tell me what faction I should have maxed in order to complete my epic. I've gotten my first piece and with the help of my guild hope to get my epic.

The turn-in NPCs for this epic (other than the ones you have to charm) are on TrueSpirit faction, the same faction as those for many other epics (Wizard and Shaman are other examples).
As long as you do the quest in order, you should have sufficient faction to complete the quest with no problems. The factioning system in the Wizard quest was bugged for a while (might still be) and some of them did the first part of the Shaman epic repeatedly to gain TrueSpirit faction and do their epic. Although Enchanters could also do this, there isn't any need for it. That is/was a fix for a problem specific to the Wizard epic quest, and that quest alone.
In short - I don't think you have to worry about faction here, as long as you do the quest in order. Doing the quest turn-ins in order might not even be necessary, but I wouldn't risk it.

I spoke to Jeb today - gave him the Copy of Notes. I asked him for a sack and got no reply. Looked back at the text and noticed that he no longer offers to give you one, but tells you that the other masters can give you one.

After sitting on this last piece for 8 months I finally feigned a monk on the shiss's spawn point, took 5 days for the spawn since it's last kill.
Soon has I looted the damn thing, Cazic spawns and repops the whole zone. Talk about luck =).

I have been told that if you fight on the plane of growth as an ench, that you will not be able to do the quest do to loss of faction with tunare. Is this true?? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a DE enchanter and she is naturally KOS to Felwithe anyway. I have also hunted in PoG a lot. High Elf Illusion + Collaboration and they are asking me to babysit for them. If you stay out of the cleric guild you should have no trouble with your PoG faction. Head of Prince/Chalice of the Kings was my last piece so I even did it too fast, without paying much attention to what I was doing I was so excited and I was still not aggroed.

Nope. There are no NPCs involved in this quest on the PoG faction, and all other factions tanked by fighting there can be repaired.

I did the charm on the Wraith of Jaxion last night and it did not work. I did it several times, several different ways, each time he ate the gem and I got nothing returned.
They told me to /bug report it also. I think they screwed something up somewhere.

Zoned into fear as usuall with my druid to check for my last epic mob this Sunday - And behold, on track: Wraith of a Shissir.
Got guild up there, started clearing.
Shissar shouts, and respawns in the same spot (scared me quite some since it changed place in the track list and I thought it had de-spawned).
Finally we get ready to pull the temple, a paladin does the rush.
The shissar aggros him (as does everything else in there). The puller dies (quite early), and suddenly - The shissar is GONE!! It de-spawned!!
All the guide that was online could do is say, yes it is gone and I can report that there might be a problem with it
So now I really need to understand why this happened - My personal theory is that puller aggroed shissar, then died before we got the shissar tagged - and as some Velious quest mobs do, it despawned instead of walking back to its original location.
Anyone have experienced this, or have any theories?

Oddly enough, the Shissar is not on the same faction has the rest of Fear. And even even worse, if it was pulled with several other mobs, and one of those other ones hit it with an AE intended for the puller, the Shissar will attack that mob and then get killed. Sucks :(

Is there a complete walk through on this quest. I have everything except for Drozlin. Then have to get my diamond and ruby exchanged in Kaesorea / COM. The parts I want to be sure about are what to turn in to whom to complete the quest.

When I go down in the sewers to get the ink vile, I cast illusion and collaberation and I am Dubious. Is that high enough to do the quest? Also...Does hailing her trigger her to talk? or do I have the initiate the conversation by saying 'what about the ink of the dark?' What exactly do I say to get the ink vile.

You need higher than dubious certainly, maybe even higher than indifferent. My DE enchanter is amiable with Collaboration down in the sewer so I'm not sure exactly. You do require an exact phrase to trigger her, took me several attempts to get it right:
"Where can I find my own supply of the ink of the dark?"

ok can anyone tell me if i have to go through that stupid dialog after getting the seal, i was alone when i found jeb lumbstrum, and he was guarded by 4 sarnarks... well being kos (like anyone whoever plays this game), i didnt want to stick around while i mezzed the sarnarks (especially since one was really magic resistant, resited mezz like 5 tiems b4 it stuck)... i know on some quest you actually have to trigger the quest through dialog ie coldain prayer shawl quest. it would REALLY suck bad if i gave my seal to the guildmasters and they eat, since i didnt ask who the hell they are, you know what i mean....

ok in case anyone else has this stupid question, i pretty much answered my own question, after thinking to myself, i wont have a chance to do the dialog again without doing the whole note quest over, i just went ahead and gave the seal to one of the master, the results, viola, i got the bag, and the seal returned to me. so, to answer my silly question, just get the stupid seal, and you dont have to ask any of the other questions, so if your like me, and went to this zone by youreslef, just get the seal and gate out, dont risk mezz breaking the other sarnaks...anyways, hope this helps ya...

You absolutely *MUST* do the Jeb's Seal initial quest, because the later NPCs no longer respond to "what bag". To obtain a bag, you must surrender your Seal, which you will receive back with an Enchanter's Bag.

To take care of the negative faction hit, just go down to Black Burrow and clean house a few times.
The guards name is Guard Shilster. He spawns north of the bridge to EK near the river. After a little while, 10-15 minutes, he walks down to the SK bridge, attacking creatures as he sees fit.
Being a High Elf follower of Tunare, he was dubious to me. A quick Illusion Human and Benevolence took care of that. I spent 226 and a half plats worth of gold to get 453 BB stouts from him. Hey, you get faction plus you can work on Alc. Tol. at the same time =) Just go to HK to the bank, get loaded down woth a ton of gold, trade someone a clarity for a SoW (most druids love that trade), and head on down to NK.
I have not yet been to the sewers to check out my faction, but I would sure hope that's enough to at least keep me from being KOS.

just use colaboration... i am a human chanter following mithaniel marr so i was threatnigly before colaboration, after i was dubios and got my empty vial by saying what supply of the ink of the dark, or something like that

Also, for those of you still KOS after Colaboration (like I was) don't even think about charming this low level guy and then handing him 5gp for the faction hit. At level 17 he resisted Dictate. Owch. Best advive I can give for someone that killed there Bloodsabre faction and want another way to get the ink of the dark is to have a 50+ SK or Necro help you MQ it. Thats what worked for me.

What LOL please i wanna know cause a no mana cost 66% haste Doesnt Benifit you ? Go to WW or VP and you can just keep recasting VoG if you want to when everyone gets Dispelled hmm seems to me you might want to play a different Character.

I am little disappointed in this thing... I mean, Mages get a level 57 Pet, Necros get a HUGE life tap, Warriors get some awesome procing Swords, Clerics get a Auto Rezz, And what do we get?

Every class gets something appropriate for that class. Mages epic pet is not 57th level. If you don't want this item, don't go for your epic. And get a clue before posting, mr. anon.

Is this quest still broke at the end? I had read on another site that turning the staves in at the end was not working.

Best way to get her out is have a very well buffed high lvl warrior ( not kos, ie troll ) to pull her to the 3rd quarter zone, where two full groups are waiting to kill her off. its a tight fit in that hallway, and you will most likely agro the outside two guards, which will also porbably agro the guard in the building directly to your right facing out of the hallway. no pats. I will have them killed off first ( they are kinda on a quick timer, maybe 20 minutes ) have the warrior pull the zone, kill her off, and evac/gate out. If you do get an add on a kos member, the guards are easily mez'd. Though the goons are 100%mr from what i have seen, so dont bother trying to mez them.

All the walk-throughs I've found on this item fail to explain how you can get into the NEC guild without getting squashed by the lvl 61 guildmasters.
Here's what I'm dealing with:
High Elf/Agnostic ENC . I've tried Illusion: skeleten w/collab, Illusion: Drybones w/collab.
I havn't risked storming in to the guild INVIS because my fear of death from seeinvis MOBS. is this the sollution?
Any help on this, whether it be proven strategy or just an idea is greatly appreciated.

It's easy if you are agnostic. You can't go here unless you are Evil . All i did was cast Illusion:Dark Elf , and right clicked my rod and allianced a spectre close to the zone in . I was no longer kos to the under ground people . Then i casted caloboration (how ever you spell it) just to make sure my faction was high enough. So just use Dark Elf Illusion and a +faction buff and you should be ok , dunno if you worship Tunare or anyone though.

I had the same problem, except I am High Elf Tunare. There are several quests I have found to raise your faction, but the easiest is to slaughter Nelco (outside the tower in Qeynos Hills on the way to WK) over and over. He's a wimp who you can just nuke once. The guards will not assist, however your faction with GuardsOfQeynos and OrderOfThree (Qeynos casters guild) will fall. What I did was simply kill Nelco - about 30 - 40 times, spawns every 6 mins - until I was apprehensive with the guards (using Collaboration and Illusion Human, I'm kos as my normal self).
Your best bet in the Necro guild is to use Illusion Human, collaborate with the spectre pet in the hall, and the enchanter chick should be amiable to you (or she is to me). You can also kill gnolls in BlackBurrow to up your faction with the Qeynos guards. It's a good thing to do in between spawns of Nelco.
As an agnostic, you may not need to even kill Nelco. Just collaborate with something in the zone, make sure you have illusion Human on, invis, run in and target the enchanter. Run away to a safe spot, drop invis, and con. The only thing I have found that sees invis in there are the roaming spectres.

The other possibility, if you don't want to hurt your caster guild faction, is the Crate quest (Evil version), listed on this site in the North Qeynos section. If you Bind next to one of the key NPCs it's a 2-minute turnaround, with no negative faction hits (part of it hurts Guard and Circle of Unseen Hands, but the other part adds to those, and it looks like it's a zero-sum). Biggest problem is the speed; it looks like it's a 1-point faction increase, so at 30 per hour, it'll take you a LONG time. On the bright side, though, it helps a few other factions so it's not a bad thing to do a few times.

OK Listen up. I am a 55 enchanter. I did this part at level 50 before I had collaboration. To all of you out there thinking of doing the same thing - DON'T. Wait for collaboration. I did the evil crate quest for 12 hours with a turn around of 8 minutes per time. That is approximately 90 times I did this quest. In that time I went from low ally with the good guards to mid amiable, low dubious with the corrupt guards to max Ally. Yes it is that fast with the faction boost you gain from the corrupt guards. The tradesfolk went from Amiable to Kindly. During this time my faction with the Blood Sabres went from KOS to just turning dubious. Alliance and Benevolence had no appreciable affect. I am a follower of Quellious so all of you agnostics out there should have a much easier time of it. Good luck and good hunting.

I just want to say, that the Crate quest is not a zero-sum. Since Verant has made it harder to gain faction than it is to lose it, this IMHO will make you KoS before it helps you. I did this quest for about 3 hours and went from Apprehensive to Indifferent with the bad guards, on the other hand I went from Warmly to Indifferent with the good guards, that is +1 to bad factions, and -2 to my good factions...also, 3 hours of tedious zoneing in a circle still had me KoS in the Sewers...and that's the faction that I need. I have decided that I will not be doing the crate quest anymore, I have a feeling I will be KoS in Qeynos before I can even get good enough faction to go down in the sewers, and all this after how many hours later? I think not. I am gonna try the killing of fish idea and I am bringing a Cleric with me to rez my sorry butt when I get killed by guards. Time is too precious to me since I can not live in Norrath, if Ima be KoS, Ima do it the quickest way possible. BTW, I follow Tunare.

You need the seal to start the rest of the quest... It's kinda important...
